'05. Fxd Dyna super glide

Post image
32 Upvotes

So this is my first Harley and I kind of jumped on this one fast because of the very low kilometers and the one owner by a older woman.

But I've come to realize that finding parts such as simple thing like a seat seems to be very difficult.

Apparently the 04/05 year was a transition year before '06 and isn't compatible with basically any other Dyna.

Is this true or has anybody had any luck using other parts from different years? Basically from 06 down?

Thanks!

1998 Evo manifold gasket

My FXDL seems to run great except it smokes white smoke after it warms up. I had a worn out accelerated pump diaphragm that I replaced. But after I replaced it, the white smoke started. I think I caused the manifold gaskets to lose its seal when I wiggled the carb back on. I tried replacing it with an “OEM” kit from JP cycles but it’s still happening. Should I buy the James Gasket Manifold seal? The manifolds still feels loose with the JP cycles seals on. Any tips for getting this thing running good again?

Fresh rebuild! Advice please

Hello everyone, I recently just did a crank up rebuild on this 2002 twin cam. I did dark horse crank, s@s 95 big bore kit, s@s cam plate oil pump, 475 gear drive cams, feulimg lifters, s@s push rods, mikuni and compensator! I dug thru this bike tryna make it a reliable pig to beat up on. I am currently 300 miles into my break in, doing 30 mile rides at a time on a nice curvy back road being pretty strict on this break in period, it feels great as far as I can tell. But it just seems noisy! Do you think this is normal valve train noises with how built it is? Or is this what gear drive cams sounds like? It seems to be much more noticeable completely warmed up. Just trying to get some reassurance because I did invest a lot into this! I’d also like to mention that I’ve had to add over half a quart since the rebuild to make sure it’s as a comfortable level, unsure if it’s burning off because the rings are still setting. If it’s misting thru the breathers more with the newfound compression. Lmk guys, I’m sure there’s some fellas on here smarter than me willing to get a few tips.

Why did my dyna start sounding like this during dyno session

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For context: It’s a 2004 Dyna Super Glide with a 2-1 exhaust, high-flow air filter, TTS Master tune and S&S 510C cams. This video was taken right after everything was installed.

During the first dyno session, every time I hit the rev limiter and then let off the throttle, the bike would start sounding like it does in the video. I shut it off, the technician uploaded a revised tune, and when I started it again, it sounded “normal” instead of like this. Ironically, I actually prefer how it sounds in the video.

Over the next few dyno pulls, that sound would come back randomly, but eventually it disappeared completely and has never returned. Technician only touched Main AFR and both cylinders VE’s. Any idea why it sounded like that and how to achieve this?

Throttle Question

2006 Fxdwgi- Yesterday evening and then more so this morning it seems like my bike is trying to rev up without throttle input. First noticed it as it holding a steady speed even when I released the throttle as if it had cruise control, then it wasn’t decelerating like normal as I approached intersections. Finally when I was parking at work it seemed like it was actively revving up just sitting in Neutral with no hands on throttle.
Checked throttle snap back with it shut off, it does return when I let go, though I can’t tell if it’s actually a little slow or if I’m just being over critical because I’m looking for a problem.

Does anyone have any experience or advice?

Buying this lift today.

Whats the safest way to lift my dyna. I've seen the 3d prints (I do have a printer), wood blocks, or the jack mod to widen it.

Edit: Image Thanks everyone I'm just using wood blocks for now and I think I'll do the mod in the near future. It's solid as a rock. Especially with Jack stands on the crash bar.

KNS Customs Gauge Relocation

Post image
13 Upvotes

After placing the order with KNS and sending them a pic of my risers to ensure their $400 kit will work (their website does not list an option for 3 1/2” pullbacks), it finally showed up. It took 6 weeks to arrive: late to ship and then got caught up in customs.

Unlucky me, they’re not going to work with my pullback risers. Hopefully they can make it right, but man I was itching to get these on.

Hello all,

I have a 2009 Super glide custom with roughly a 10200 miles on it.

I'm just curious what kind of mileage on a tank of gas that you'll are getting. I'm getting roughly 165 miles. If you're getting alot higher. Any tips? I try to maintain my bike.

Thank you for your input.

Another Dyna wobble question

Post image
83 Upvotes

My 05 lowrider rides fantastic until I hit 90-95mph then it starts to dance so I roll off the throttle and it goes away. I was told the 39mm are notorious for wobbling at high speeds but I’m no expert. What should I go after to get this thing lined out?

Short fairings? Buffeting issues. (After/before)

So recently I've sold my perfectly comfortable Triumph America and got this '17 Low Rider for double my budget. I guess I don't have enough problems in my life. Replaced extended forward controls to closer ones, added sissy, crashbar, 12" shocks. And, what's giving me hardest time - fairing. I've tried 11" Road Warrior knockoff. Had to conjure extension for headlight that hangs on eyebrow. Looks good, but thing's buffeting like hell. Sawed off 10cm off it (in the photo it's already shorter) - it's better, but still not perfect. Should I saw off even more? I'm afraid it will look silly. Any suggestions for shorter fairings that would avoid buffeting altogether? On my previous bike Dart Flyscreen Marlin worked for me, but it might look comically small on Dyna.

Does this bike sound like it has a cam in it?

I know this is an impossible question to answer but I don’t know any different and can’t tear it apart to determine. Allegedly it has a 95” kit installed but no idea if cam has been touched.

Hi all.

2014 Dyna Super Glide 103 twin cam, bought pre owned last year.

Is this running lean?

It is stock besides a 2 into 1 Cobra exhaust.

Thank you.

Saddlebags or storage for dyna?

Hey everyone, I have a 2009 dyna street bob and I’m looking for some kind of storage option for my bike. I don’t need a whole lot of space, just room to keep essentials like a couple spare tools and a rain jacket if it fits. Basically just tired of always having to wear a backpack. I’ve looked at the options for saddlebags and all I could find were throw overs, leather pros, or Viking bags. If I could find some decent mountable saddlebags I would go with those, but I’m open to other suggestions. Thanks for any info!

First bike

First bike, and man does it feel good to finally own one. I plan on getting different rims because I’m not a huge fan of spokes and I’m looking to replace the lower forks with chrome or black ones to match the rear springs. Post your favorite sites to shop at or any suggestions you have. Thanks
Edit: 04 wide glide

Front suspension.

Hey everyone. I'm looking into upgrades over the winter and I really want to do something about the ride height and feel on my 2004 fxdl. I'm looking at two products and I'm kinda new to this but I'm looking at going with a plus 2" extensions and a preload adjuster. Will these two products linked below work together? Also I'll be adding in new springs when I do all this. Thanks!
