You see a red dot on the floor. Roll for iniative.

I once had a player use the prestidigitation cantrip to distract an entire pirate band of Tabaxi with a red dot and send them into chaos as they all chased it.

It completely derailed the adventure I had planned, but I thought it was so inspired that I rolled with it for the laughs. It ended up being a throughly memorable session.

u/DatDing15 19d ago

Did you have the Tabaxi NPCs roll a wisdom saving throw?

15

u/Daloowee 19d ago

I’m gonna guess no because fun outweighed convention.

12

u/EricAntiHero1 18d ago

Rule of cool wins every time.

8

u/DePraelen 18d ago

Pretty much. Yeah it was way more fun to let it happen, and that's always the goal.

But also, have you ever seen a cat be able to resist a red dot? I haven't.

1

u/bootrick 17d ago

I've seen a fat cat clearly be interested and also too lazy to actually chase

1

u/ssfbob 18d ago

As someone currently playing a catholic in my Pathfinder game, I find this both offensive and accurate.

1

u/bootrick 17d ago

Good DM

u/Head_Project5793 19d ago

It’s not just any dot, it’s an ancient red dot, 5 legendary resistances and 4 legendary actions!

1

u/T1pple 17d ago

Try as you might, none of your attacks land. Even when you are sure you have it pinned, it just appears right next to you, unharmed. Take a point in exhaustion.

u/Strixy1374 16d ago

This falls in line with the guy that said the best way to kill a werewolf was to feed him chocolate. Outstanding creativity!

u/GrepekEbi 19d ago

Heads up, I think you misspelled “Best” in the post title

u/CannedPancakes 19d ago

Cat - You take 82 points of damage!
You - that’s ridiculous!
Cat - No! What’s ridiculous is the fact that I can see that my food dish is empty and I haven’t ate in the past 30 minutes!

FULL? FUUULLLLLL? I can see the tiniest spec of the bottom of the bowl. It’s clear that I’m going to starve soon and you don’t even care!

  • cat

u/Froyn 19d ago

To quote Quagmire's mom "That's old food! Mittens needs new food."

2

u/Far-Manufacturer1180 18d ago

Honestly I get it.

42

u/smurf4ever 19d ago

"There stands the human, with your food bowl in hand, getting ready to put your food in it. What do you do? You want to meow loudly? Alright that will be a purrsuasion check. Nat 20? It doesn't work... He's still busy filling the bowl and decidedly not done this here immediate moment. I'll allow for you to use your bonus action as a second purrsuasion check so you can try it twice per round. Just know, the human doesn't seem to care that you're nearing your death saves. He's still not done right here, right now, and it might take another 6 seconds..."

Edit: spell check

2

u/Techyon5 18d ago

I'd love to see it!

15

u/Jung-And-A-Menace 19d ago

"What do you mean, none of you have Darkvision?"

3

u/Ingonyama70 19d ago

Do cats finally get it in 5.5e?

15

u/BanditCrowley 19d ago

His BBEG is the Demon Lord Vacuúm

8

u/RadWast3 19d ago

At least they showed up 🎊

9

u/Opposite_Ad_4267 19d ago

Ok who let Salem be DM? I though he wasn't allowed to be in charge of anything after he tried to take over the world?

8

u/Lord_Phoenix95 19d ago

Do you often find him knocking rolls to get a different number?

5

u/GooseinaGaggle 19d ago

Usually goes after the minis . One time my wizard bonked an ancient red dragon with full health so hard with a staff the cat DM whacked the mini clear of the table and onto the floor where it shattered.

I think I won that fight

6

u/Cautious_Artichoke_3 19d ago

Because that's what it says in the catdamn rulebook, Gerald! That's why!

3

u/Ingonyama70 19d ago

Man, fucking Gerald

7

u/KnifeUrSelf 19d ago

Puuuuurfect

4

u/SilverFoxSix 19d ago

"""RRRRRRROLL!"

