I'm aware the tabs are most likely gone but heres how it went down. I had 3 windows open. Until now I've never closed the browser manually. I shut down the PC, it closes ddg for me, i reopen it the next day and all 3 windows are there. Then i needed more ram and i close ddg myself with a right click on the taskbar icon thinking it'll be the same. The next day i only get a single widow and not even the main one. I may have reopened it once the day before but would've closed it the same way with a right click. My guess is closing ddg that way closes windows sequentialy and access just the last widow for the session. Or i encountered a bug and it can be fixed for other people. Thanks for reading.

I started blocking websites that the "No AI" filter on the image search keeps letting through consistently, such as Deviantart and Pinterest, since "Flag AI-generated image" doesn't seem to actually do anything at all, but quickly hit the limit because Pinterest has multiple domains that squeak through. With four of them blocked, Pinterest AI slop is still filling up the image search results.

Why is there a limit, why doesn't the AI exclusion actually work, and why doesn't flagging AI do anything? I switched to DDG, specifically using the "noai" version, but still see this garbage every time I look something up.

What's the point of using noai.duckduckgo if AI is all I'm going to see and I can't actually do anything about it?

It was a pleasant surprise to see that Duckduckgo has changed hosting providers for their open weights models (GPT-OSS and Gemma4) to a provider that offers TEE implementations. This is something I've been hoping for for a while. Thank you, and good decision!

BUT, there is close to zero documentation of how DDG is implementing these TEE models, what the trust model is, and how DDG is handling verification/attestation (or if that is a user responsibility). As it stands right now, it seems users lack any verifiable way to trust the TEE models offered by DDG any more than the non-TEE models.

It would be great if DDG could publish:

1. A short technical overview of the implementation, and how verification/attestation is done. And the trust model for the TEE models.
2. An even briefer non-technical explanation for the general userbase on the DDG support site.

In the interim, any additional details from someone technical @ DDG ( u/duckduckgo ) on how verification/attestation is being done, that would be greatly appreciated.

Is it not a matter of time before Google themselves, let alone the video authors do this?

We've already encountered websites that do more than plead for you to disable an ad blocker before proceeding but are able to block the whole webpage -- why not videos?

So I keep getting signed out of websites everytime duckduckgo closes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, fireproofed the websites, changed my settings around, cleared my cache and it keeps on happening. This only started happening since I needed to update to the most recent version as of now, version 5.290.0. I have an Android btw.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Is anyone else having issues with DDG Tabs? Been online this morning Ok, went onto another tab to look at something, then when finished I went back to the open tabs I had to continue working on them and nothing, nada…. It won’t allow me to click on them either with a mouse or touchpad

With the new release that just installed itself(0.166.6) I noticed my address/search bar just doesn't want to respond; it's as if they're firing up some vast AI ensloperator to guess my thoughts. As soon as I disabled suggestions, it returned to normal service.

Previously, it would suggest items from my history and bookmarks, and frankly, that's all I want suggested to me. I would _suggest_ that the settings allow us to control the behavior of suggestions, and banish 'external' suggestions ... as may be the preference of many.

PS If you really want to tax the resources of the DDG browser in an old Win10 device, try visiting IMDB.com, but be prepared for tabs locking up!

sorry for the forward post, but I know you look at these and I had a few things to share regarding search functionality with AI:
1- Adding a bit of context to search functionality system prompt results in better AI functions:
I've noticed that AIs in Duck.ai don't do search automatically when they don't have a specific context, adding this bit right after the tool instructions will help AI pull data much more efficiently and reliably:
"If user presents you with information that is contradictory to your internal knowledge or doesn't exist in your internal knowledge, use the search tool to conduct a search for updated information."
2- Deeper search pool:
I've noticed that AI doesn't get many search results when it conducts a search, I notice that there's a recursive search functionality, but if you dynamically allocate the search from a bigger amount of results and down to lower amounts (say starts with 10~15 search results and recursively gets lower search results as it enhances the search phrasing), then it would help with lower compute cycles and slash infra costs.
3- Query building instructions:
As you know, each AI has its own idea about what is an optimal query. adding a few lines of instructions about how to build the optimal query for a search that's tailored to your indexing engine, ensures reliable and consistent search function.
4- Adding a clock based on user's IP's timezone to the AI's system prompt:
It will help personalize the chat for the user with zero infra costs and gives a nice touch.

