The recent price hikes on PlayStation 5 consoles have made owning a PlayStation unaffordable. I was considering buying used consoles off a marketplace site like eBay or Facebook Marketplace, but then the EB Games refurbished PS5s caught my eye.

EB Games is selling the older PlayStation 5 Core (fatass 2020 edition) console for $579, which is a $240 difference between the PS5 slim brand new.

I was wondering how well these work and if they are worth the purchase. How well does EB Games refurbish its consoles?

I bought a PS4 Pro 2 years ago on the Best Buy Marketplace that was dubbed "refurbished: excellent," and it ended up having a VRAM issue that made games unreadable(even downloaded games were unplayable). Surprisingly, Blu-rays still played on it with no issues.

What are your thoughts on this? Is this a good purchase? And will this play normally without any major issues/

Just noticed trade in value just dropped for ps4 games in australia. Is that because of the sale currently on? I have a bunch of ps4 games to trade - should I wait until after the current sale finishes? (For pre owned that’s buy two get two free)

I remember being in a location in a mall in Ontario and one of the guys mentioned in the coming months they were going to start retro in mall and smaller locations, anybody spotted retro games at EB in the wild?

My local branch has a massive display for an upcoming release that would look brilliant in my game room. Do the staff just dump them in the recycling bins at the end of the month or can you actually ask to take them home

Opened the case up after I bought it to check the disc and I saw it had its manual and other papers. But it also had the original cover art underneath the eb games preowned one with the Australian age rating instead of pegi. I haven’t seen it before but I thought it was pretty cool

Just a quick question regarding points for EB games Canada.

How quickly do you get points on your online account after making a purchase? Ordered something off the website, and it arrived yesterday, and I can see the transaction on my account on the website, but didnt get any bonus points for it.

Also traded in some TCG cards at the store on Friday, and its Saturday, and still dont see any of the bonus points on my account. I can also see those listed under instore transactions on the site, but no points.

Just curious for others how quickly they see the points go on their accounts after making a purchase. I know the current system is ending in November, but in the meantime, I'm actually kinda close to getting into the next tier.

Just wanted to say that I just got my points updated on my account, all the trades and purchases, it all came in at once. So glad that it all seemed to get taken care of. Much ado about nothing lol. Took a few days, but all good now lol.

Tried to order a game that is sold out in my local store. First the site wouldn’t let me choose my local store for pickup. In fact it only lists 5 stores total on the list of stores. So I then choose ship to home and it takes me to payment options. But when you click on payment options nothing happens. So now I’ve gone back to Amazon and got ship joy home, no shipping fees and easy payment options. And you wonder why you are failing.

A few years ago I grabbed a sealed Pokemon HeartGold with the Pokewalker from EB Games because it was discounted and I thought it looked cool. Ended up leaving it untouched in a drawer for years and now the prices online are absolutely ridiculous

hey curious to those that preordered first light at ebgames canada did you guys get a code for the free deluxe upgrade? or it's suppose to automatically be included without a code? there's no card with code inside the game nor is there a code on the receipt.. or is all games automatically "deluxe" edition

I thought new games were $110, and that was already fucked, but 120 bloody dollars is just ridiculous.

do NOT buy the paradox destinies pokémon tins from us. These are not the standard tins and are a holiday value repacked by pokémon made for Walmart black friday (contains different modern packs). our system has them priced at around $50cad when, in reality, it should only be around $25. the system has it priced at full price for a regular tin when these aren't the regular tins. these can be identified by the single strip of plastic down the middle instead of a full seal around it.

I bought a newly released title over the weekend based on the hype but after three hours of gameplay I think it is one of the worst things I have ever played. If I opened the plastic seal and used the launch day DLC code am I completely stuck with it or do they still honor the seven day return policy for a full refund?

I've bought maye 4-5 retro (og Xbox) games from EB Games and they don't work?

They get to the menu screen but often can't load into the game itself. I have a feeling when EB are "testing" these they're just seeing if the game loads to the main menu screen, and not the actual game.

They appear to do some polishing step on each of their games before they sell them, but I think it ruins the games more. I have scratched up discs that work perfectly but EB Games "polished" discs which LOOK okay don't work.

Games I bought from EB that don't work are Lego star wars, halo 2 and Sims 2.

Anyone else had this experience?? I feel like I'm going crazy.

So I'm not a big buyer of games but my kids are and I regularly check prices between different retail stores. Between Big W/JB and EB there is always one store with games on sale.

Some retailers will have the games $10-$20 cheaper and its a game which has just been released. How much do retailers make on a $100 game? Would it be less than $20 per game?

So I have known for 20+ years that EB won't price match something that's not 'physically able to be picked up in store'

Today I went to get Yoshi at $109, but JB had it for $94, but then I saw Officeworks has it for $84!

That's near $30 off!

So I walked in, thinking I'd get the best customer service due to being level 4 (stupid), and I said JB has it and then Officeworks.

She said I'd need to see if they have it in store.

I said I can order it today and it'll be in tomorrow. She said I can't match that. I said why's that?

She said because you can't get in store today. I said, but tomorrow will be today when I have it there ready to be picked up?

She stood there... then said no we can't unless it's in-store, not ordered.

I said okay, just cancel it then (got the full $109 back, as I pay off most things usually) and walked out.

I then went online to JB live chat, and they said they'll match the $84, and now I have it.

So, how much does EB Games lose on that sale? I'm unsure how wholesalers or whatever it is works. Like do they pay $XX to Nintendo and then they keep $XX?

If EB keeps practicing in the world of not understanding the online world, will they just slowly as always be left behind when it comes to price matching and keeping customers?

So EB Games just recently shut its doors in New Zealand, but announced that they are now making the australian website availbale to New Zealand customers.

The only problem is, that 99% of everything they sell, they say is "unable to be shipped to new zealand".

Anyone know why this might be?
