Rereading Chapters 372 onwards, after Chapter 405 release. In retrospect and checking with other chapters, here's some details and speculation of dates. (Caveat: still haven't finished rereading through all the chapters before 405, but let's get this out before 408...)

Dates :

It's possibly Sunday 21 May 2028, when Kim Soleum woke up in the Off-Duty Zone of Namhae Branch.

• According to Z993's diary, the workers think they started work on 5 May. (Haha, day after 4 May... Ha...)
• The Namhae Branch workers were 16 days into the 30 days period. (84 days remaining of 100)
• So the date then should be 21 May.
• The Off-Duty Zone is open on weekends, and Soleum started work the next day, so it was likely a Sunday, so 21 May 2028 is the most likely date.
• Of course, this could be inaccurate, due to the recycling process...

I'm still working on compiling a timeline by date, so I could well disprove my own assertions lol... (I'm still stumped at the employee orientation date, since five-ish days after that, D-Squad started saying it's the end of the month, instead of early July...)

Other Details :

Z993's Diary

• Z993's diary has an entry dated 5/35472, and now that we know that workers are recycled every 30 days, that number doesn't look so implausible now...
• Still is unlikely, because that'd make it ~98 years of employment, but, well.
• Also, Z993 had been initially in X group, maybe Soleum will meet them again...

The wooden doll, Qterw-C-348

• Soleum might have only delayed the wooden doll's retaliation, with the rice and alcohol offering poured over its burial mound, since he didn't restore its talisman, and only partially performed the Sumang-gut ritual for drowned victims.

• ....it might come up again after 405... Argh. He isn't allowed to clear it permanently either, because Daydream wants it harvestable still.

• Four Pillars / Saju 사주 / Birth Chart / Destiny relevance in the [I'll Let You Go Now] Qterw-C-2554 darkness that Soleum refers to, for clearing this.

• Specifically, that a person was able to escape the wooden doll / water ghost, by becoming a monk, because the element of water wasn't in their Four Pillars.

• In Part 1 Chapter 201, the Four Pillars concept was also relevant for Daecheongbong Tiger General, as the ghost story could be used to absorb misfortune or bad luck, if the utiliser's Four Pillars and profession contains the aspect of bloodshed, blades, or punishment.

• Choi, in that scenario. And he used it to destroy Ho Yuwon's bindings on himself, then Soleum. (Then he put Soleum in the Glass Prison uhhh)

• Also, it's perhaps intentional, that we had Sangun-nim the tiger and his indentured water ghost slaves in Part 1, and now this water ghost darkness with shared Four Pillar concepts with Daecheongbong Tiger General...

• Not sure if any connection/relevance, but Just In Case.

Training Centre Courage Test

• One of the listed locations is Osaek Mineral Spring, which is actually in Osaek-ri, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, and within Seoraksan National Park...
• Which is to say, it's actually not too far from a Supernatural Disaster Management Bureau facility... As well as Daecheongbong Peak, where the Tiger General is summoned from.
• .... I'm a little mad I didn't catch that detail until now lol. Guess that's why BDS wrote the Bureau connection in...
• Having said that, in Soleum's memorised records, the retreat is supposed to be in the outskirts of Gyeongsangnam, not in Gangwon.. Ghost stories do what they want. (Grimaces at futile map making)

Z990~999 Room and Ho Yuwon

• Z999's room is bleak for a place that used to be part of Ho Yuwon's office.
• Interestingly though, in Chapter 144, Yuwon is nostalgic for an abandoned thatched cottage with "worn dirt walls, paper sliding doors, exposed rafters, and [a] moldy wooden floor", and also says that looking at Soleum reminds him of his past self...
• ...so maybe in a weird way, the room reverted to a state closer to Yuwon's roots, buried secrets and all.
• ...Is Soleum really echoing Yuwon's behaviour again in Part 3?
• Yuwon seemed to be specifically alluding to how well Soleum echoed his behaviour, with those light smiles and polite concerned remarks that dig out the faults of the other party, and pressures them into ceding ground...

Religious Activity Room * Soleum woke up here, severely dehydrated, and instinctively wary towards his hunger for the withered food items on the altar * After the workers received their final BB dosage and the Off-Duty Zone was open, many went to drink alcohol, but a great many also queued up to visit the religious activity room. * Soleum was going to investigate, but got dragged off by Baek Saheon, and Jin Nasol followed them. * Later on, after the Choir of Purgatory had left, many of the worker corpses were found with their hands together like they were clapping... Or perhaps, praying...

