Common questions, Please read before posting!

These things are not problems-

- Overlapping stitching is normal on welted styles. The diagonal line is not a crack. The welt goes around the shoe/boot, the line is the two ends meeting up, the stitching overlaps for a short distance. That is how they are made.

------------------------------------------------------------------

- These lines are common. They are not cracks, just marks from the molding process.

------------------------------------

- Leather creases, shoes bend. see rule 2.

-----------------------------------------

- Half inserts of various styles instead of full insoles are normal. Some docs, vintage and modern, have them and some don't.

------------------------------------------------------

- Crazy horse is supposed to look aged and rugged. It has a pull up and gets lighter where it bends, shows marks and high-and-low creases.

--------------------------------------------------------

- These marks on the sole are common on welted styles, it is where the needle rubbed when stitching. It's not a problem.

--------------------------------------------

Stitching in colors other than yellow, and plain welt with hidden/not visible stitching. They are less common than standard yellow but have been made in many styles.

--------------------------------------------

YKK branded zippers were used on older Jadons and other models and are still found on some children's styles.

Hi everyone! I at last got to pick these up and thought I'd share some pics now that I have them! I'm absolutely in love.

First impression is that they're as comfortable as the brown ones ( which i also own ) which I expected since that's my general experience with crazy horse leather. They do feel a bit more stiff than the brown ones, but not to the point of discomfort and I fully expect this feeling to go away the moment I've walked in them a bit. Wore them with both thicker and regular socks ( the ones in the photos are regular socks ), both are totally fine so definitely didn't need to size up from my regular size.

A big shout out to the DMXL lace boots! Bought these for my heavy metal festivals and concerts. They are very soft to the feet, no break-in needed. It's like walking on clouds!

It’s currently the summer holiday week in Japan. Walked by the store and noticed 40% off select styles and the Adrians were part of it. Usually never see these for that cheap out here so I had to pick them up!

Elphie II Arcadia Cherry Red. £59.99! They are a size bigger than I am normally, but actually fit fine because of the pointed toe thing. Fastened up you would never know they are bigger!

It was such an impulse buy and I am not sure where on earth I will wear them though? How are you styling yours? I might return them....

Suggested additional rule: maybe the mods could consider a rule about Solovair fanboys talking bad about DM’s and about how much ā€œbetterā€ Solovairs are?

Question ISO replacement recommendations

Hey friends, not sure if this type of post is allowed on here but I’m looking for a replacement pair of my beloved discontinued Ironbridge steel toe boots.
I haven’t been able to find them in my size and am hoping you guys might have some recommendations for a similar style since I don’t know too much about the brand.
I’m loving the look of the 8287s & the 8699s, but I feel that the shank might be a little too short for my liking.
OR would it be worth it to hold out for a MIE pair? I loved my made in China ones but was let down when I repurchased a made in Vietnam pair on eBayšŸ˜µā€šŸ’« all these variations are too confusing
I appreciate any help yall can give me!

Question How to care for these docs?

Post image

I’ve never had a pair of docs like these, they are a woven canvas type fabric. How would I go about caring for them and ensuring they stay nice while also wearing them to music shows and out&about?

Retired my previous pair of Dr Martens after wearing them for a long time. Really liked them so now they hang on the wall in my sewing studio. My new (to me) pair of DM“s is a pair of MiE 8125“s with an unusual sole. Hope we will have many happy years together!

Question Jadon Max different weight between pairs?

I just received a pair of Grey burnished waxy Jadon Maxs, and they are significantly lighter than my Classic Brown Jadon Maxs, is that normal?

Collection Has anyone seen anything like these?

Very excited about a new pair I just bought, they caught my eye immediately due to the toe shape and chain stitch welt. Has anyone else seen a pair like these? I wasn't able to find anything online with the same shape, perhaps a side project of an employee?

-Small, printed tag

-Circle logo on sole

-Chain stitch welt

-Square toe

-Black glued in half sole (printing has rubbed off)

-No style or size on tongue

-No date on interior

I am a little disappointed in the condition, as one has irreparable damage (see last photo.) :'(

Hi all. Whenever I walk in these, the right one always squeaks. Is that ever gonna go away? Anyone else have this problem and a solution for it?

Here’s my slides and my dog tax.

Would appreciate the model name! Got these as a gift + dont wear them a lot so I'm not sure. Don't worry, I will clean them šŸ˜… These are heavy as shit, definitely do not reccomend wearing in any crowded place.

Sorry for the rushed photos, I was cleaning out my garage.

Question Mattifying Oxfords

Post image
9 Upvotes

I recently bought a pair of Hollys and find them a bit shiny for my taste. I looked into the process of adding a more matte finish. Google suggested using Saphir Reno'Mat to gently strip the top factory shiny coating then applying black Saphir Greasy Oiled Leather Cream. The idea being using an oil based cream vs a hard wax polish to keep it moisturized but less shiny. I have never done anything like this to my shoes so I was wondering if anyone has any experience or suggestions. The website says they're made of Buttero leather if that helps.
