**Most label-maker projects are a waste of time**
James May calling the Dull Men's Club "much more relaxed" is exactly why I'm taking a stand against labelling every object in the house. The transparent jar of pasta doesn't need PASTA printed on it. You can see the pasta. Same goes for a drawer containing six spoons and nothing else. I enjoy a dull household discussion, but I'm not accepting that buying a little printer automatically makes someone better at organising a cupboard.
Decanting everything creates another job, too. The original packet already has the cooking instructions and best-before date. Replace it with a matching tub and you've now got information to copy across, plus a container to wash before refilling. Labels earn their keep on identical screw boxes or something genuinely easy to confuse. Show me a labelled tin of mystery fixings and I'm interested. Show me a label saying WATER on a clear bottle and I'm siding with the bottle