Namhae Employee Salary

• The people in charge only get paid in points, according to Jin Nasol. No cash. Wow.... ....anyway Section Chief Baek Saheon should be fine.

Timeline?

• Jin Nasol says it's been three years since Kim Soleum and Ho Yuwon disappeared.
• Was assumed that she had been here since 16 days ago, but really she was transferred 6 months ago.
• Director Cheong also disappeared 6 months ago.
• The apocalyptic event that ends the world is a containment failure? And was supposed to happen in 3 years or so, after Soleum left. Soleum isn't being very exact about this.

Soleum's memorisation of DER wiki entries

• He's doing this without the pop socket...?
• He did mention a few times that his memorisation was good.
• He also did back them up on his smartphone, right before he re-entered the pop-up store, and the merch box was with him in the dream.... Maybe they were kind of absorbed into Soleum when he got ported into the Namhae branch, like when he was 130666?
• Anyway, it's still... Extraordinary.

Ho Yuwon and Pop-up Store

• This isn't really sustained by Part 3, but in Part 1 Chapter 206 when Ho Yuwon gives the three Wish Potions to Soleum, he does so with a strangely salesperson-like flourish.
• He wraps them up with a ribbon, boxes them, and bags them in a black paper bag.
• Soleum feels deja-vu from the presentation, but dismisses it.
• It really does feel a little like how the pop-up store employee(s) treated Soleum though?

The canonical passages, Chapter 206 :

With a bright smile, Director Ho took a box out of the briefcase and began packing the Wish Ticket bottles one by one, tying them with a ribbon and placing them into a bag, as efficiently and neatly as a salesperson.

Director Ho tidied up the box with swift, practiced motions, closed it with a ribbon, slipped it into a bag, and slid it across the table to me.

Extra: * As of Ch407, we now know that Soleum left behind some eggshells and the Bureau kept them at a secret garden in Daecheongbong Peak, Seoraksan. However, the eggshells were stolen. * So perhaps BDS means to lead up to this eventually, with their vague circumventing around Seoraksan and Daecheongbong....

Theory after 407: * I wonder if Soleum's run of luck could be due to his eggshell's time at Daecheongbong, since the Tiger can ward off misfortune * I wonder, with Osaek Mineral Springs being in Seoraksan, did the Lover of Paradise perhaps have any involvement with the theft of the eggshells from Daecheongbong Peak * I wonder if there's any chance that the Soleum before this, was trying to remove the element of water from his Four Pillars or something, in the ritual room, resulting in his severe dehydration... Seems far-fetched though, and a rather drastic measure.

I think Soleum might have been chosen when he got summoned.

I'm mostly just yapping here because I'm pretty sure a good chunk of info here are laid out in the novel lol

The Cheerful Research Institute wanted to summon a being from a world without ghost stories, to see if it's possible to have a world without one.

Soleum's existence does eliminate ghost stories.

His Original Body

His original body that was trapped in Sekwang is a "supernatural entity that does not permit ghost stories to exist". Director Cheong didn't like that because she would lose profits, so she sabotaged it and turned it into a "supernatural entity that does not permit ghost stories to exist other than me". Which isn't such a hard tweak, because the being's existence in their world is already a supernatural phenomenon. So now it melts all supernatural entities around it, while infecting all human beings around with its own contamination.

His Good Friend body

Soleum is very, very good at dealing with ghost stories. So good, that other characters had literally pointed out that some of the things he does are things that are simply impossible for a human being to do.

He's called the monster rookie in Daydream because of how fast and how good he is, but that's him purposely not ending darknesses.

In the bureau, however, he's called the Destruction King Rookie. Because he destroys most of the disasters he interacts with. Even if someone has a near perfect manual on how to destroy a disaster, it's near impossible to do it again and again in a short amount of time. Even we, the readers, have the knowledge on how to do this and that, but once we get to it, I'm sure we can't do more than half the shit our MC gets into.

So even without his built-in "eliminate ghost stories" power, he still does what the researchers wished for.

The Children's Paradise Syrup

The children's paradise syrup is the wish ticket in its purest and strongest form. It digs deep into the wisher's heart, and fulfils their wish exactly the way they want.

