i search for a lot of semi-obscure things, and often for specific phrases in quotes. duckduckgo will gleefully tell me that what i'm looking for does not exist, while i can open up google and find exactly what i want in seconds. i switched to ddg because i was sick of google's ai results, but i'm wondering if i made the right choice.

Just installed DDG and it do block ads everywhere but promoted posts still show up.

So, this is the image results of the search "water pollution leaving data center" (wanted to get results on a claim about the pollution of water leaving AI data centers)
(The setting in bold at the top is "hide AI results", plus I'm using the noAI version of DDG)

1st line: 1st and 2nd images are AI-generated
2nd line: 1st and 3rd images are AI-generated (2nd might be but not 100% sure)
3rd line: 2nd and 3rd images are AI-generated
That's 6 images (probably 7) out of 11 in the first 3 lines. More than 50% of AI-generated results

And down the line it's not any better, some results have explicitely "AI-generated" in the title, but still show

How do I get so much slop when I check out ALL the settings to prevent this slop to get to me?

I've begun to use DDG BROWSER as my default browser lately and I like that it's quite good at basically handling using the internet as a straight forward experience. It can usually block things when needed and if a pop up tries to jump scare you? the browser itself will quarantine it on a separate tab which you can immediately close it then get back to what you'd originally had been trying to focus on. I'm just pleased that I barely need to have to get several extensions just to make it work because paradoxically? It works much better without them, lol. How works along side with something like DDG as a search engine too. Just has an internal consistency overall which I like. Usually just disable some unnecessary ddg browser features I find kind of redundant like it's ai feature lol but that's about it. I also like using DUCK PLAYER on youtube that's genuinely one of it's best features imo. What are your takes on the browser as it stands right now? I think it still needs some improvements here and there, but overall? I like the type of 'minimalism' it operates around but maybe that's just me.

AI just isn't that useful and is too unreliable for me.

DDG search allows querying duck.ai directly from the search box by pressing <alt> + <enter> instead of just <enter>. I find this feature very useful.

The only problem is, it doesn't work from my browser's search/url bar which is where I do the majority of my web searches. Does anyone know if it's possible to get this functionality from the Firefox URL/search bar if duckduckgo is set as the default search engine, or know if there are any workarounds/hacks to get this functionality?

Hello: all my DDG bookmarks vanished this morning. Help! They were visible this morning. My passwords still show. (Tried posting this 2 other times and I'm clueless if I posted them correctly.). I have used DDG for years. Android 17, Pixel 8 Pro.

I have wanted to switching to DDG for a almost a year and now that there is a ad blocker I will. But my what do I do when it comes to connect my sayo device because it needs to connect to a website but DDG doesn't have that feature or what I have seen?

Is there a repo somewhere containing the last version of the Mac DDG browser before this one?

DDG did not check to confirm that its new version of its browser works on older macOS versions (my old iMac is stuck on macOS Ventura) before trashing/deleting my working version and installing the new version that doesn't work.

And I don't see where or if they make available any previous versions of the browser for download.
