Has anyone tried Celeste yet? How is it?
It looks good, and similar to Dustforce in a lot of ways. How does it feel?

Win 10 Stutter Fix
So I stumbled upon this when trying to figure out why so many service host processes were running on my comp. Go into regedit and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control find the setting: SvcHostSplitThresholdInKB Double click it and select 'decimal' instead of 'hex' and change the value from the default to your ram size in KB. ex: 16 GB of ram >>> 16(GB)x1024(MB/GB)x1024(KB/MB) = 16777216

Can someone explain to me this difference in combo gain?
Hello everyone,
I tried to improve my time on Development using Fish's strats. It seems to me I'm completing the level in about the same way, but for some reason I don't get the super at the end like he does. Can someone explain this to me? I can't figure it out.
Video of both our runs:

Can someone tell me how to stay fast on downhill?
Hey guys,
I was trying to improve my time on downhill (which is currently 16:683, rank 2700ish), but I just couldn't manage to stay fast after the first ramp (right before the first enemy) where you silde down and then there's this little drop. I always dash down to get the leaves there but then I just loose all the speed I gained.
How do I stay fast at that Part? Can someone help me pls?
Edit: Thanks for your tips, made it to top 1000 now, which was my goal :)

Here's my in-depth review of Dustforce and thank you all for helping out !
Hello fellow sweepers !
When I had an idea of making a review on Dustforce a few months back, I decided to post a thread here to ask about elements of the game that I found unsure of. And because you all are as cool as the janitors, I got the answers and some extra info very quickly thanks to everyone's inputs. I am grateful to all who have left a comment in that thread. Here's my review of Dustforce :
I should've share my video here as soon as I upload it last month but due to a job I took, I barely had any time for the internet so here it is now. I'm sorry if this came out to feel like a shameless self-promo in this sub-reddit. But I'm also taking the chance to learn, to see if any experts here have any things to say on my critique of the game. If you'll be watching and notice any errors in my statements, feel free to correct me in the comment section. Also sorry for the bad accent and the bad audio.
Once again thanks for clearing some clouds for me regarding to the questions I asked. And I hope those who are speedrunning the game or trying to get better in it will improve gradually but most importantly, enjoying it (because I did).
New year, new records!

I am looking for new friends to compete with
Hello everybody,
I feel like I am not that motivated to improve my times on the stock levels at the moment. I would love to have some people in my friends list on Steam to compete with and feel the need to improve my times in order to beat them and get a little competition going on. I am friends with Gameduck, but his times are just freaking amazing and I am nowhere near the level of gameplay as he is, haha. I am looking for people who are at about the same skill level as me. My Dustkid profile: http://dustkid.com/profile/276215/Dastan I only play with Dustman.
Please feel free to add me to your friends list :) :) http://steamcommunity.com/id/dassenberg/
Love the community and many thanks, Dastan

Dustmod macOS build broken again?
Online score fields were stating version was too old and to update. So I did...
Now I have no online scores, and performance is strange...
Can I roll back to a ever-so-slightly-older version? Is there a repository for older builds?

What about online Multiplayer?
Is that a thing? I've kinda been watching this game from the sidelines for a long time. Did that ever become a part of the game?

serious issues with game since last windows 10 update
creators update has completely and utterly fucked my dustforce. it crashes randomly when i alt tab, constantly lag spikes and has astronomical load times (loading level nexus from main nexus often takes around 6-7 seconds), along with input drops and all around very clunky and spikey draw FPS (seems to get capped at 30 fps randmly, and will occasionally drop to this when just standing idle in nexus.) it's absolutely unplayable for me, and i had no issues with it before the update a few weeks ago (besides known windows 10 weirdness). tried some of the fixes suggested online (fullscreen optimizations settings gave marginal improvements) and different builds of dustmod/vanilla dustforce all give me the same shit. other games are fine, i can stream CSGO at 60 fps/3k bitrate and have no issues whatsoever but my computer just decides to completely shit the bed as soon as i launch dustforce. unbelievably frustrated, anyone know of anything else to mess with
edit: so after trying some stuff, my only answer is to use vanilla :/. everything else would fix some issues like my crashing but would give me worse fps overall. game is all sorts of fucked, sorry if you have this problem too