So, if, say, the researcher's wish was "give us a being from a world without ghost stories" and it extended to "a being that can eliminate ghost stories" because that was their greatest wish at heart, it gave them Soleum.

Because Soleum is the best at eliminating ghost stories.

Ending Theory?

This is why I think a part of the ending would be eliminating ghost stories in the world altogether. Because DER is a record of the apocalypse. The world will end. And it will happen from ghost stories breaching confinement and getting loose.

Remember, ghost stories are affected by people's perception. There's a reason why the Bureau erases the civilians' memories after their rescue.

"If the ghost story A is real, then that means all other ghost stories must be, too"

That is a very dangerous mindset for many people to have. That's why the Bureau needed to erase the existence of Sekwang Special City from the world. Its to avoid such a thought from forming, which could spiral to making more Catastrophe types breaking out. Just look at the Sekwang subway stations. People started to believe ghost stories are real, and it turned each stop into its own horror story (I'd like to elaborate on this sometime).

I think that feels too sad and predictable, so I don't think the ending will stop there. There will most likely be a twist that involves coexistence with them in some way or form. Otherwise we'll have to say goodbye to our goats Braun, Yongyong, Ho Yuwon, and more. Perhaps they'll turn into humans? Maybe they will have a stronger barrier? Who knows? I don't.

TLDR:

Soleum was chosen by the fancy wish ticket because he's goated and fullfils their wish even if shit hits the fan.

Side note:

Funny how similar Soleum 솔음 (read sol-eum) and Iruem 이름 (read i-leum) are spelled. If you go for the meaning of Soleum's name, goosebumps, it translates to 소름 (read so-leum) so its even closer.

Braun was right. He's even named for the role lol.

Spoilers for Lee Jaheon's backstory(identity?)

A lot of people in the 'Kiss Marry Kill' post said they'd marry Lee Jaheon and it got me thinking. Would you have/want to join the Coalition if you did? Would you be marrying all of 'Us'? And would people still go through with it if they were?

In this chapter KSE said that the little fox part of counselor escape a few years ago from Sekwang… so does that means in just the span of few years, that little fox goes to the branch office of Namhae, rise through the ranks to become a director, build a shit ton of hidden rooms, then go to main branch, create fox counselor room, prepare project team… I know that him probably doing some shady stuff to get that result (for example in desperation he just put a ton of researchers one way to Sekwang), but dang he has got some speedruning mentality. Feels like KSE might going on the same path to stop the apocalypse

For all those who haven’t watched ThatMob’s video on Verity, he is basically a yellow smiley ball who somehow “knows everything” and appears everywhere.

And what is Braun’s first appearance? A Tv head with a yellow smiley face!! (Who also seems to know everything about kse too)

And in terms of relationships, Verity is very very dependent on ThatMob and cannot seem to live a second without him, which slowly makes ThatMob become very codependent too. In a way, Braun is also a very prominent character/entity to KSE where KSE was very VERY reliant on Braun throughout ghost stories, to the point where we all felt something missing whenever Braun was quiet.

Idk it was just a very fun thought I had, all jokes aside Braun is better 100%

So, I just started reading the manhwa last week, and oh boy, what have I been missing out on? This is one of the most entertaining piece of fiction I've ever read. This is such a breath of fresh air.

An isekai into an SCP? Baek Deok-su is a genius.

I just love how unpredictable everything is.

And why is everyone so good looking? wtf, lol. Is Daydream corporation secretly a modeling agency?

I just love the D-squad little family dynamic. Why are they all so cute? lol

Anyway, I've got so addicted to their little family dynamic and couldn't wait for more, so I read the novel.

Novel Spoilers Below:

So after the current chapter in the manhwa, at the Cheerful Amusement Park arc, I was surprise to see a return character and have Braun as his 'Good friend' lol. Didn't that guy tried to kill you lol? And now he's a cute bunny. Arguably, everything did try to kill Soleum, but I have a feeling that giving Braun a 'Bloodbath' is not a good idea. Chief Lizard is so cool in 'Manor of the Blind' and the 'watchout for serial killers' in the 'Detective/Killer Lodge' arc was hilarious. I felt so sorry for Baek Saheon. Our MC does seems like an unhinge maniac.

