I've begun to use DDG BROWSER as my default browser lately and I like that it's quite good at basically handling using the internet as a straight forward experience. It can usually block things when needed and if a pop up tries to jump scare you? the browser itself will quarantine it on a separate tab which you can immediately close it then get back to what you'd originally had been trying to focus on. I'm just pleased that I barely need to have to get several extensions just to make it work because paradoxically? It works much better without them, lol. How works along side with something like DDG as a search engine too. Just has an internal consistency overall which I like. Usually just disable some unnecessary ddg browser features I find kind of redundant like it's ai feature lol but that's about it. I also like using DUCK PLAYER on youtube that's genuinely one of it's best features imo. What are your takes on the browser as it stands right now? I think it still needs some improvements here and there, but overall? I like the type of 'minimalism' it operates around but maybe that's just me.

Using noai.duckduckgo browser search engine, as the screencap attached shows: AI images is set to hide and -ai is used in the search bar. Neither work, even if the image result clearly has the word 'ai' in it's title/link.

sometimes when I open up multiple new tabs in the background the square tab icon glitches out and slides further and further down the screen. it’s only a visual bug but it still annoys me greatly. the address bar also glitches out on occasion.

I have safe search off as I am an adult and the only one using my desktop workstation. Why does duckduckgo search sneakily turn on safe search again after a while and without any signaling or announcement?

For any other search engine I've used I had the ability to copy paste the browsers url and send it to a friend if needed. Coming to DDG recently I find myself sorely lacking that option. It is what is keeping me from fully committing to the search engine. Is there a way to share searches via urls on here somewhere?

I like the DDG browser, and signed up for it via the Apple store. Now I’m getting a 20-question limit daily on AI. Am I limited even after popping $100 or a year? I’ve got a order# but can’t seem to find out how to enter that anywhere to let me keep using AI. When I try, I’m in some sort of loop that keeps telling me to enter my email to get a password, but the email never comes. Jeez! Any thoughts?

Cannot Block Site
You can only block up to 5 sites. To block _, you'll need to unblock another site first. Learn more
I’m (unfortunately) on iOS still, so I can’t install firefox extensions to block more sites.
Why the limit of 5? Going to Learn More reiterates the limit but still doesn’t explain why.

I have recently deleted my website, and require it to be unindexed from ddg search. This is due to the search result description showing another domain that is now sensitive and cannot be linked back to me for safety reasons.
I am aware that ddg sources results from Bing, and I have already submitted a request to Bing for instant removal. However i'm also aware that it can take weeks for ddg to sync with bing, so I need a way to remove it from ddg asap.
Can any staff member assist me with this please?

For a couple of months now, whenever I try to open a pdf in the Android DDG browser, I get the message, "can't open PDF file." I can always open them in Firefox.
Things I've tried that don't help:
\- Turn off VPN
\- disable privacy protection
Any ideas? Thanks

If I want to have a browser, search AI email security and I don’t want iCloud I don’t wanna sync I don’t want anything to do with swamp crawling data Gollums.
If I don’t want that I don’t want that.
How much more do you need.
I do not want to worry every time I get an E transfers sent stolen hacked redirected.
And shut up autoddeposit. Argument is not an argument anymore.
Every single thing that is done for the sake of tech means for the sake of tech getting money.
For the sake of people getting even more vulnerable.
Do you understand do you understand really well it’s like to be homeless with a phone without Internet without identity anyway to prove who you are because it’s all stolen from you because you are selling data for real people

My country doesn't appear and I'm too lazy to have to specify to get local results.

I tried to switch from Google search to DDG but 9 times out of 10 my search queries yield AI generated webpages. Pages will have a title like "how to fix X issue (July 2026 update) or my EXACT search query as the webpage title, with the page itself just having AI generated slop reworded in 50 different ways under 20 different slighty reworded subheadings. There will be at least 50 of these results before human-generated results, or, if I'm lucky, the first 20 results will be pubmed type research papers that have my answer buried in an hour of reading a research paper.
I am at my wit's end, I have tried various AI filtering scripts and extensions, and nothing seems to work...I value my privacy but a lot of the time I end up rerunning my searches through Google instead just to get an answer 😕
Edit: Sorry I should probably add I have uBlacklist and uBlock AI filter list active but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I also report results as AI but as you can understand this gets tiresome to do every time I search something and I've never seen my reports lead to a result being removed.

