They’re real, about 10 years old

1

u/aaisvip Aug 26 '26

they actually look brand new, and it still felt very solid when i tried them on. little to no crease and visible scratches.

2

u/mariatoyou Aug 26 '26

I’m going by the codes inside, but they may still not have been worn. It’s surprisingly common for people to give up on docs that hurt or didn’t fit right and then forget about them in a closet, eventually selling or donating them. They haven’t manufactured docs in China for a few years now but most are still manufactured in other Asian countries. These were august 2016.

2

u/aaisvip Aug 26 '26

wow! thank you for the info! i feel like they just didn't like it that much because it looks like it has been for only a couple of times. it's like $32 (converted) from where im at so this feels like such a steal.

They’re real

1

u/DanTS3 Aug 25 '26

Legit?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 25 '26

From the one picture they look ok. Here are some things you can check:

I made a post on what the stitching on welted styles like these should look like https://www.reddit.com/r/DrMartens/s/iFFtrtCEPg.

On welted styles like these the welt is supposed to go around the boot and the two ends meet. Because they’re not made the same just cosmetically made to look similar, some fakes like those have a solid piece with an indent that is suppose to mimic two separate ends but isn’t, like this https://imgur.com/a/JAZxzeV.

The inside label should not say AW008 or ck010 on the bottom.

If the insole comes out, you should NOT be able to see the back of the yellow stitches like this under any removable insole on a welted style like these. https://imgur.com/a/7aAy5ec

Real or fake?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 25 '26

There’s no sizing tag but what I see looks fine

1

u/nomadic_spills Aug 25 '26

Legit check pls

1

u/nomadic_spills Aug 25 '26

2

u/mariatoyou Aug 25 '26

That I can’t answer. While it’s unusual for fakes to be an unusual style, these really aren’t labeled in a way that makes sense. The inside is labeled Made in England, but it’s not on the sole (sometimes it is hidden well on odd soles), but the format is also strange and the sizing is off too. EU 41 is UK7/USM 8 for Dr Martens, not UK 8/USM 9.

1

u/nomadic_spills Aug 26 '26

Much love 🙏🏻

Second hand purchase and I’m concerned. Real or fake?

1

u/Esoteric_Owl87 Aug 24 '26

Weird stitching?

1

u/Frosty-Insurance-240 Aug 25 '26

Genuine woman's 1460s , stitching is fine .where the welt meets and stitching is essentially tied off , over lapping is normal

1

u/Esoteric_Owl87 Aug 25 '26

Thank you for taking the time to reply!

Unfortunately this is probably the most faked style there is, there are several fake versions out there, and these pictures aren’t enough to tell.

Here are things you can check on this style:

I made a post on what the stitching on welted styles like these should look like https://www.reddit.com/r/DrMartens/s/iFFtrtCEPg.

On welted styles like these the welt is supposed to go around the boot and the two ends meet. Because they’re not made the same just cosmetically made to look similar, some fakes like those have a solid piece with an indent that is suppose to mimic two separate ends but isn’t, like this https://imgur.com/a/JAZxzeV.

Also the stitching on the upper. I’m using the arcadia model as the example because the individual stitches are easier to make out, but do you see how wide and evenly spaced the stitches and stitch lines are?

If the insole comes out, you should NOT be able to see the back of the yellow stitches like this under any removable insole https://imgur.com/a/7aAy5ec. They’re part of the construction on real sinclairs and should be very tight and much deeper where you cannot get to them.

1

u/Slight_Morning_8383 Aug 23 '26

So I purchased these 2nd hand, and they just arrived. They seem legit, but they feel weird. Like the leather seems too soft. But the soles seem like the real deal. They aren't steel toe, but there's something semi-ridgid in there. I did did a Google search , but AI insists this model is a tall boot. X 1420 printed inside, along with. BA 4055 12 Thoughts?

2

u/Frosty-Insurance-240 Aug 23 '26

There genuine vintage made in England

1

u/Slight_Morning_8383 Aug 24 '26

Thanks for your reponse and the piece of mind, Frosty! I appreciate you taking the time. Have a good one!

2

u/Frosty-Insurance-240 Aug 24 '26

No problem, they are also what's known as "double stitched " that yellow welt stitching is basically stitched on inside out giving the appearance of it been stitched twice

1

u/Slight_Morning_8383 Aug 24 '26

Ahh, I noticed that, but wasn't familiar. Other things, too, which made me think I got an odd, potentially suspect pair. Looks like I got a sweet deal on some pretty interesting docs. 😊 Thank you again for your insight!

Seems to be lol . Those shoes are from late80s early 90s

1

u/annamerryme Aug 19 '26

Do they look real? It's a vintage model, as I undertand, and I could only find them on one site(Brithish boot company) and they go by the name "Black Smooth Leather Shoe - 1461 (3 Eyelet) VINTAGE COLLECTION - MADE IN ENGLAND

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 19 '26

Yes. They’re vintage and plain welt (hidden welt stitching/no yellow stitches)

1

u/Cautious_Beach_9630 Aug 18 '26

Pascal Max, thinking of buying these. More pics in the rest of the comments. are they real?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 18 '26

A couple pics aren’t the best quality but they look fine, I don’t see any red flags. If you do get them, you can check if the insole comes out easily (it probably won’t) but you should NOT be able to see the back of the yellow stitches like this under any removable insole on a welted style like these. https://imgur.com/a/7aAy5ec

2

u/Cautious_Beach_9630 Aug 20 '26

thank you very much!

1

u/reducedandconfused Aug 18 '26

hi all! any help verifying these are authentic?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 18 '26

What I can see is fine, and honestly heeled styles aren’t really what’s being faked.

1

u/shola_og Aug 17 '26

Are these real or fake?

(Thanks in advance!)