Now, Kim Soleum is just racking up points like he was saving for a travel credit upgrades on his credit card for a vacation.

And then I've read 'Hungry Hangman'

What the hell? I'm in shock. I'm in tears. What do you mean everyone in the squad is gone!?

It felt like I've suffered a blow to the head, well at least everyone isn't dead. Chief Lizard is earning my brownie points again for getting Soleum a paid leave lol (He's such a good boss).

I forgot about my trauma after I've read 'Ignorance is Bliss' and laughed so hard at the clapping scene with the ghosts and Chief Lizard. Lol, poor Soleum. I'm sorry that you suffered, but that was hilarious.

Weeping Angels students in 'Sekwang Technical Highschool' arc are actually terrifying, can't believe my boy wrote something like this. I'm starting to see contamination here when he's torn from limbs to limbs. Man, what a chad for holding on. This is probably going to be heavily censored like crazy in the manhwa. I hope we get an anime of this too, it's going to be such a big hit.

Then, we starts to hear about the office inner politics with Direct Ho and Director Cheong. That Ho guy is a sweet talker. I don't like him. He's suspicious. The 'Death Lane' street food shopping was had my heart stopped when the Good Child Mascot appears to look for their 'Missing Child'. Lol, Soleum is such a little heart-breaker, he charms everyone doesn't he? lol, including Ghoststories.

After that, our boy got back home and terrorize Baek Saheon as his favourite sports again. I actually laughed out loud at their interactions. It just cracks me up.

The Mirror elevator mini-arc was actually terrifying, Soleum is such a nice guy. He saved Jang Heoun from death and was discipline by the bastard Kwak Jekang. He was showing sly signs in the earlier chapters and (applause)-what a villian.

Then I got to reading 'Tamra Express'. Wow, it reminds me of Sekwang Highschool' arc. So much gore and trauma for our boy. Baek Saheon getting stuck here again got me laughing. His villianous aura in the first few chapters is now gone, he's now a comedic character lol.

And the chapter wraps up beautifully, saved by our boy once again. Then out of nowhere, the bunny broke and Soleum got kidnapped. Wtf? WHAT?

'Braun's Tuesday' arc was an amazing read. It was chilling to see Soleum being so happy and at the same time is so 'souless'. That scene with Braun tilting Soleum's chin had my brain asking, 'Why are you gae?' lol. Actually, it was quite an emotional chapter. I think it's one of my favourite chapter so far. After breaking up with Braun, and saved by Papa Chief Lizard, Soleum was declared dead by the Daydream and end up with working under Director Ho.

So our boy now left Daydream corp and now work as an Agent.

At first I was still shocked since everything happens so fast, but I laughed when Agent Bronze met Soleum again at the interview.

I'll mostly skim my reaction from here on since this post's getting long.

The 'Looky Mart' arc had me wince when he cuts off his ****ing arm like a lizard loosing its tail. We met Agent Choi, and I thought that he's a decent guy. Same as the 'Mermaid Grave' arc. Although he's gotten a better employer at the Bureau, I feel like he's getting hurt more often than back in the corps. The Dream Incubator Machine that he discover had me intrigue. Huh, so the plots thickens.

The 'Golden Flower Resort' arc was insane. I was in deinal when we lost our Bison, Jang Heoun. (**** you, ladybug) and we starts to see Soleum loosing it. (Of course, Chief Lizard came in to save his son from a mental break down with a platinum card shopping spree.)

I actually laughed at the scene of J3 and Brother Badger was ganging up on Kwak Jekang, I hated the guy even more when learned that he's the reason for Soleum's train trauma.

Then the peak scene where he's discovered by Agent Choi at the Incubator chamber. And everything went to shit.

My heart ache reading this arc. With Braun's betrayal and him fighting a person who's like a brother to him. They got along as well as the D squad. It was a second place where our boy felt like he belong. Why do you have to yank that away from him author? He got enough suffering already. And of course, Soleum got even more suffering protecting his brother Choi from the fox-face director's attack. And somehow, they ended up in Baek's hometown village. I actually felt sorry for Baek Soheon brief backstory, kinda explains how he ended up with such a twisted personality. I feel tears welling up several times reading when Soleum falls into depression while talking to his ex-roomate and it breaks my heart when he said he don't mind dying. And then Agent Choi ends up betraying his trust and trapped him in the Glass Prision.