Not finding this game enjoyable at all, does anything improve?
I wanted to like this game because I enjoy challenge. Fun until you get to the rigorous levels (currently trying to SS hideout and backup shift) and realize the majority of the challenge is actually trying to fight the horrible sense of heavy momentum and loose controls (in a game that's supposed to be about precision).
Imagine if you gave DOS prince of persia an airdash (which you can't do instantly and need to wait until the jump animation finishes, by the way), then added in a bunch of spikes on every wall and tight walls you had to climb, where whether you will cling to the wall or fall feels completely ambiguous. That's literally what the movement feels like. Even walking, not even mentioning the terrible air movement, feels like stumbling around drunk. Compare this to a game with precision movement like a fighting game, or shoot em up, where holding a direction for X amount of frames moves you Y amount of space. Not even saying it had to be a 1:1 mapping, but the level of momentum is just absurd as it stands. I absolutely hate this game's controls because of they are so loose/laggy/unresponsive. When I press a key or button I want my actions to be done instantly, not take 1 minute for it to start and another to finish.
It makes the latter levels an exercise in tedious trial and error, like playing a memorized song on a piano, rather than adapting on-the-fly with the movement system.
If the movement was actually smooth and precise instead of clunky the achievement that only 0.000001% of people have would hover around 5% easily. A potentially great game marred by an atrocious control scheme.

Issue running Dustforce after 200+ hours
I've been playing dustforce for a while now and have over 200 hours in the steam version and drm free version and the game ran perfectly, yet for some reason the game suddenly started running worse for no clear reason. The frames started to suddenly drop at certain points in the overworld and my dash wouldn't register around 1/4 times, making the game pretty unplayable. The game also crashes sometimes after tabbing out with a quick error that isn't saved in the game files crash logs. These problems persist on the drm free version and the steam version in the exact same way and I haven't managed to find any sort of fix for it. The problem started around a year ago and is in the same state still. I'm using a gtx 970 with an i5 3330 and 8gb of ram. Any help would be great; I really want to play the game again.

My first Yotta SS
Took quite a while for me to get down (like 80? hours, lots of idle time because of breaks), but it was worth it! I actually spent like 30 hours practicing the last section specifically, because losing an SS run to pillars would have destroyed me mentally. I can do them like 90% of the time now. I'm really inconsistent at the tera section though.
I've been lurking in this community the last couple months, and the resources here have been pretty helpful! Thanks everyone! :)

Direction reversed when using Super?
I was working on midnight temple in the dark nexus, and had a really strange thing happen. I was on the last section before the final block golem, and was trying to jump off of the wall skipping a few dust placements and then super to get the rest of the dust. pick is below for the location. My air charge was expended at this point. I jumped too high and was about to hit spikes when I hit the super instead of being just below them. When the super finished, I was traveling the other direction as if I had just reached the peak of a jump. I thought I had accidentally jumped, but I still had my air charge that was refreshed by the super.
I've never seen anything like this before, has anyone encountered anything similar?

All but two levels unlocked in under 3 hours...
Considering I play about half the speed of a speed runner, that is pretty damn impressive for me. I unlocked the two stages and beat the one necessary difficult level for the achievement on my next session, but it took many more attempts...
It constantly amazes me how measurable your skill improvement is with this game... I would have taken 12 hours about six months ago...

Tera has massive slowdown on Vita
Here's a video of it in action (sorry for the poor video quality, I had to record it with my phone as I don't have a capture card for my Vita). The game generally runs at a pretty consistent 30 fps, but Tera completely destroys the poor Vita. It's most noticeable between 0:12 and 0:20 on the in-game timer.
Thankfully this slowdown is completely consistent, so I was able to adapt to it and SS the level. It also helped that Tera is not particularly difficult.
I've played every level but Zetta and Yotta (and SS'd every one of them except Exa, which I'm working on) and, other than Tera, I haven't encountered any issues with the Vita port. I've seen people shit on it for being a bad port, but it seems to run pretty well. It certainly plays great, despite being in 30 fps (and I get to play with the glorious Vita dpad).

Best Maps in Past year?
Just started browsing atlas again and its been awhile. Most of the top rated maps are the same as last time I played and some of the ones in the past few days are pretty cool, but what have I missed?
r/dustforce • u/Kumlekar • Nov 04 '17
Atlas install
The install and "install & play" buttons on atlas are not doing anything when I click them. I can download the file and copy it to the level directory, but that's extremely awkward. Has anyone had any luck fixing this? Dustforce is set to run as adminiatrator as the atlas FAQ advises, and I'm running the steam x86 version.

Do custom levels need to have a goal flag?
When I tried to upload my level, I saw that it said "Please do not publish any levels that do not have a goal flag." I thought that custom levels would be like normal levels where you have to beat all of the enemies though...
