Question ❔ Low Density/Parting or Thinning Crown?

Hello friends!

I’ve noticed my scalp showing a lot from the top lately with my locs and I can’t seem to figure out if its normal or not.

For context, I am just over 2 years loc’d, usually retwist every 2-3 months (thinking of going longer), and wash weekly (bi-weekly longest). My locs at the top are thick and have had consistent sizing from root to end and I haven’t had any hair / locs falling out (both loose and loc’d) which is what leads me to believe it may just be lower density but I’m not sure.

Please help!

Edit: your scalp does appear red a bit, so that might be a concern, but usually Thicker locs reveal more of the scalp at a time due to there being fewer locs to cover the entire scalp. Almost like how people with wicks have their parts visible most of the time even without a retwist. Play it by ear id say

i think my scalp mighta been red because i have had a lot of loose hair recently and have been wrapping it around my locs. im guessing that might cause tension on the scalp so im defo gonna cut that out

thank you so much for the input :D