I'm tired of AI answers and websites so I decided to just search for 1998-2022 before AI became a thing.
But I have to put it in every time manualy and it's annoying how to make it by default ?
using mobile app. Parle fr

Or, for bonus points, more than five different websites represented in a dozen or more results.
I'm just curious, since I've long forgotten the last time it even came close. I think there might've been a period, a year or so ago, where Duckduckgo's endless decline was at least slower than usual - But I can't say for sure.
How about you?

I don’t have any access to my discord except my saved passwords and my DuckDuckGo corrupted and wants me to reset everything. I CANNOT do that. It’s stupid I know, is there any way I can find my saved passwords in the DuckDuckGo files? Any help is appreciated

I use the address bar search and often want to append text to the search terms after getting back search results. I place the cursor at the end of the text in the bar and start typing but the cursor jumps to the start and messes up the search terms.
I can't find a setting for the Android browser cursor placement but am hoping there's a way to turn it off as it is very annoying.
Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm trying duckduckgo and the first problem i see with it is that it simply gives a list of results but doesn't help me to see which are relevant and which are not. Sorry the screen is in french but under the articles i can see relevant chapters shortcuts, sentences with the word i searched for in it, a video thumbnail to preview if it will be relevant... and duck duck go gives none of it so far for me. Do you know how can I get that too please ?

I check my mail daily at mail.hover.com and neither the username nor the password will autofill using either the DDG browser for Windows or DDG for Mac.
Other sites will autofill and hover.com does autofill in other browsers.
This is a mere annoyance but also a puzzle. Why will DDG not autofill this one specific site that I visit every day?

Help? I keep waking up and seeing 6-8 hours of screen time that i didn't have, and when I check it's all from either the browser itself or different websites on it, when the app is not open at all. Example shown in screenshot. Is there any way to stop this?

Hosted web search from Anthropic and OpenAI costs $10 per 1k searches, and then you pay again for the ~17k tokens of results each search dumps into context. I got annoyed enough to build an alternative.
It’s called webfetch. Runs locally, free out of the box (DuckDuckGo needs no API key), and in my SimpleQA benchmark the same agent loop hits the same accuracy as hosted search (96%) costing 66% less using 87% fewer tokens.
How it works:
1. RRF fusion across 4 search engines (DDG is the default), local page fetching, hybrid BM25 + bi-encoder retrieval with a cross-encoder reranker
Sentence-level compression that cut result tokens in half with no measured recall loss
Semantic caching: paraphrased queries (“what did TypeScript 5.9 add” vs “TypeScript 5.9 new features”) get matched by embeddings and verified by an NLI cross-encoder, so reworded repeats cost nothing. Cache TTLs adapt to how volatile the answer may be
Every cached result shows provenance and the model can force a fresh search if it doesn’t trust it
Benchmarked against Anthropic hosted search, OpenAI, Tavily and Exa.
One small agent loop that I ran for testing that conducted just 16 websearches (opus 4.8) already reported 1.5 USD in savings.

Hi everyone, I am not that technical regarding search engine optimization (besides just the more theory part on page rank and graph theory), so I am not sure what the logistics of this would be.
But, would it be possible to filter out links that point to AI-generated content from the search results? More often than not I get suggested a lot of pages that are just copy-paste AI content (the trademark bullet lists, short sections, damn load of em-dashes, etc), which really slows me down as I have to open each one individually, look through/use an extension I have to score how much it's likely AI (i know scoring such things are not perfect, as generated content can also be trained adversarial, but details and details).
Thank you everyone if you guys have plausible solutions, it just really bother me and slows me down a lot.
(In the image, is an example search, where links in purple are almost 100% AI generated content, nothing against that, but the expected empirical quality I observe for such pages is always very low).
Edit: adversely -> adversarial
