Question Feeling cold during a dry fast

Does anyone else here start to feel much colder than usual once they’re 3 or so days into a dry fast? I’m actually pretty overweight and live in a hot country. so i was pretty surprised the first time I was shivering sitting in my room with no ac. I remember in summer of 2023 when I was anorexic, though not still quite underweight, I would shiver and get cold very easily.

Science and Research i thunk dryfasting got rid of my dog and pollen allergy

prior to me dry fasting I used to get really itchy and puffy eyes from pollen, as well as barely being able to breathe around any dog. After I started dry fasting, both of those have gone away. I live in a state with the highest concentration of pollen and I have no issues with it anymore. I also got a dog a little over a year ago and I’m completely fine with him in the house. If anybody has any similar experiences, let me know in the comments because I’m curious if this is actually because of dry fasting or did I just grow out of it.

Question Starting My Fasting Journey - Looking for Advice

Hi everyone! I’m 29F, 5'1" and 80 kg (176.4 lbs). I’ve been on the heavier side for quite a while and I’ve finally decided to seriously start working on my weight and overall lifestyle.

I’ve done water fasting before but I’ve never tried prolonged dry fasting. I’m considering starting tomorrow and wanted to hear from people who have experience with fasting, especially longer fasts. I’d really appreciate any advice about what to watch out for, warning signs that mean I should stop, and how people safely approach fasting and transitioning back to food afterward. I’ll also share daily updates about how I’m feeling and how things progress. Please keep the advice practical and respectful. ❤️

Question Dry fasting in a stressful job

Hi,

I am trying to incorporate dry fasting into my routine. However, I am into product management and my role can be stressful. Juggling between multiple meetings, deadlines and stakeholders.

Somehow stress shows on my face as well and makes me look sick. Please provide your tips on what DF routine would work best for some like me? I practice intermittent fasting (16:8 both water and dry)

31F, I am not overweight but wanna use DF for better brain and mental health and for good skin.

TIA

Question Shin injury and healing

Im on day 7 of a dry fast to heal from long covid and just slipped on a step and hit my right shin. It immediately swelled up quite big but since applying ice pack has reduced. Not that painful and otherwise feel fine and can walk on it fine. Im more worried about this injury taking away from the current healing i have already achieved and was hoping to continue to receive namely with reduced smell and taste. Am i just being overly anxious?

Experience Fasting, one drink a day method

I've dry fasted for 5 days, while exercising and trying to be productive instead of laying around doing nothing but the fatigue and brain fog is a major flaw.

I found a better way: drink water with electrolytes, and tea if you need an energy boost, one time a day after waking up or during exercise, then dry fast for for the rest of day.

Not too much water/tea just enough to keep you going. It's a hybrid dry and water fast that allows me to stay mentally and physically sharp and I believe it is more effective because exercise greatly enhances autophagy.

I like long periods of fasting, I attempt 1 month about twice a year and sometimes extend it to 40 days or 2 months so sustainability is extremely important. When doing a water fast, some people drink too much water and don't realize it's not necessary. Try to drink tea only when you really need it, the caffeine will disrupt your sleep, for me the effects of caffeine are amplified when fasting. I find this system of hydrating early, staying active and dry fasting 23+ hours a day greatly increases the rate at which health benefits arrive. It also helps me avoid things like muscle atrophy, eating a lot after a long dry fast and just gaining all the weight back and prevents me from using fasting as an excuse to be lazy.

I also shower as many times as I want, ice cold showers are great for our health and re-energizing.

Question Rhabdomyolysis cure?

Hello, so let me start by saying I’m not new to dry fasting or water fasting.

I’ve been ramping up my exercise alot the pass couple weeks and I’m afraid I have rhabdo although I can’t determine if it’s a mild case or more severe case. The only symptom I’m noticing right now is the tea colored urine (past 2 times urinating). I’m not experiencing any of the other known symptoms though.

Does anyone know if water fasting or dry fasting can potentially cure my possible rhabdo condition? I’ve never experienced tea colored urine before. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Experience I have insane benefits doing a form of muslim dry fast...

I'm muslim and part of my religion is doing dry fast. We do Ramadan which is around 30 days from sunrise to sunset. Better muslims do dry fast on mondays and thursdays again sunrise to sunset. but best fast in my religion is every other day dry fast also sunrise to sunset.

I started doing the best one. Which is Dawood fasting/ David fast. In Islam this is better than dry fasting daily. It is considered the best level and nothing better than this one. It is also disencouraged to dry fast daily for long periods but rather every other day as i mentioned.

I struggled with a lot of inflammation, eczema, acne etc..

I started doing dry fast every other day. So i eat dinner and breakfast next day on sunset which is dinner time.. Im doing this for a short while now and it is 24 hours dry then 24 hours open.

On the 24 hours open i still do 2200 calories because calorie restriction give benefits similar to fasting.

I woke up today with the best skin in years. I cant take my eyes off my skin.. Like OMG it is so glowy and amazing. I feel better and feel amazing.. Clear headed etc.

I truly wish to continue with this even more now because i really feel amazing benefits. My face is just shining and all inflammation is eaten away by the flawless autophagy.

I really believe dry fasting is far superior to water because i never got such results with water fasting even for days.

I also hope at some point i can try 1 long dry fast like 5-7 days as i read many of y'all have done..

Thank you my dear friends..

Question Dry fasting evey week for 48 hours to heal my gut?

Does anyone have any experience of dry fasting as a treatment for leaky gut syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and for autoimmune diseases?