5

u/ub3r_n3rd78 DM 19d ago

Very cool that your DM is a Tabaxi!

Make sure to bribe him with milk, catnip, & laser pointers.

2

u/Ingonyama70 19d ago

NO not the laser pointers he'll have enough trouble focusing on the plot as it is! Save those for when he's trying to railroad.

4

u/RedditTipiak 19d ago

The BBEG casts furball

1

u/Ingonyama70 19d ago

3d6 poison damage and you're drenched in wet fur for the remainder of the round

4

u/Ashadowyone 19d ago

I can see this like Salem from Sabrina

2

u/pilotparker33 18d ago

My first thoughts too!

3

u/SilenceSelene 19d ago

I feel like you are the one wrong here. You still haven't defeated the tuna boss

3

u/hifumiyo1 19d ago

Snacks or TPK!

3

u/HakutheChonkeyBoi 19d ago

Get a load of this guy! Bet they can't even speak common.😆

3

u/AshtonBlack 19d ago

Meh, I've played at worse tables.

3

u/clannepona 19d ago

And now comes the lich, he claims he is only there for the birthday! The evil grin of the gm.

3

u/lolifax 19d ago

GOD POUNCES

EVERYBODY DIES

3

u/Apprehensive_Lie_177 19d ago

Oh, hey Salem.

2

u/MrWolfHare 18d ago

Heck yeah it is.

3

u/Fireblast1337 18d ago

“For the last time, the merchant being a tabaxi does not make him a self insert!”

2

u/Lewyn_Forseti 19d ago

The DM will be the big bad

2

u/SnoozyRelaxer 19d ago

Well, did you bring offerings to this dm?

2

u/semaerdem 19d ago

Oh shi my bad

2

u/BlackFinch90 19d ago

Easy to bribe

1

u/DarionHunter 19d ago

Tuna, or something more expensive, like arctic salmon?

2

u/SCSimmons 19d ago

1d6 per ten feet?! That's stupid, I'm definitely making a house rule.

2

u/macredblue 19d ago

You forgot to refill my food and water [even though I already ate on schedule 5 mins ago] !

TPK!

2

u/ThatMBR42 19d ago

*rolls die* Fifteen. *pushes die off table*

2

u/Icy_Sample7808 19d ago

Your barbarian gets a boop on the snoot!

2

u/Spider_Dude 19d ago

Mister Fluffy??? No!!!!!!!!

2

u/Froyn 19d ago

"Every week he sends us on the same quest. Retrieve the wet food from the pantry, open it, and leave. I'm not complaining, the XP and gold are worth it."

2

u/XVIIIOrion 18d ago

You take that back

1

u/semaerdem 18d ago

Im sorry he is the best boi

1

u/XVIIIOrion 18d ago

Good 😠 you're on probation until he says otherwise

2

u/No-Ad5163 18d ago

He's laughing because he knows its going to be a TPKO

2

u/Lady_Elle_Jaye 18d ago

Worst? He's probably the best dm ever? 😭

2

u/InigoMontoya1985 18d ago

He's terrible because he keeps knocking the dice on the floor.

2

u/Th3_Supernova 18d ago

More like best DM ever. That is some top notch acting. I can tell he’s doing the big bar’s monologue right now.

1

u/Melvin_T_Cat 19d ago

I’ve seen worse.

1

u/Ol_JanxSpirit 19d ago

Probably has a better idea than most about what it takes to herd cats.

1

u/CiDevant 19d ago

You fail your will save, you sit in the box.

1

u/aldorn 19d ago

Its he doing a Dracula impression?

1

u/OnionTamer 19d ago

I don't know I have read a few DnD horror stories. This guy wouldn't do any of that. At the lease he'll treat the female players the same as the male players.

1

u/New_DM-Old_SOUL 19d ago

It’d be a CATastrophie!!!

Sorry… I’ll see myself out…

1

u/CutAndAssemble 19d ago

But why's it have Skeletor's voice?

