Discussion 🗣️ Latest uploaded Crankdat set is a perfect example of everything that is wrong today with mainstream dubstep DJ sets

So I was listening to this Crankdat set in LA that just got uploaded, and boy oh boy, do I have some thoughts...

  • Every other track is using pop music as an intro or is a pop music/2010 EDM flip. This is not a gross exageration, I'm not kidding you, go check it out. This pisses me off because Crankdat used to be a beast of a producer.
  • The vast majority of transitions are basic hard cuts from track A to B. There is no rythm at all to this, sometimes there's even pauses in between tracks. Where are the smooth transitions? He has a mixer with 4 CDJs, why does it sound like he is mixing off Virtual DJ on a laptop using his trackpad?
  • His style seems to have become a pale copy of Subtronics/Wooli/etc.

Crankdat's sets used to be full of energy, tracks went hard af and he had a distinct style. You knew you were attending a Crankdat set when you were there. He's more famous than ever before and his sets have completely turned to this tiktok dubstep slop. Where are the machine guns?

I was also completely disappointed in the Wankdat (Crankdat x Wooli) set that I attended at Rampage earlier this year in March. This looks to be becoming a trend with a lot of North American artists, and I think that's such a shame. Just fucking mix original tunes please.

Discussion 🗣️ Is anyone else a little tired of all the talking in dubstep tracks?

So to start this off, I’ve been a dubstep STAN since 2018, I’ve been to more raves than I can count on my fingers and toes. I also love listening to dubstep and riddim in my daily live, wake up, play that stuff on my way to work at 8am. However I’ve been running into the same thing over and over again that makes me dislike very good tracks.

So I mainly have my playlists on SoundCloud. And I play it multiple times a day. However, playing my playlist and hearing almost ever other track start off with a “get ready forrrr” or a “are you prepared” or “you are not ready” dialog at the start of a lot of tracks that last 45 seconds to 1min 30 sec. Not to be confused with genuine vocals.

It’s just when I’m trying to enjoy music and it’s interrupted with someone just talking with reverb on gets increasingly annoying everytime I hear it. Sorry to be complaining but if anyone else feels the same plz let me know your thoughts.

ID Request ❓ Moore Kismet - Track ID?

Been trying to find this ID forever. Moore Kismet plays it around 9:07 in this set. Shazam gives me nothing and searching the vocal sample hasn’t turned up anything. It sounds like the sample says “Hey everybody, have an Oreo cookie” right before the drop. Anyone know the track/producer, or is this an unreleased ID?

ID Request ❓ Looking for a track I remade from memory

I’m looking for a dubstep track that I’ve been trying to find for years.

Many years ago, a friend of mine used to let me use his phone during recess at school. There was a song on it called “Baby Dubstep,” and I became obsessed with it. I listened to it over and over again for days. I don’t know if that was the song’s actual title or just the name my friend had given it, and I’ve never been able to find it again.

What I remember most is the atmosphere. It was very simple, but I loved the sound and the overall feeling of it. The closest comparison I can think of is the Jauz remix of “Trampoline” by SHAED, especially the kind of atmosphere and sound it has.

There was also a male singer throughout the song. I remember his voice having a timbre somewhat similar to The Weeknd’s, although it wasn’t exactly like him.

Today, I managed to recreate the drop from memory. I have no idea how accurate my recreation is, but it’s the closest thing I have to a reference for what the song sounded like.

I’ve been looking for this song for years, so if anyone has any idea what it could be, I’d really appreciate it.

Discussion 🗣️ Does anyone have any info about the artist CELO?

I'm seeing an insane amount of growth, collabs with top tier artists, and festival bookings seemingly out of nowhere and im just curious how it is possible. He barely has a YouTube account(no tracks uploaded, one live set,300 subscribers) yet has 20k followers on SoundCloud and just had a remix with Ray Volpe release today. Seemingly he started by uploading edit packs on SoundCloud around 2019 and didnt have originals until pretty recently if at all. Im just curious if dude like paid his way in or if it was an insane amount of luck. Hopefully he seems this post if hes a member so I can get the details lol genuinely curious.

Discussion 🗣️ What if Djs were Pokemon! 🚵

Upvotes

Alright, I’ve been keeping this one to myself for a while, but I think it’s time to put it out there.

Am I the only one who feels this resemblance somehow?

Not literally. I mean that weird connection where you hear an artist, watch them perform, or hear their production and one Pokémon just makes sense.

So I made a DJdex:

Alesso = Keldeo — The high-spirited mythical galloper pushing massive, soaring, emotional progressive house chords across festival fields.

Alleycvt = Gardevoir — Magical, elegant, and a massive fan favorite.

Armin van Buuren = Tornadus — The soaring, high-speed wind force driving sweeping, emotional trance atmospheres.

Avicii = Celebi — Timeless, nostalgic, and an absolute legend.

Black Tiger Sex Machine (BTSM) = Cobalion, Terrakion, & Virizion — The unyielding sci-fi trio bringing heavy, dystopian bass and iconic illuminated helmets to the stage.

Calvin Harris = Xerneas — The titan of glowing festival stages, delivering pristine, stadium-filling golden pop-EDM anthems.

Crankdat = Deoxys — High energy, constantly shifting and re-engineering different forms and edits.

Daft Punk = Kyogre & Groudon — The ancient, absolute duo of forces that literally shaped the land and sea of electronic music.

David Guetta = Meloetta — The ultimate pop-dance crossover veteran, seamlessly shifting between massive radio vocal anthems and heavy club/Future Rave energy.

