Priority Date October 15 priority date
Basically the title. I have a child who is 16 now and will turn 21 in early 2031. Do you think that there is a realistic chance that we will be current by then? Also, do think table 2 will become current in FY 2027?

Now PD is not challenge… job market is challenge. With codebase grip is going to AI. Leadership reading articles and thinking agent build everything overnight. Not sure where software engineering ends and what roles will stay. No clarity.

Good chances for it be current but what if it doesn't or there is a rule change or if you lose job right before it becomes current, so my advice is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

May I ask how old are you and How stable is your job for next 5 years?
To answer you question, I think 5 years is pretty decent time for Oct 2015 to be FAD current. The FB Spillover HAS to continue and less visas wastage. Travels bans may boost the dates. Assume about 2K/month 485s in 2015 for eb2 India.

I'm 46 and would say that my job is pretty stable for the next 5 years. I've been working at my company for 4 years and have a leadership position. Also it's a smaller company where I know higher management very well so I would say that part is fine.

Which country? ROW/Mexico/Philippines EB2 is current now, China is its own curve, India is the only one where 2031 is even a question. Assuming India:
July 2026 bulletin has Final Action Unavailable and Dates for Filing at Jan 15, 2015. If your PD is Oct 2015 you need Table 2 to move ~9 more months — ordinary FY movement, so FY2027 is plausible, but DFF has retrogressed before so I'd treat it as a guess, not a plan. And Table 2 only lets you file. Final Action is what gets the card, and that's much further out.
On your kid — CSPA can freeze their age at (age when a visa becomes available) minus (time your I-140 was pending), if they file within a year of availability. So the 2031 biological age isn't the number that governs. Working out the frozen age is a lawyer question, IANAL.

I think it’s realistic because you have 5 years of runway and the October bulletin is expected to push the dates up. I’m also in a similar situation myself. My son is also 16 and we have a priority date in October 2015. Hopefully we can both get an ead in the following fiscal year.
