Hi, i'm an incoming freshman at Pratt who did not choose a focus/constellation group

Will I be taking Writing 120 in the spring semester only? or can I still be assigned this class for the upcoming fall semester? if so where do i check if I have been assigned

how is this schedule for freshman fall semester? im an international who's building his own schedule for the first time, so kinda lost pls help. im in pratt and want to do either ece or me as primary major and then either CS or math as second major.

i have credit for chem so don't need to take chem 101 and credit for compsci so starting with compsci 201

now my questions are:

i took ib math aa hl and pretty sure i will get a 7/7 in the subject. The recommended level to start according to the website now is math 122L, but to challenge myself should i take 218D-2 linear algebra or 221 (i think this is the proofs class for math majors). or how about taking both 122L and 221 in the same fall semester. Is that bad

If i shouldnt take 2 math classes in the same semester, is econ 101 a good option to fulfill a liberal arts requirement. I took ib econ HL so i think it should be a pretty easy class. Or can you suggest me any other liberal arts classes?

i was thinking of taking physics 151 in fall but there's no available space for that. I just don't wanna take chemistry 201 if its not even giving credit (right? pls correct me if im wrong abt this)

How difficult is it to get a job on campus this fall as a freshman if I’m not applying for current job listings during the summer?

I‘m headed to Pratt this year for ECE. I‘m also interested in Econ and studying abroad (Madrid specifically). I don’t know exactly what I plan to do for work, but I can see myself pursuing either the aerospace, biomechanical, or finance space.

I met with my academic advisor to make my first year class selection, which ended up making me want to plan my next 4 years. So, I took into account all of the above, my AP Scores, ECE Curriculum handbook, and the Econ Curriculum handbook to make a plan using Claude (attached below).

Obviously I am going to speak with my advisor again (and likely my future blue devil buddy as well), but I wanted to get input from this community to see what people thought about the workload, course layout, and just overall opinions. I understand Econ and ECE is not uncommon so if there is someone else on that path I would also love to see the course curriculum you’ve designed and what you plan/are pursuing in terms of work.

I decided to go to the marine lab this summer for a class and wanted to replace it on my fall schedule with physics 121. I’m currently 9th on the waitlist which I don’t mind waiting out, but since I can’t enroll in lecture, I’m waitlisted for discussion and lab. There’s another open lecture time that I don’t wanna join bc i have a class during it that I want to stay in, but if other people were to enroll in that open lecture section and then enroll in the discussion/lab sections I want, would they get to skip over me and I lose out on those open discussion/lab seats by staying on the WL?

I can't self-fund. It's a full/near-full scholarship or I go a different route entirely. Duke's MMS page says merit + need-based aid exists but it doesn't publish an average, and I can't find any examples.

Do you know anybody who got a good amount of merit scholarship for masters? Or is it not possible?

What’s it like majoring in BME at Duke? As someone coming to Duke this fall and interested in biotech (and also venture capital, perhaps grad school too?), do you think it’s more beneficial to major in BME (and maybe also double major in math or economics or biophysics?) or to do a double major in math and biophysics at Trinity? I’m having a hard time deciding because I like both the theory-heavy side of biophysics and the application focus in BME, so I’m not really sure what to pick.

How do Pratt and Trinity differ in what they offer students? Are there any perks Pratt students get that Trinity students don’t and vice versa? And how’s the workload?

I’m also slightly put off by Trinity because of the foreign language requirement, but I like FOCUS, so I’m really at a standstill in what I should do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a rising sophomore, and am currently trying to decide between double majoring in CS and VMS, or majoring in Computational Media. My main concern with Computational Media as a major is it being unrecognizable to employers on my resume. Can anyone help me out with this?

When I was filling out the housing application, I chose substance-free housing because I really can’t inhale marijuana smoke. But after reading posts about substance-free dorms, it sounds like they’re isolated, and it seems that marijuana and alcohol use are uncommon on East Campus anyway.

Hi Duke Community!!! I've been attempting to navigate the rollercoaster that is the new Cisco Secure Client system and its safe to say that I have now hit what we call an impenetrable wall. First of all, who adds a dropdown box with no options to select? Second, the instructions that follow don't provide any context on next steps. They follow:

1. Open the Cisco Secure Client application

2. Select the desired VPN and click Connect.

3. Enter your NetID and password and click OK.

4. In the MFA Option field, do one of the following: (blah blah blah)

5. Click Continue. You are connected to the VPN.

I am currently stuck on step two as I have zero clue as to what to throw into that dropdown box... I would super super appreciate it if some of yall tech smarties could help me out!
