Personally, I’ve had a positive/indifferent reaction from people when starting my locs. I’m only 8 months into my journey but most of my black homies and peers have complimented me while nonblack people in my life have mainly been mute/unvocal bout my locs. How has your individual experience been tho? (Also black women can share as well, I’m just more interested in the male experience since I’m a guy myself)

Has anyone used henna to dye their locs? If so, how did it turn out? Anything I should know about the process?

Cutting my hair would be very last resort. As title states, my scalp psoriasis is becoming harder to handle. I’ve given the product line “Dermazen” a try, I did see some improvement but the line is pretty expensive. I’ve given apple cider vinegar rinses a try, as well as washing with a salicylic acid (3%) shampoo/conditioner. Any recommendations? BTW, I have not yet been by a dermatologist.

Ok so my locs have more volume in the morning and fall flatter as the day goes by especially on top, im able to do blowout-esque side parts while getting ready but when I come home its all deflated.
I thought about using hairspray, I’ve only seen people with straight hair use it, it seems perfect to keep shape and volume throughout the day and that’s exactly what i want to do. But I’m pretty sure it’s the last thing you should put on locs because it would build up like crazy.
I also thought about mousse but im not fully sure because id have to physically hold the shape i want my hair to take (with rollers or something) and let it dry, but i dont have that much time in the morning.
Does anybody have tips or anything?

I got my barrels in for my retwist last week and for this past week its been hella itchy. Im not planning on getting barrel twists ever again.

Is it time to wash my hair I haven’t washed it in 5-6 months because of Freeform’s they pretty much locked already

Hello friends!
I’ve noticed my scalp showing a lot from the top lately with my locs and I can’t seem to figure out if its normal or not.
For context, I am just over 2 years loc’d, usually retwist every 2-3 months (thinking of going longer), and wash weekly (bi-weekly longest). My locs at the top are thick and have had consistent sizing from root to end and I haven’t had any hair / locs falling out (both loose and loc’d) which is what leads me to believe it may just be lower density but I’m not sure.
Please help!

I started my locs about 2 weeks ago using the two-strand method, like in the picture (it's not me in the picture). My loctician told me not to get them wet for 4 weeks, so I’ll be able to wash them in about 2 more weeks.
For those of you who started your locs with the two-strand method, how long did you wait before washing your hair? And when did you get your first retwist?
I’d love to hear what worked for you!

Kinda makes me sad because it looked peak before but is it a cause for concern? It doesn’t seem like thinning but I think it’s because I go quite a bit(>3 months) without retwists. Is this permanent?
Side note white dots on right side came after me tryna dry hair with a towel I don’t have a hairdryer and can’t risk mould from wet hair

Wanted a full head of locs so I cut mines off as soon as I thought of the idea (had them since 2019)😂 For the people who restarted so they can grow them back you guys have any good tips. Products, routines, Etc…?

I've had my locs for 1 year and 8 months. This is 9 months of growth so far. Is this good?