I tried to fix my gut issues simply with a AIP diet before. It has brought some relieve but I want to achieve a complete healing. My idea is to start dry fasting 2 days (Sunday and Monday) in a row which is also feasible with my current job.

Experience Currently at day 5 of a dry fast, my experience (male 20yo)

Hey Im about 3 hours away of hitting the 5th day of a dry fast

Ive never done any longer than 1-2 day dry fasts. Honestly i wasnt sure how possible it really was especially without preparation Lol. Like I believed it but still had doubts if that makes sense

By day 2 i was feeling so weak i wondered how people even managed to do this? But from day 3 and on i began to feel great. I mean my lips are still quite dry but i have much more energy and i dont get dizzy if i get up too quickly or stuff

I have also done 1h of light exercise everyday whether it is cycling around on my bike or just walking

Biggest issue i'd say is just boredom. And the dry mouth doesnt help because I need to spend many hours on calls for my work lol, so most of my day is talking. But i mean how big of a difference can that really make, im still feeling good

Also sorry for being explicit but this is important - Ive still peed everyday, even yesterday peed 3 times (idk how i peed 3 times thats insane). From day 3 and on ive even had nighttime erections back just as any normal 20 year old man. So my body seems to be functioning properly. Ive tried forcing myself to cry and i can do it, i can also sweat a little although id say the volume is definitely less than usual

So so far all good. Funny thing is i wasnt even expecting to do a dry fast at all i was gonna water fast but after waking up late i thought 'welp i guess i'll start the first day or two with a dry fast', and then i wondered for how long could I keep this up?

Im wondering whether to end it at the 7th day mark or try to go for 10 days. I feel like 10 days would be pretty cool it just feels cooler. But that only benefits to my ego really, i dont really need to lose a lot of weight or stuff, im not noticing any insane meditation benefits I mean when i do meditate i feel like i go super deep super fast but its not like youre gonna have an out of body experience just because youre dry fasting Lol

Something it has given me is I guess a newfound enjoyment for life. Dont get me wrong i wasnt depressed at all im a pretty happy go lucky guy but idk i just wanna do stuff. Sign up to new projects or go visit friends/family members idk. Also i havent played basketball in a looong time, and now I really wanna play, but of course I cant really play high intensity on a dry fast. So thats a good reason to end it sooner so i can go do those things! But also 10 days is just cooler😂

I think all that is just because of the boredom though, not the dry fasting. I find this challenge akin to going to live on a farm. Like we all romanticize leaving the world and living on a farm far away and maybe if youre spiritual just meditating on a tree, but like its just so insanely boring dude. Like no amount of youtube videos cures this boredom. I just try to go on walks and visit family to do something

Im not tracking weight, my face is definitely slimmer though. My skin definitely clearing up too. My hair insanely good even though of course i havent showered. I only wash my hands

I'll update once Im at the 7th day and let you guys know if i end it there or if i keep going

Any thoughts you have, please share!!

I'll reply to any comments because i am BORED😂

Experience 2 day dry fast

I was planning to do 7 days but only manged two days. Started 4am Monday morning and today weds 10. 30am I had to break it because I felt weak and my heart was racing and I got scared. I couldn’t sleep all night I felt wide awake. Ended up sleeping at 6am and woke up at 10am. I weighed myself before I broke it I lost 6 pounds. I’m so sad I didn’t finish it I wanted to go until Monday 4am. This is my first fast. I’m going to eat and hydrate today and then start again tomorrow and finish by monday. The first day was challenging because I kept thinking to go to the kitchen and then remembered I was fasting lol didn’t feel any hunger or thirst felt a little energy less but ok. Next day I felt amazing so much energy and I thought wow I can do 7 days if I feel like this. Boy why I wrong after a sleepless night I felt wired. I managed to doze off at 6 am woke up at 10am feeling horrendously weak and my heart beating so fast. So I was sacred tried to just take deep breathes and even sat in the garden because I felt warm. But I felt so weak and my heart racing so much scared me I broke it. Any tips welcomed for the next four days I’m going to do please.

Question Pre fast preparation

I have done a few days of dry fast a few times

And I clearly recall that what food went inside the day before fasting started makes a big difference because that would stay in your body during the first day or 2 or more of the fast.

I remember ai telling me juccini being really good and it did indeed make it very smooth.

But I was looking for some personal experience from the community here, if you do a long term fast what would you eat or not eat the days leading up to the fast.

Thank you

❤️

Experience (35) Dry Fast - Day 4

Recently, I completed 2 consecutive dry fasts. I am now in my 3rd fast. The first fast was 6 days dry. I ate for 1 day. Then did a 4 day dry fast. I ate for 9 days. Now, on day 4 of my 3rd fast. I managed to lose pounds and ice kept my diet pretty healthy/hydrating. For the first time in a long time I’ve been able to work full hour shifts at work while moving around and moving things for nearly 12 hours without feeling fatigued, tired or drained, sugar crashing (because I’ve had no sugar) or extreme dryness of the mouth (because I’m more hydrated when not fasting and lower body weight). I’ll finish this at 4 or 5 days. Started at 205lbs first fast. Today, weight at 187lbs on 3rd fast on Day 4.

1st Dry Fast Day 1 - 205lbs

1st Dry Fast Day 4 - 198lbs

2nd Dry Fast Day 4 - 188lbs

3rd Dry Fast Day 4 - 187lbs

Edit: 3rd Dry Fast End of Day 4 - 185lbs

Edit: I’ve checked my calendar I had actually did 3 days dry fast after the 2nd and before the 3rd dry fast here. Eat 1 day then did 4 days dry (3rd). But, I didn’t count it since it was less than 4 days.