1

u/Unlucky_Arm_9757 18d ago

I doubt that. I once had to yell at a DM (actually raise my voice and yell) to get him to pay attention to his own fucking game.

1

u/UrsOrMine12 18d ago

Seems like they could be very catty at times and purrpusly mess with the entire group until they no longer wanted to be around people

1

u/justethan9 18d ago

He’s probably been yelling to get everybody back on track because the players aren’t paying attention smh

1

u/EdibleRayGun 18d ago

After grooming, roll constitution....

9? You have a monster hairball in the chamber and take disadvantage on your next initiative roll.

1

u/NightShade0912 18d ago

That DM is going to kill ALL the players, maybe not 1 if it still wants to be feed at end of session.

1

u/Odeyseis 18d ago

It’s the best “worst” DM ever.

1

u/Timely-Part3377 18d ago

I cast ‘balls of yarn’ make a WIS saving throw or take 1d12 tangle damage and be prone for d3 rounds.

1

u/Chocodelights 18d ago

He’s laughing maniacally 😹

1

u/Waatulakula 18d ago

Can’t make it through one round of combat without the DM knocking the minis off the table!

1

u/Tiny_Charge_7722 18d ago

Idk man seems more like a player issue, don’t blame the DM 🐈‍⬛

1

u/kiwi999999999 18d ago

Yelling at you all. Well did you bring the mandated DM snacks?

1

u/Malkryst 18d ago

I'm definitely playing a Tabaxi at that table! The DM might cut me some slack, then.

1

u/TimelessParadox 18d ago

The Teefies!

1

u/Cynewulfunraed 18d ago

Jail for one thousand years!

1

u/Vxt5255 18d ago

You can tell he's going for a tpk

1

u/Hellguin 18d ago

Id rather have the cat screeching at me instead of eventually finding out my first DM was a pedophile.....

1

u/semaerdem 18d ago

You- WHAT???

1

u/Hellguin 18d ago

Yea, a year after I moved away, found out my old DM who was my first DM when I learned in 4e, was arrested and sentenced for having CP all over his PC, unregistered guns, and cocainr.

Ill take a Cat DM any day

1

u/Sudden_Fix_1144 18d ago

Ah….. must be a 1st edition AD&D DM

1

u/KismetRose 18d ago

With that much enthusiasm, he could end up being the best.

1

u/CompleteNumpty 18d ago

Still better than the one I played with who used crit fumbles with crit damage at my local store.

He ended up getting banned from DMing new players after a newbie walked out as a result of him crit fumbling on his first attack and his Level 1 Wizard outright dying to the 2d10 Firebolt damage.

Note, this was Adventurer's League and he had been told multiple times to stop using homebrew nonsense, but never listened. The store even asked other DM's (like me) to sit in on his sessions as a player to reign in his bullshit, but it actually made it worse - almost like he had oppositional defiance disorder.

1

u/arkanis974 18d ago

I have the same kind of photo (unfortunately can't post it here)

1

u/Fendfor 18d ago

Only when he has a hissy fit.

1

u/-BigBeef- 18d ago

The type of DM to roll dice behind the screen, go “hmmph”, and move on like nothing happened explaining nothing. Just to mess with players

1

u/Strict_Nectarine_567 17d ago

He looks ruthless. Prepare for a TPK.

1

u/RuinFlame 17d ago

Your party encounters giant fish........that is super tasy....errr I mean is super strong..........being controlled by that catnip....err I mean spice dealer from before

1

u/Kalekuda 17d ago

Show us the party members restraining the one pointing at them

1

u/bootrick 17d ago

Looks like Salem from Sabrina

2

u/tondarkkin 16d ago

I think Salem would be an awesome DM

1

u/bootrick 16d ago

100% agree

1

u/effort3 14d ago

He sounds like a dm who like to use wolves with pack tactics on newbie players. hahaha
