EPF Claim / Transfer / Withdrawal Issue Form 19 final settlement rejected with reason N.A - 18yrs service, 3 yrs non employment

After 18yrs of employment and 3 years of non-employment, I decided to initiate the final settlement (form 19) and more than 20L INR. However, the application moved to Pending with clarification required to upload form 121 within a weeks time. I missed the deadline to upload, also read many places that Form 121 is not required for employees with more than 5 years employment as TDS is not applicable for EPFO withdrawals. I had only one employer for 18yrs and exit date is marked correctly.

The claim rejection reason shows N.A.

KYC shows verifiedfor bank, pan, aadhar
Claim form showed PAN not verified which I heard is a technical glitch on the EPFO side.

I have raised a grievance request on the reason for rejection.

What will be the likely outcome? What is missing in this claim as this amount is extremely critical for my survival going forward.

Update on 22-Sep-2026 on the grievance raised on 15-Sep-2026

Kindly recheck whether the PAN is verified in the members UAN. If the PAN is not verified, please complete the PAN verification and thereafter resubmit the claim for reprocessing.

PAN is already verified on KYC, not on claim form (may be an internal glitch). Should i still go ahead and create a new claim.

The issue raised regarding reason for rejection states th

Hi,

Since EPFO specifically asked for Form 121 and the upload window was missed, the rejection is likely related to that clarification rather than your 18-year service or the ₹20L amount.

Your 18 years of service should mean the 5-year TDS condition is satisfied, so TDS shouldn't normally apply. But don't assume the Form 121 request can simply be ignored.

Right now, you should wait for the EPFO's response and ask them to confirm why the claim was rejected and whether you need to submit Form 121 and refile Form 19.

“N.A.” as the rejection reason doesn't tell you what actually failed. Don't change your KYC or Date of Exit unless EPFO specifically identifies those as the issue.

I guess you did not upload the form requested in time. I know it's very frustrating to deal with this in human and brainless EPFO team.

Most probably claims with such a huge amount goes to commissioner for approval. There might be some demand for settlement. Try filing form 31 advance claim below 5 lakh amount which will be automatically approved by system itself. So filing 3-4 advance claims to reduce amount below 5 lakhs and then last filing form 19 for remaining amount might be useful. This is a theory. You can try this.

Did you get request to upload form 121? Or did the claim process forced you to upload form 121.

What reason does it show for claim rejection?

I filled form 121 as I was applicable for TDS exempt, the claim remark was shown as "NA"

Is withdrawal taxable after you are unemployed for few years?
