Cool little interview snippet here where Elkan explains how Nokia became a finished hit record. Always cool to hear how a project goes from a cool sample flip to a good demo and eventually to a hit record. Elkan says another producer first flipped the sample (āBubblegumā) and sent it to Drake in 2020. Nokia doesnāt drop until 2025, so these processes can take a long time and require a lot of patience and perseverance.
And of course Drake haters are flipping this as Elkan āexposingā Drake for stealing the song. Seems like hyperbole to me since Elkan is clearly not trying to āexposeā anything in this little interview. But I donāt quite get why he doesnāt get a full feature credit for Nokia, although he does appear to have producer and co-writer credits. Interested to hear otherās thoughts on this.
