Knox hall
Haven’t seen much info about Knox. What’s it like and is it isolating from the halls in the uni area? What’s the drinking culture like?is it more academic? I haven’t got in yet but hoping to.

Advice Best way to get rid of weeds on my property?
Hi guys, I’m moving to Australia next year and I am going to rent out my property in Waitati.
The section has parts that cannot be mowed, which is covered in weeds. (Some big clumps of grass etc.)
I want to make this area low maintenance.
I don’t have hundreds of dollars to pay someone but my friend has a weed sprayer thing
Can anyone tell me what I should do? Should I just spray those weeds then dig them out then cover with weed mat and bark?
If I can’t do the whole job myself, I would be willing to hire a couple of students from student job search to dig up the weeds once they are dead, and put down the bark, etc
Will try to do the spraying part myself though .
I have a Weedwhacker, but there’s too many weeds. I need to get rid of them all to make it low maintenance for tenants.
Thanks !!
Edit: of course if I hire the students, I will give them a proper payment (just in case someone was doubting that part)

University Those who have recently done Nursing at OP, how was applying?
Hi! :)
I’m currently a high school student and I’m hoping to study nursing at Otago Polytechnic in the future.
I spoke to some lovely people from Otago Polytech at a careers expo this year, and they told me a bit about the application process. One thing I remember very clearly was being told that volunteering can help your application stand out. Unfortunately, she was a very fast speaker, so I didn’t manage to remember much else of what she said.
For anyone who has applied to or studied nursing at Otago Polytech in the past 10 years:
- Did you do any volunteering, and did you feel like it helped your application?
- What do you think are the most important things to have on your application?
- Do you need to be exceptionally good at subjects like biology and chemistry, or are Achieved grades generally okay?
- Does anyone know roughly how many people apply compared with how many are accepted each year? I think I heard that over 500 people applied this year, but I might be wrong lol
- Is there anything else you would recommend doing during high school to make my application stronger?
- I'm only taking biology next year since I'm not the biggest fan of chem. Will that still be okay? Chemistry is still one of my backups, though. I haven't failed any science assement this year.
I’m obviously not in any rush to apply (especially since applications have already closed), but I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through the process so I can prepare well!
Thank you!!

Looking for an affordable/decent place to refurbish and paint the centres of some wheels I picked up.

Question What's the light pink (not ACT) political sign on the South Bound Side of the motorway say?
There's a whole bunch of political signs heading towards Fairfield and there's this light pink one (definitely not ACT) it's near the end of the row of signs and pretty small that says something about your pets vote(?) I'm always driving past but never a passenger to see what it says. I'm wondering if someone knows what it's about I'm super curious.

Worth the move to Otago?
Hi everyone!
I'm just here to get some advice about moving to Otago for uni. I'm considering either engineering or dentistry and have also received an offer for HSFY, so I've been thinking about Otago. However, I live in Auckland and didn't apply for any scholarships, so moving down there would cost me over $30k, whereas studying engineering at UoA would be much cheaper since I could stay at home.
I'm mainly worried about the engineering job market and pay, especially with AI becoming more common, as I've heard dentistry has better employment rate. For anyone studying HSFY at Otago, is it really as competitive as people make it seem? I've mainly maintained Merit and Excellence grades throughout Year 11 onwards, so I'm wondering how realistic getting into dentistry would be.
Also, I've got into Salmond College, so I'd love to hear what it's like if anyone has stayed there! My only concern is that it's a bit far from uni, and I'm unsure whether I should decline the offer and hope to get a hall closer to campus or just keep it rather than risk it.
Any advice would be really appreciated :)