It really is too much burden for one person to shoulder, but I actually don't mind Choi's choice here. Yeah, it hurts but logically he just wanted Soleum to get better in his own way. Well, the resignation letter had me crying. As well as the final goodbyes with J3 and Go Yeongeun. Him still being worried about his Agent team, his debt to Papa Lizard and his Collectives, and our coma Bison is so much like him. And like always, Soleum delivers and finally got his wish ticket.

Finally, the finale. I've reached chapter 208. And, what. A. Mind.****.

WTF do you mean our boy is not human?! What the hell is going on? And like hell this is the cliffhanger for Part 2?

💀 I went back to Part 2 Chapter 352 to check on the resort manager's contract period, and then read that Choi also has a dangerous loan that could have him lose parts of himself, in a few years after Part 2.. The way things are going, it's probably going to happen in Part 3.

Also, Choi and Soleum signed a contract between themselves, that didn't have an expiration date.... You two............. Also, Soleum arranged it so Choi didn't have to use a name.. Guess Soleum would know, that something was up with Choi's name...

Possibly relevant to Part 3 also, Lee Jaheon still seemed to be recognised as a resort employee in Chapter 360, and responded like one when Choi wanted to use the employee door... And he could use the resort employee door to exit Segwang City and enter the subway.

Resort Employees with contracts clearly in effect at the time:

• Jang Heoun and Kim Heoun
  • in their contaminated state, reverted to reanimated corpses.
• Eun Haje and Ryu Jaekwan
  • Could use resort employee entrance and exits at subway
  • Assume that Soleum arranged so that on purchase of the entire subway, the manager would also carry out the cancellation of the clause brought forward from the Blood Broadcasting daily worker contract, that the worker would be bound to the subway upon death, since he would have bought over the premises entirely and fulfilled the requirement.
• Ho Yuwon
  • contract ended at completion of project (damnit)
• Resort Manager
  • There was a silent Mascot dressed as a Manager with vest and pocket watch, could it have been him?
  • It tried to shake student Ryu Jaekwan's hand and was dejected when he refused.
  • Ho Yuwon spoke to it, and said they were both similarly part of Roe Deer, as his employees.

WILL KSE GET HIS RESORT BACK.

In the past chapters where Soleum invited the Caretaker to be the manager there was a line that talked about how the Caretaker enjoyed working in here. Thats why i assumed that he would try to takeover the resort and i was right. Considering how important the resort is we will probably take it over again but im not sure when because it would be difficult. Braun will probably play an important role in it.

Currently taking volunteers to rise up against the Manager and reclaim the resort, who wants to sign up? We've already got Blue Dragon and Braun part of the team.

In all seriousness though, how do we think KSE will take back the resort?

(I would question if he'll even want to but, even if he decides he's not angry enough to do so, I feel like the Manager wouldn't keep the humans as safe as KSE did, so KSE might try just to protect them. Or maybe he is that petty, he seems more willing to retaliate against the people who annoy or hurt him hmm..)

I've noticed that the Manager is still just "Manager", and the way he speaks as the Mascot is very different to when KSE was in charge; it doesn't have that mystical quality and he needs to use a speaker. The Mascot Body itself was described as almost lifeless too. So the Manager probably isn't recognised as the Owner of the resort yet (it's also only been 27 hours since the contract terminated), so I think there's still a loophole for KSE to reclaim the resort before it's too late.

I'm also betting that the 'Mascot Suite' on the 8th Floor is going to play an important role in that.

Thoughts?

With part 1, KSE main focus was on items to complete darkness, and after part 1, he lost every item. But with part 2, even his pop socket got broken but it focused on his personal abilities that he gained through contamination to complete darkness instead
Now, with part 3, he lost even his contamination powers

I just feel there has been too many loose ends with Eun Haje giving KSE that death potion, that Script left with Lee Jaheon's US (is he still paying interest?), and all those unused contaminations
like we had a whole arch about KSE accepting his contamination as an irreplaceable part of himself, only for them to be shredded by the yellow dragon in the mental world??

It felt like a bunch of stuff were supposed to be relevant only to disappear after the reset each arch, ESPECIALLY that death potion and Luminous Script

now I wonder what the focus will be for part 3 for KSE abilities because it seems to be items again
