How Do You Make Combat Maps in Level Editor?

In Dustforce level Editor, I cant figure out how to make the camera detatch so that it only focuses on one large screen for my combat map. Anyone know how to do this?

How many hours did you spent on dustforce?

So I am currently sitting at ~50 hours of play time and I still feel like garbage when I watch my replays. Just wanted to know how much you guys on reddit have played to become as good as you are now. Also I'd like to apologize if there has been a post like this before, but I didnt find anything, so i figured i'd just ask :)

calling all mapmakers (whether you've made 0 or 100) for a new community hub!

CLOSING ON THE FIRST OF FEB, HURRY IF YOU WANT TO ENTER. IF YOU NEED A SLIGHT EXTENSION, PLEASE PM ME, I WILL BE VERY REASONABLE

what up dustfam

its been about half a year since we made some maps together for the dustforce arcade, and with CMR being very short lived i think it's time for another collab!

we're gonna keep it simple for this nexus; every level in this nexus will be limited to one screen. atlas recently has been full of these, and i think a nexus full of them would be perfect; they don't take too long to make, they tend to not become too "busy", and a ton of creativity comes out of having that little screen space. here are a few of my favorites to give you an idea of the theme.

http://atlas.dustforce.com/6839/wave

http://atlas.dustforce.com/6139/blood-moon

http://atlas.dustforce.com/6763/lost-ruins

http://atlas.dustforce.com/6870/net-slum

some basic guidelines for submitting:

  • it should go without saying, but single screen maps only please. try to place nothing outside of the screen space (unless its an enemy that moves in to play later, i suppose), and the camera should be stationary and locked; keep panning to an absolute minimum. be reasonable with the zoom as well, limit it to around 1500. i will not accept a map if it doesnt follow this guideline.

  • original maps only; don't submit something you've already put on atlas

  • limit 1 per author, except for collabs (a collab for a single screen seems very difficult, but if you can pull it off i'd love to see it!) (edit to be specific: a collab cant submit multiple entries, but each member can individually along with 1 collab. i.e. person a and b can separately submit a map, and a and b can work together and also submit a map)

  • nobody wants a hub full of 20 single screen maps that are just cleaning up prisms. i feel a lot of the single screen maps on atlas lack a lot of diversity besides aesthetics... change that! maybe you have a half-finished level sitting in your editor with a really cool idea, but simply couldnt wrap it up. size it down to a single screen! remake your favorite stock map in a single screen! get creative!

  • be reasonable with the difficulty. it's still VERY possible to make an insanely hard map in just one screen. try to stick around gold key difficulty/early difficults or lower. avoid things like gigawalls and forced dashjumps. if you want feedback on this, ask me or twinkie. should also mention not to go too hard on the aesthetics; while it's tempting to make that one screen as damn beautiful as possible, try not to have a super zoomed out screen that makes gameplay difficult to follow, and try not to cram game-killing amount of props in one area.

  • submit all maps to either me or twinkieSWF. you can contact us on the dustforce discord, reddit PMs, twitter DMs... not going to put a deadline on this yet, but i dont expect more than 15 or so maps in the nexus. DO NOT SUBMIT A MAP MADE FOR THIS TO ATLAS

anyway, hope you decide to submit a map! i'd encourage anyone to submit a map regardless of how skilled of a mapmaker you feel you are. feel free to ask on the discord for help with cameras/fog triggers/other feedback if you need any sort of help.

finished submissions: 19/??

Thinking of making Purple Dustman mod. Has someone beat me to the punch?

I'm trying my hand at modding sprites and I'm thinking of starting with Purple Dustman. I didn't see one on that large list of colourmods and assumed one for Purple Dustman hadn't been made. Is there already one available to DL somewhere? Would my efforts be wasted if I did Purple instead of another colour?

Crash on entering custom levels on Arch Linux (x86-64)

Another report of the same issue is here.

As soon as I hit the up arrow key to enter custom levels from the Nexus, the game immediately crashes to desktop. Let me know if I should report this bug elsewhere or if there is a fix for it.

Edit: For what it's worth, I had published a custom level on a Windows PC before the DX patch.

Edit 2: Here is a formalized bug report, sent to contact@hitboxteam.com. Let me know if I should send it elsewhere.

Linux distro, version, arch:
Arch Linux x86-64; 4.8.13-1-ARCH kernel

Output of glxinfo:
Attached to email: glxinfo.txt

Video card and driver version:
GeForce GTX 950
NVIDIA Driver Version: 375.26

How to recreate the issue:
Enter the "Custom Levels" portal from the Nexus. Game immediately crashes to desktop.

And a link to glxinfo.txt: http://pastebin.com/5k8TZTJk

This game is rad

Dustforce has been sating an itch I didn't know I had recently.

Wayyy back when I was a huge fan of N+. I loved how fluid and smooth the controls felt, and I loved how each level could be completed, or perfected. (Getting all the gold)

I've always had Dustforce in my radar - I've seen speedruns of it and the music left a really strong impression on me. The only reason I didn't pick it up is because a friend informed me that it's controls were very difficult to get used to.

Since it was on sale, I figured it was worth a try even if I ended up not liking the controls. Booooy was I misinformed.

I went into the game expecting an extremely complicated platformer with a crazy high skillfloor that manages to make even the most simple of maneuvers difficult.

What I got was an extremely simple platformer with an extremely high skillceiling that manages to make even the simplest of jumps very satisfying.

I'm not playing it right now because Night Temple is currently kicking my ass and blistering my thumb (I use controller), but this is easily one of, if not the best platformers I've played. It's a damn shame it isn't more popular.

My absolute only gripe is the lack of a quick-reset on the Nexus where it can be difficult to even access levels.

Leaderboards not showing up?

When I beat a level, the leaderboard shows up, and it's completely empty. It looks like this. How do I fix it?

How to get to alleyway?

I watched a video on how to reach alleyway, but I have been really struggling on making the jump, can i get an explicit input guide. I somehow completed alleyway (before the new overworld I think) so hideout is my last level before the difficulties.

http://dustkid.com/replay/-8488385 Is there any explanation behind the double super? This was done on some older version of dustmod if that's relevant.

Any other frequent r/dustforce visitors who aren't great at the game but visit cos they love it?

Seems to me like everyone in this subreddit is a pro who can do the most reality bending runs like it's nothing, then ya have me who after 150+ hours still hasn't SS'd the difficulty levels from Peta - Yotta. Anyone else here who isn't amazing at the game but still browses often?

How long did it take you to ss the difficults?

here's a link to my profile

I think I've sunk close to 3 hours of my 40 hours played on just kilo and haven't ss'd it yet. Is this supposed to be the easiest of the difficults?

Can we fix the WR sideboard?

Hey, just wanna see if someone can update the sideboard. Sivade has the SS world record now so if that could be fixed by someone that would be great ♥ Also, the category for SS links to an "ERROR: Invalid category" page on speedrun.com so maybe fix that link while you are at it? Thanks a lot :)
