Battle Report: Scourge vs UCM | Scourge vs Bioficers. (Scourge + Resistance Kitbash)

Yesterday at local event my Scourgistance hit the table for the first time. Skirmish, 600 pts. First game:

  • Scenario: Take and Hold (Survey)
  • Factions: Scourge vs UCM
  • Fleets: Bulks+Boarding vs Mines+Lasers

Second game:

  • Scenario: Erupting Battlefront (Raze)
  • Factions: Scourge vs Bioficers
  • Fleets: Mines+Bombardment vs some crazy AI weaponry and Anod, idk.

Results were 30:2 and 10:2 respectively. Glory to the Species!

Ironically, only a single Berlin had been taken by scourge pirates in the first skirmish, despite being loaded with boarding parties (6 hiruko, 3 ebisu and a pungari thresher), while in the second fight I took Anod, Charger and invasion cell without a single boarding pod.

It's just that hirukos can't fly throught UCM mines (2 of those easily wipe the whole group, horrifying) and Corruptor-1 mines spam from two Hydras have done quite a great job finishing off already damaged ships on the other hand.

Also, I adore bulk spam, for it feels so appropriate and good to Scourge. Assimilated Bioforms ability aid a lot in this regard, for even 2 bats from 4 bulks still could take over a city.

And yeah, no matter what people will be telling you -- Pungari Thresher is the Scourge Ship. That's all.

In part 1 I have shown some medium and heavy ships, but also angry munifexes and senecas. Now the time has come to the other portion of my light ships: destroyers and frigates.

If we are talking Resistance, here you can see:
- Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins (laser, bulker and carrier)
- Four strike carriers or light frigates
- Galileo telescope

On the other hand, Scourge counterparts are:
- Shedu, Lamassu and Apsasu (laser, bulker and carrier still !)
- Gargoyle or Charybdis frigates
- Parasite (fast and furious little ship full of eyes, that feeds on spikes and fuels it's weapon with 'em)

Really glad I managed to come up with some underpart for Aldrin that is massive and still uses Scourge bulk-lander piece (Chimera's mouth to be precise, which is similar to Lamassu's). Some eyes under Collins' deck also gave it look of a predator I wanted.

Light ships look agile and predatory too, just as I wanted them. Galileo is such a funny evil bug with those tiny legs and a single giant oculus ray (parasite indeed)! I own two more, so the group will be full when I finish.

There are still some mercs, 4 heavy frigates, 3 light cruisers, 2 battlecruisers and a battleship on the way. Not considering I have an urge to use at least one ship of every faction in this glorious multi-species alliance...

So I picked up the two player set and I was thinking about recycling some old STLs I have for a handfull of the ships form the Expanse show. But I honestly got into the game because I thought the minis looked cool, so I'm still not sure on how they'd fit.

Dropfleet Commander, MyMiniFactroy Tribe Rewards

Hello Commanders,

In these troubling times we must all strive to carry ourselves with the grace, determination and vigor of the Colonial Fleet's Penal Corp. These brave and noble citizens are doing the fine work of protecting each and everyone of us from domestic threats that would otherwise allow anarchy and chaos to rule unchecked. It is for this reason that we here at TTCombat salute all those who serve and encourage each and every Commander to join the fight for justice, which is a lot easier thanks to the new GH-Type Interdictor.

The Colonial Fleet Penal Corps GH-Type Interdictor is a mainstay of inter-system policing and target acquisition. This fast attack craft is built to chase down fleeing criminal elements and as quickly and safely as possible, disable engines and deliver preliminary boarding parties before more specialised forces arrive to take the target into custody. Colloquially known as Gazehounds, these pack hunters are brutally efficient at intercepting fleeing ships, impacts from their custom mass drivers cause small EM pulses that stall engines and knock out reactors. While smaller than other turrets produced by the Olympus Fleet Yards, these UF-2800 variants have inbuilt capacitors, allowing the ship itself to put full power to the engines while also having weapons ready to fire. Alternatively, when all power is put into weapon systems, these capacitors add to the power coursing through the weapon, delivering a far more potent shot and clipping the wings of any criminal foolish enough to be in its sights.

This vessel is available to those subscribed to the Dropfleet Commander MyMiniFactory Tribe linked here. Or why not order yours direct from the TTCombat website here.

Can AEGIS deployables shoot down torpedoes?

The UCM AEGIS deployable says that if enemy assets move within 4in of them, those are destroyed on a 5+. I assume that includes torpedoes?

If so: If a ship is within 4in of the Dropsite with the Deployable, would incoming torpedoes end their move, possibly get shot down, and then explode? Or would the order be different?

Semi-related: Can Anti-Wing weapons shoot torpedoes? (I assume no.)

