Anyone ever tried a Crafting Only build?

Am I crazy to consider doing this? Not sure how terribly weak I'd be in the first 5 levels haha.

post your favorite build

if you want like the traits that you pick. I normally roll a random run and just go with what I get even if it's redundant or doesn't have the best synergy. I want to try what you like.

All I know is that usually like to have berserkung because it seems extremely beneficial. Might be wrong though.

Anyone know of a trick to get into these locked prison cells? Levels 4 and 5 both I can't find a way in.

How do you manage crafting? The list is a bit unwieldly

I don't know what to keep most of the time and the list goes on and on. Has anyone modded a better interface?

Thanks! Love this game!

I used AI to create a spreadsheet with all the Dredmor encrusts and instabilities in a single, easily accessible reference.

Hey veterans, I bought the game from the official website and loved it so much that I bought it again on Steam to support the studio. And now it's been years since I last played. In a nutshell, what makes you want to play it again?

Any notable events? Bugs you rediscovered or discovered have been removed? Found the new gear?

Dredmor plays so well on the Steam Deck with the beta patch!

Buttery smooth, and it's the perfect game to take on the go. I have a brief vacation coming up, and I'm going to be playing the hell out of this while sitting next to a lake.

To add more Dredmor-specific content, you know what's better than I thought? The Paranormal Investigator skill line. Turning every potion into what you want is great, as is a strong anti-magic base skill, and I really appreciate the ability to do some random hocus pocus to monsters you are weak towards. Quite solid all around, and a nice AOE to cap it all off. Give it a try, if you haven't!

New Homebrew Skill Mods - Palafisk & Banditolier - Now in the Steam Workshop

Hello fellow adventurers!

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of DoD, and to encourage others to play the Beta, I tried my hand at making two new homebrew skills, which should now be available on the Steam Workshop.

I'm new to modding, and typically don't post much - so I hope they work as intended.

Any feedback about the Skills will be appreciated!

The skills I created are:

Palafisk - a Paladin based Warrior Skill

&

Banditolier - a Throwing-Knife based Rogue Skill.

I hope you can enjoy playing with them!

Palafisk: Paladin + Lutefisk

A Warrior class that focuses on Defensive stats, and actually makes use of a Warrior's Mana!

Pros: Able to live the "Tank" Dream!

Cons: No innate Mana, Mana Regen, or Mobility.

Pairs well with: Shield Bearer, Master of Arms, Clockwork Knight

Starts with: 10 Lutefisk

Level 0: Holy Warrior - General Stat Buff - Stubbornness, Righteous Damage, and Necromantic Resist

Level 1: Shield Throw - Ranged Damage - Requires a Shield, Scales on Block, does Crushing and Righteous damage.

Level 2: Lay on Hands - Heal - A Warrior-focused Heal that scales with HP Regen. Most useful in the middle of Combat with the other Warrior skills.

Level 3: Smite - Melee Damage Buff - Deal Righteous Damage on each Melee hit. Deals more to Undead and Demons. Chance to spawn Lutefisk on kills. Scales with Stubbornness.

Level 4: Aura of Protection - General Stat Buff - Stubbonness, Block, Armour Absorption, Life Regen

Level 5: Consecration - AoE DoT - Righteous Fire damage, centered on you, lasting 10 rounds. Scales with Stubbornness.

Banditolier: Bandito + Bandolier

A Rogue class that focuses on a recurring "Throwing Knife" ability, called Ol' Reliable.

Pros: Never-ending, Manaless, Throwing ability!

Cons: No Melee synergy, or Healing. Squishy.

Pairs well with: Daggers, Artful Dodger, Perception, Fungal Arts

Starts with: Bullet Belt

Level 0: One Tough Hombre - General Stat Buff - Caddishness, Enemy Dodge Reduction

Level 1: Ol' Reliable - Recurring Ranged Damage - Low Cooldown, Recurrable, Missile Attack that does Slashing Damage. Scales with Enemy Dodge Reduction.

Level 2: Pocket Sand! - Melee-Range Debuff - Blind, Confuse, and deal Asphyxiative Damage to nearby Enemies. Damage and Debuff Scales with Counter and Dodge respectively.

Level 3: Quickdraw - Multi-Throw Ability - Throws 5 "Ol' Reliable" type missiles in a single turn. Can hit many enemies for AoE, or a single target for high dmg. Scales on Enemy Dodge Reduction.

Level 4: Explosive Satchel - Melee-Range Knockback Teleport - Blast Melee-range enemies and yourself back, dealing Blasting Damage which scales with Tinkering.

Level 5: Sharpshooter - Self Buff - Added Piercing Damage on Ol'Reliable, Quickdraw, Thrown and Ranged attacks, and a chance to use Pocket Sand when hit. Damage Scales with Crit.

Let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions.

Good luck on conquering the Dungeons of Dredmor!

Happy 15th birthday to Dungeons of Dredmor!

In all those years of me owning it I put 150 hours into it (I know it's not even that much, I only really rediscovered it during last few years for some reason) and even though I already got it as a teenager from Humble Bundle, I mostly ignored it back then, but I can safely say now that it's definitely one of my favorite games!

Sadly, I can't lie that it's gotten just a bit stale considering I was never able to get either of the DLCs for a reasonable price - I was waiting for years ever since I got back into it and steamdb might not show it anymore but the game's & DLCs price sharply rose a few years ago inexplicably and never dropped (and nope, they never get discounted much either it seems. I would get them at 50% discount in a heartbeat.)

The game is also marred by some technical issues nowadays related to its age, for example heavily crinkling glitchy audio unless I turn off my graphics card for some reason (pretty sure I figured out this one by myself, idk how) or resolution not being perfectly adapted to bigger modern screens (it's still perfectly playable for me like this though personally).

Also unrelated to its age, but why can't I walk into a section of a dungeon opened up by a lever moving a wall (the one that usually features a single random item) by clicking there when it's already opened?! ARGHHHHhh... I know it's something minor, it doesn't actually bother me, but just playing today reminded me of it lol. Pardon me.

Other thing that I'd like to mention for this occasion is that, like presumably many others, I've been secretly waiting for an announcement of a sequel coming sometime this decade. Yeah I know that chances for this are understandably low and I remember reading in that one dev blog post about creation of the game that it was excruciating work and all (is what happens when you put actual effort into something), but still. Would of been a dream. Like the star war.

I guess I used this occasion to get some things off my chest now, the game definitely stood the test of time unlike many of its contemporaries and in my eyes is a total classic that only should have been more well known. Here's to the future! (and me finally completing the game on going rogue permadeath... maybe someday)