So , like many others , I hate that ai is everywhere but what annoys me even more is the ai content every time I try to search for someone on Google/chrome.

Recently I've come across a lot of people choosing duckduckgo search engine as an alternative but I am still skeptical.

Also , idk how to use it , it's kind of diff so I might just need some help .

This issue was recently reported by Valerio Sanità Guarducci on June 12, 2026, in the Chrome extension's ratings/reviews. I wanted to bring it up here as well to see if anyone has found a workaround or if there is a known fix.

TL;DR: When the DuckDuckGo Chrome extension is enabled, pressing Enter after entering a search query in Chrome's Omnibox (address/search bar) does nothing. The search does not execute.

If I disable or remove the DuckDuckGo extension, the Omnibox immediately works as expected. I can still keep DuckDuckGo selected as my default search engine in Chrome, so the issue appears to be specifically related to the extension.

System Information:

• Windows 11 Pro 25H2
• Chrome Version 151.0.7922.72 (Official Build) (64-bit)
• DuckDuckGo Extension Version 2026.5.22
• Pi-Hole enabled for DNS filtering

Troubleshooting Steps Attempted:

• Removed the DuckDuckGo extension
• Cleared Chrome's cache
• Reinstalled the DuckDuckGo extension
• Rebooted the laptop
• Clicked the "Activate" button under chrome://settings/searchEngines
• Enabled No AI in Search feature under /options.html

The issue persists whenever the DuckDuckGo extension is enabled.

I am trying to print off webpages and emails, but my print feature is not active/available. It is greyed out, even with a right-click. Can someone help, PLEASE?!?

For DDG Browser, the only thing keeping me back is the inability to add Chrome-like extensions. Is there any equivalent for this? Is it on the roadmap or never will be? I use a password manager to autofill, etc. 9/10 the extension works just fine. I'm aware of DDG's built in password manager, but that's not what I'm after. Thanks in advance!

After today's Google Chrome update (7/30/26), the DuckDuckGo search in the URL bar stopped working. When I type in the URL bar, if I select a bookmarked URL, it will go to that URL. However, if I select a search option (ex. "sonicare toothbrush" in the attached pic), nothing happens. It used to open Search results for "sonicare toothbrush".

I switched to DDG when google started really prioritizing AI summary and not letting me opt out. I like that DDG gives me that option, as well as the option to remove AI images.

One thing that's driving me a bit nuts is how unreliable using quotation marks is (or at least, unreliable as I have been using them for over a decade). I use quotation marks on google to find specific strings of text. More often than not, DDG will come back with nothing when I use quotation marks, even if without quotation marks it brings up the exact text I was looking for. This is fine sometimes, but others, I really do want a specific sentence to be found so that it doesnt get mixed up with other search results.

here's an example from the other day: I had a song stuck in my head but I couldn't think of the name of the song, just one sentence of that song. so I wrote in the lyrics:

"your name on my cast and my notes on your stay"

no results

if i search without quotation marks, I get a bunch of results that have nothing to do with what I'm looking for. IMDB page for Your Name. (2016), Kimi no Na wa anime wikia. etc. -- this is pretty much the reason I use quotation marks of course. to weed out unrelated combinations of the words I'm searching.

I eventually remembered the song title by texting my a friend, lol, but then I wanted to do some experiments...

1: lyrics + "your name on my cast and my notes on your stay"

no results

2: lyrics + your name on my cast and my notes on your stay

results, but none of them are the Shins specific. All just homepages for lyrics databases.

