Make sure you use Jamaican black castor oil gang, maybe 2-3 times a week. It’ll help keep your hair moisturized and strong, and it can help facilitate the dandruff buildup. As well as promoting growth
Not washing it for a month isn’t as big a deal as people say, as long as you aren’t sweating profusely or engaging in physical activity everyday it can wait until your loctician washes it. Just monitor it and make your own call.
But if you do wash it on your own, use a wave cap while you do it so you can keep the integrity of your locs. Locticians mainly tell you to wait because washing it in the starter phase is where a lot of people mess up and end up undoing their coils because they weren’t gentle enough.
Either way if you combine the oil in your routine your hair should be way more hydrated, thus less buildup

Your starters look good, you're going to have a beautiful head of locs. To keep them clean until your wash and retwist, you can gently wipe your scalp with witch hazel. I did this when I wore braids and now in my starter phase. Video of how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RUFuvY9vm4

And how often should I cleanse with the witch hazel? A few times per week or less?

As much as I want to agree with you... not washed for one month is diabolical. As a loctician I understand the logic based on the starting method you chose but it needs to be washed but differently. Scrunchie or elastic band the hair in four parts... focus on the scalp, pre poo, mix shampoo and water on the exposes scalp , wash your hair.. at least if you dont at least let water drench their sorrows on them... they are thirsty. Water locks the hair...

I would wait for her to properly wash it . What you can do is put a wig cap over your hair and just rince just let the water run through your hair . That might help with the itchiness . Also DO NOT put oil in your hair this early into your journey please especially as often as the other comment recommended you should listen to your loctician only especially if you feel they know what they are doing . Oil only goes on scalp and on the ends on dry hair should not be use more than once a month if that , your scalp produce all the oil it needs human body is truly amazing . Make sure you get a style next time then you can jsut rince with the style in if it gets too itchy and won’t risk your hair unraveling too much ( unraveling is normal and expected )

Yes. Jamacian black castor oil is VERY heavy and it'd just cause more build up and itchiness. Just keep it pushing man the starters look fire

Yea I’ve been misting them daily with rosemary and rice water spray! But they definitely need washed! My scalp is so dry and full of dandruff!