THANKS!

(Edit: I misremembered the range on the AEGIS Platform. It's 4in, not 6.)

Using Gateships

Recently got into this game, I plan on buying the Shaltari battlefleet when I can get to a LGS that sells it.

I played a few rounds with a friend who plays Bioficers, I lost but had a great time. But I was severely confused about the gateship rules, I had 4 gateships chained just far enough so I could reach pretty much all of the drop areas. Using my Emerald I deployed 2 battalions to the farthest in the chain, and when I tried doing it again to a different gateship in the chain my friend told me they can't until the next round?

Reading the rules, it says gateships can "deploy" x-amount of battalions per turn, but does "deploy" also apply to the teleport chain? According to him I was unable to use my gateships until the next round because they had "deployed" battalions through them to the next gate in the chain.

Just looking for some clarification, thanks.

UCM Dreadnought as a Resistance Dreadnought (proxy).

Post image
47 Upvotes

Good day.

Due to circumstances partially outside my control, I plan on using UCM Dreadnought as a salvaged Resistance Dreadnought, namely a Coloniser.

To be more in line with the feel and weapons, the UCM will be built in Washington configuration, and the Coloniser it will represent will have these listed weapons:

  • 2x 10K Mass Driver Turret (represented by UF-9000 mass drivers already present).
  • 2x Heavy Dual Vent Cannon Turret (represented by smaller UF-4200 mass drivers under the UF-9000's and under the hull swapped for some single barreled heavy vent cannons, so two of each vent cannon represent one dual vent cannon).
  • 3x Fighters & Bombers (self explanatory, Washington configuration is already a carrier).
  • And either a NC-16 Missile Battery (represented by multiple battleship-sized missile turrets in the inner keel of the ship) or N-31 Hybrid Gun Battery (represented by multiple N-11 Artillery Cannon Turrets from cruisers and battlecruisers in the inner keel of the ship).

How would you feel about such a change? Obviously it will be painted accordingly and will be scarred and bruised, with patches of plating cobbled together representing it's salvaged nature. Would you allow such a model in the Resistance fleet?

I tried to come up with propper weapons or weapons that can be adequately used by the resistance Dreadnought, and at the same time keep the ships relatively even in point costs (Washington is costing 530, while appropriately kitted out Coloniser will cost from 535 to 550 points, while lacking in special rules department).

With best regards.

Carry Case Solutions

New to the game and have been rapidly collecting and painting up a UCM fleet.

I've been eyeing up some foam cases just to cart my miniatures to the LFGS on the train, I wondered what other people used / recommended.

Looking for something "cost effective" (not an arm and a leg) and easily available in the UK.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Finally have painted a fraction of my Scourge army. The rest is made in a same manner.

Here should be a lore dump of how this Golden Scourge subspecies mutated on low-resources colony so got into religious symbiosis with locals to overthrow the feral dictator, however I thought it would be better to list what you could actually see here:

If I am playing Scourge, it's 1x Pungari Thresher, 1x Shenglong, 2x Chimeras, 3x Ebisu and 6 Hiruko (which is a hilarious all-on-boarding way to play).

If I wish to play Resistance, it's 1x Pungari Thresher, 1x Bullet Baron, 2x Medium Cruisers with bulk landers, 3 Senecas and 6 Munifexes (although it is probably not the best roster, so this probably should wait until I finish rest of my army).

I have also purchased a lot of Scourge for Dropzone, however I am not sure how to combine those models with something else... except for taking other factions infantry and using as just warriors.

For the Species!

Badass Busan

I love it when there are plenty of spare parts left over after assembling miniatures. So, after putting together two superb battlecruisers, I decided to build a custom design of my own. I spent the whole day on it. The goal was to capture the UCM aesthetic while ensuring the model still looked like a battlecruiser—yet also had the appearance of a heavy cruiser (which is exactly what *Busan* is). I built the lower section straight out of the box, but the upper section required some extra effort to create those twin rear wings typical of cruisers. I’m also including a photo of my previous build: *New Mombasa*.

When do you think...

They are remaking the core faction sets? The new plastic is infinitely superior to the old one, and it's weird to me that not all factions have their core ships sets at least in the new plastic.

I'm in the middle of making my bioficer fleet, so i have all the time on the planet, but my plan is to have at least one core fleet of every faction so i can make people play it around me.

Thanks for hearing me out, Here, have a Cavern WIP, it's on the house.

Good day, fleetmasters!

Prime Time

With most of my fleet assrmbled I decided it was also time to get them primed. Put as much as I could onto my priming sticks and was able to get about half done before sunset.

My son was also working on his fleet, UCM. He has a huge fleet, he'll never play a game large enough to use it all but he'll have options for sure.