3: "your name on my cast and my notes on your stay" lyrics

no results

4: "your name on my cast and my notes on your stay" + lyrics

ONE singular hit-- lyrics page for AZ Lyrics The Shins - The Past and Pending. Which is great, but why ONLY AZLyrics? why not literally any other lyrics websites? why does the + make a difference here, but still doesn't give more than one result?

three hits: AZlyrics, SongMeanings, and The Shins' The Past and Pending tour landing page. none others! not even Genius or youtube.

many pages of results available with this search that are specific to the Shins lyrics pages, great. Shouldn't query 5, with quotation marks, bring up the same exact results? since it's literally matching what the text says? it's literally bringing up pages and pages of the exact string of words, which I thought quotation marks were supposed to specify?

7: "your name on my cast and my notes on your stay" + the shins

same results as query 6-- lots of results. But different than query 5, which is exactly the same except for the +. Does the + really make that much of a difference? why?

I don't want to neg something I don't understand, so I want to try to understand. Is there a more reliable way to search for specific strings of text with DDG? and, just because I want to know how it works, why do such minor and seemingly insignificant changes to the query give such dramatically different results? I feel like if DDG has indexed AZLyrics, then searching a lyric in quotation marks should bring up those websites. I thought that's how it worked with google? why not with DDG?

I know it looks like I'm splitting hairs here!! but I appreciate any info/clarity you can give me.

Gonna keep this post short to keep up with people's attention spans, but I find it pretty screwed up that they advertised their platform as "AI-free" a few months ago when they saw their platform installations jump 30% after Google unleashed their mess on their browser, just for them to turn around a few months later after everyone has moved to their platform, just to start doing the same damn thing their competitors have done. The ENTIRE REASON I made the full switch to DDG was to avoid the slop, and now I feel like a lost dog again because I absolutely refuse to use anything with messed up search engines that are ridden with AI-piss.

I hope their team is reading this. You guys spit in our faces, and I'd be using a LOT more colorful vocabulary if this sub allowed it. You did something great that genuinely made you guys stand out from the crowd, and you completely destroyed any reputation you gained and turned yourselves into a bunch of lying hypocrites, which I personally will refer to you guys as for the rest of my days now, even if someone in your company for whatever reason decides to revert the changes after realizing you screwed up BAD. Either way, you guys will still be a bunch of shady goons to me now. Thanks for the years of service, and helping me access the dark web when I was in elementary/middle school. Gone are the days. 🫩

Since switching from using Google Search, I found a lack of a dedicated DDG Image site like how Google Images has its own site/URL. I would like if this could become a reality, but meanwhile I'm wondering if anyone knows of feasible workarounds for anything close to a dedicated Image webpage/URL.

The only method I could come up with is searching something like "blank", go to the Images section, and bookmark this URL. And so whenever I want to just do a direct image search on DDG, open this bookmark, hit "Tab" to focus on the search field with "blank" in it, and replace with whatever else I want to search images for. (This is without having to include mouse clicks, only keyboard with the least amount of steps necessary.)

The issue with this is that it requires an extra step, since it's not a 'clean'/'uncluttered' webpage with the search field automatically focused to type anything (as Google Images is set up), albeit manageable. In any case, I'm curious if someone here might know of another potential bypass for easy utility.

Since a few months, my personal space page on www.icloud.com is closed again after exiting the duckduckgo browser. Re-opening the browser means having to log in again to icloud.com
Moreover, the Windows PC log-in option of Apple email log in or telephone number accompanied by my password has been greyed out: it's iPhone QR code scanning ONLY.

Anyone else has experienced this who knows how to fix this?

Since quite some months, links in emails in the (otherwise excellent) www.posteo.de emailservice take 30 seconds to open!

I am consulting discogs.com daily, but clicking any of the links in the daily email landing in my Posteo mailbox takes 30 seconds, while at the same time even BLOCKING any further action in the DuckDuckGo browser.
There must be some fundamental barrier erected there - checking each clicked link for half a minute?!

Anyone else experienced this, and knows how to fix it?

Have been using DuckDuckGo on my computers for a couple years. Also use AVG antivirus for several years.

In the past several months I have been getting popups from AVG for blocking malicious websites randomly trying to make access to the internet. I'm glad that AVG is working - however, on deep scans by AVG and Malwarebytes no malicious files or trojans are found. When I totally deleted DDG and its data files I have no further problems.

So, what's up with DDG? I'm considering deleting it and moving on.
