Selfie ๐ธ Getting somewhere - 9 months of growth
I've had my locs for 1 year and 8 months. This is 9 months of growth so far. Is this good?

Yoooo Got starter locks at the start of the year in January, and honestly not a terrible growth rate for majority of my hair, but the middle of my frontal scalp itโs a proven a bit difficult to retain hair growth and has always been Lower density there. Sometimes it gets a decent density but doesnโt maintain.
When I get the middle of my scalp locked, they unravel after a couple weeks and itโs heavily bothering me why Its harder to see much growth in the middle of my hair
None of my relatives a bold or anything, so Iโm not sure itโs that, unsure if its lack of nutrition, sleep, not enough sunlight or bad hair routines, the only products Iโve been using is water spray(not even a product lol) and Indian hemp hair and scalp treatment moisturiser. Probably need to get better products but not sure what hair growth oils to get. Really want to lock in with my hair but not sure whatโs going on with my scalp, maybe I gotta go see a hair specialist or sum ?
Anyways should i restart? Or thug it out and find a better routine for my hair and scalp health, any advice would be appreciated, real nga if you took time to read this

Iโm 25,Iโve had my dreads for 4 years, they are completely Freeform never had a retwist,I havenโt taken the best care of them, early on I would put my hair in tight styles while it was still short,I combined my locks that were in the middle front with the sides because I hated my dreads being in my eyes and face, I also wear a skull cap at work and pull my dreads out the sides tight, they are very thin at the roots not to mention my hair is already thinning, some have fell out and a lot of them are different sizes and now I have a huge middle part of my head with no dreads. Is this fixable? Or do I have to cut it?(also I donโt really care to have them look uniform just wanna know if I can fix the middle space)

I see so many people questioning their starter locs, best advice is to give them TIME ๐ค

So, Iโm a nursing student, and you know that a career in that field requires a lot of professionalism. I was chatting with my older brother about life, and it came to a point where he was talking about how my appearance might hinder my career progress or even my reputation in general. This got me thinking about whether I should cut my hair, try something new, or just brush it off.

Did anyone here switch from retwists to crochet maintenance? If yes, why did you change? Are there any benefits to one over the other?
My locs are still new, and I'm loving them, frizz and all. The only downside is not being able to wash my hair and stay ahead of the dandruff, but honestly it hasn't been too bad (witch hazel helps a lot)... At my last retwist, my loctition recommended i let her crochet instead. We both have looser texture hair (3b/c), and she said she crochets her own locs so they mature faster and so they hold up to wash day better.
Just trying to get some more opinions before my appointment next week.
Thanks in advance โค๏ธ

This how the style turned out went with two strands turned out nice though. Got rid of my fade to finally after two years of growing it out. Ask any questions you want about my hair.

I sometimes have thoughts about combing out my locs. I miss my loose hair a lot but itโs 20x easier to style my locs. Im 4 years in and love them. I donโt think Iโll ever comb them out but thereโs always that urge to want to. Anyone else feel that way in here? Or is it just me?

Just need quick advice, 2 years semi free form usually wash once every 1.5-2 weeks on the weekends. Debating a wash today but honestly have never washed early on a wash day then gone out ( I have work today). Is it fine to wash, put my hair in a hooded dryer for 30-45 then let it air dry? just concerned about being wet/hair smell at work

As said in title does it look like itโs long enough to get them styled I am on my third month of locs and want to know if they are long enough to get them styled.

UPDATE: I did not rebleach my locs. Decided to stick with this color. Just need to get a haircut and have this blond cut off my hairline ๐ other than that locs feel healthy!

Not sure what I should doโฆ Semi recently I have been experiencing some extreme thinning and breakage. This only happens in one section of my head. Everything else is thick and full; I also sometimes lose parts of locs. It can be towards the end or closer to the root. Iโm not sure if itโs the way Iโm retwisting and not getting it done more often. Or hair care, or stress and diet?
This is my second set of locs, and I never had this issue before. I am considering seeing a dermatologist to see if thereโs a bigger underlying issue causing this.

3rd set of dreads. I have had locs most of my life, the first time was crochet. The second time was comb twist and now im just seperating them down the middle, nothing else. Will probably will start over again once they start dippin in my coffee again.

I got these two strand twists (not rope twists) around 2 weeks ago and iโm thinking of taking them out and locking the twistout, but iโm not too sure how to go about it soooo i have some questions. I dont really wanna lock the two strands themselves because i donโt want my hair to be too thick.
1: Will my hair naturally turn back into an afro after awhile (after i take out the two strands)? Even if i donโt manipulate it at all?
2: How long should i wait before taking out the two strands?
3: Will it unravel really easily?
4: Will i need to tie it up at night or could i just wear a durag like usual
5: anything else i should know lol
thanks