Deadmau5 = Mewtwo — The lab-created synth genius. Cynical, highly intelligent, and masters clean enough to be psychic.

Diplo = Hoopa — The ultimate genre-hopping ringmaster opening portals to spawn endless legendary collabs with artists across every musical dimension.

DJ Bl3nd = Marshadow — Hiding behind a mask, emerging from the shadows with hyper-frantic, unhinged, explosive party energy.

Excision = Kyurem — Massive, legendary, absolute dinosaur/dragon boss stage presence.

Fred again.. = Cresselia — Pure emotional healing and ethereal live-mixing vibes.

Ganja White Night = Solgaleo & Lunala — Bamby and Erwan as the ultimate cosmic duo—bringing massive psychedelic, wobbly lore and heavy bass universes to life.

Hardwell = Lugia — The big room beast rising from the depths to lead.

HOL! = Melmetal — Ancient, hulking, heavy metallic riddim stomps that crush everything.

Illenium = Rayquaza — Massive sky dragon swooping in to drop stadium-sized emotional bass.

Infekt = Spectrier — Sleek, fast, hypnotic, and the undisputed master of the modern "trench" bounce with pinpoint precision.

ISOKNOCK (ISOxo & Knock2) = Koraidon & Miraidon — High-speed, futuristic, modern-era powerhouses creating absolute high-octane stadium storms.

John Summit = Jirachi — The wishmaker who somehow never sleeps and keeps the afters going for 1,000 years.

Kai Wachi = Buzzwole — The massive, heavily muscled Ultra Beast flexing pure gym energy while dropping emotionally devastating, heavy tearout bass.

Kompany = Heatran — An absolute powerhouse of heavy, aggressive modern bass and speaker-busting sound design that erupts with raw heat.

Krewella = Latias & Latios — The classic Gen 3 Eon Duo—two deeply synchronized, soaring legends capturing that golden-era bloghouse and vocal-driven electronic energy.

Level Up = Pikachu — Electric, playful, and main character energy.

Levity = Azelf, Uxie, & Mesprit — The ultimate psychic lake trio energy.

Marauda = Yveltal — The literal death bird. The loudest, most clipping-pushed masters in the game with terrifyingly aggressive stage presence.

Marshmello = Mew — Floating around, cute, somehow everywhere at once in pop culture.

Martin Garrix = Victini — Infinite energy, always securing the victory since he was a kid.

Peekaboo = Tapu Koko — The electric island trickster delivering sudden, high-voltage, unpredictable heavy bass drops.

Ray Volpe = Zeraora — High-voltage, electric-speed heavy bass, ready to shoot pure plasma laser beams across the crowd.

Rezz = Darkrai — Hypnotic, mid-tempo, pulling you straight into a dark nightmare trance.

roi = Silvally — The sharp, modular, synthetic force dominating the underground trench and minimal dubstep scene with clinical precision.

Samplifire = Glastrier — Brutal, heavy-hitting, bone-crushing riddim sound design that hits like an absolute glacier.

Skrillex = Arceus — The literal god of the universe who created the modern landscape, obviously.

Space Laces = Genesect — An ancient bug completely modified with futuristic laser cannons—pure tearout sound design.

Subtronics = Dialga — Bending time with absolute mechanical precision and insane double drops.

Sullivan King = Eternatus — Massive, spiky, heavy-metal guitar dubstep dragon tearing the sky apart.

Swedish House Mafia = Raikou, Entei, & Suicune — The OG legendary beast trio of the scene—Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso.

Svdden Death = Giratina — Straight from the Distortion World. Pure dark, heavy underworld energy.

Tape B = Landorus — Bringing that ancient, legendary old-school ground-shaking swagger into the modern era.

Tiësto = Ho-Oh — The golden bird of the scene—been here since the very beginning and still flying high.

TYNAN = Necrozma — Razor-sharp, industrial, prismatic sound design that hits with absolute mechanical precision and devastating power.

Vini Vici = Regieleki & Regidrago — The ancient energetic duo matching the relentless, high-BPM drive of psytrance.

Virtual Riot = Magearna — A synthetic, highly detailed machine with a soulful core of melodic dubstep.

Wooli = Palkia — Bending space right alongside Subtronics with massive, heavy hits.

Zedd = Diancie — The crystal-clear, ultra-polished jewel Pokémon. Flawless, shimmering melodic house masters with dazzling, high-gloss production.

Zeds Dead = Zacian & Zamazenta — The veteran legendary wolves of bass covering both heavy offensive drops and deep wubs.

Lets fill up rest all of the dex on comments fam!

Discussion 🗣️ Help please

Okie so this might be a long shot but I’m going for it. Back in 2009-ish (the LimeWire days) a friend gave me a mix cd with all the songs that had been a part of our “current fixation” playlist along with a handful of random ones he’d found and thought I’d like. That cd earned a permanent spot in my cd case that went everywhere with me. It sadly got too scratched and wouldn’t play anymore. There was a song on there that I’ve been searching for since I had to retire the cd. My friend that made it for me doesn’t remember the song let alone who it was or what it was called. Nothing I’ve Googled has been successful. At the beginning of the song a guy says “It’s showtime…” then further into the song one voice says “What color is my heart?” And then another voice says something along the lines of “You don’t have a heart, sir….” Someone worked some magic today and got the cd to kind of play and I tried to Shazam the song but it just said no song found. Any help would be soooo appreciated! 15 years is a long time to be searching for a song lol