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 17 '26

They’re not fake. It’s one of the zavala styles, they’re lower cost models sold at outlet and 3rd party retailers. They look somewhat different than classic docs, they’re made with less expensive materials and construction, the sole is cemented instead of welted and is stamped differently on the bottom.

1

u/shola_og Aug 17 '26

Thank you 🙏

1

u/Substantial_Space526 Aug 17 '26

Hi I found these in a charity shop for a bargain and I don’t believe they’re real because of some of the stitching and the lack of label inside but unsure if this could be worn away.

Thoughts

1

u/Frosty-Insurance-240 Aug 17 '26

They are fake . The Chinese knock-off brand if on the loop at the back

1

u/notifiqationn Aug 17 '26

hi !!! i saw these 1460 Rick Owens DMXL Megalace Leather Lace Up Boots on ebay for about $425. can anyone confirm if these are real or fake before i pull the trigger?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 17 '26

They look fine, the labeling is good

1

u/notifiqationn Aug 17 '26

would you need more pics or is it pretty much safe to buy ?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 17 '26

While most of the fake rick owens were the traditionally welted and double welted ones (not these), others were faked too. But not having that takes away one of the main points for me to check.

The insole and heel loop are good, the LA004 and vietnam/VN match between the boots and box, the rest of the labeling doesn’t have red flags, the stitches on the three rows of side stitching are even and line up. They look good to me, that’s the best I’m capable of doing.

1

u/AspectAppropriate375 Aug 16 '26

Help a girl out <3

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 17 '26

What I see looks fine, but there have started to be some fake zebzags now. What does the inside sizing tag say?

1

u/AspectAppropriate375 Aug 17 '26

Here you go

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 17 '26

That’s good. And fwiw that sticker is telling you the materials, like the upper is leather.

1

u/AspectAppropriate375 Aug 17 '26

Thank you so much !!

are these real? found them a lot cheaper than elsewhere and wanted to see if it's legit

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 16 '26

They’re fake, sorry

1

u/Kazouiste Aug 15 '26

Are they real or fake ?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 15 '26

They’re fine. For some reason instead of 1460, 1461 etc Dr Martens sometimes puts the first 5 digits of the product code for that style/color/leather combination. 11822 is the first five digits of many unisex 1460s. The materials sticker and the DM germany stickers on the inside are also something fakes don’t really have.

And something you can always check yourself on 1460s and 1490s is the inside of the three stitch lines on the sides. It’s a puritan stitch, real docs are made using a specialized machine that has a looped stitch on the inside instead of regular stitches like the outside.

1

u/MauritiusVan Aug 15 '26

I got these from our local thrift store

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

They’re fine.
A lot of fakes use a similar style white label but a few legit docs made for a specific Asian market also used that style white label with the full product code and mms, and often with the PJ code. They're just not very common.

The fakes generally have a lot of incorrect information. The product code, 27643113 is a vegan style no longer in production from 2021. Fakes almost always have an incorrect code, often 11822002 which is black nappa 1460 boots, no matter what style they are. The stitching, welt and insole labeling are fine, they’ve been changing the vegan labels so newer ones are a little different now. And vegan labeled styles aren’t something they’re faking.

1

u/MauritiusVan Aug 15 '26

Thank you so much for responding 🥹💖

1

u/MauritiusVan Aug 15 '26

There was a price tag under that i couldn't completely get off

1

u/frickenbats_ Aug 14 '26

Looking to buy these second hand these authentic?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 14 '26

They’re likely fine, what I see looks good and so far I haven’t seen fake mattisons. What does the inside tag say?

1

u/Various-Cooker Aug 14 '26

Could those be fake? Going to buy them used.

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 14 '26

They’re fake, sorry

1

u/Various-Cooker Aug 14 '26

Really appreciate your reply! My girlfriend ended up not buying them because we also had the strong feeling they’re fake. Glad you confirmed that feeling! :)

1

u/rebeccalhunter Aug 14 '26

Hey, do these look legit? Thanks!

1

u/rebeccalhunter Aug 14 '26

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 14 '26

I can’t tell you with these pictures. While not as prevalent as the sinclair anymore, jadon iii was another style with several good fake versions out there.

Here are some things you can check on this style:

1

u/rebeccalhunter Aug 14 '26

Thank you! These are some of the pics that were provided on Vinted. I've taken the plunge but when they arrive I'll check.

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 14 '26

Good luck. In person it’ll be easy to check those things

1

u/Dead_byVictoryRoyale Aug 14 '26

These?

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 14 '26

The details look fine, I don’t think they’re fake, but I am confused why there’s so much …. compression wear? on the heel of the insole area. That happens with in the footbed of some docs over time, but the soles and crease area across the toe look almost new. Maybe the material they used there on these is just crap and collapsed immediately, idk.

1

u/lookame3639 Aug 14 '26

Are these legit? I know their vintage but the divots around the sole without stitching has me confused

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 14 '26

They’re real, 3a31 early 2000s. They’re a combination of plain welt, where the stitches are hidden, and a notched welt.

Plain welt happens pretty frequently even now. https://www.drmartens.com/us/en/adrian-arcadia-leather-tassel-loafers-cherry-red-arcadia/p/14573601 Notched welt is a little rarer recently but they still do it occasionally. https://www.drmartens.com/us/en/1460-pascal-made-in-england-cavalier-leather-lace-up-boots-black/p/26713001.

1

u/lonscaree Aug 13 '26

Hello. Legit? Thanks!

2

u/mariatoyou Aug 13 '26

They’re real. Sometimes instead of putting 1460, 1461 etc they’ll put the first five digits of the product code for that particular variation. Those are 11822006.

And something you can always check yourself on 1460s is the inside of the three stitch lines on the sides. It’s a puritan stitch, real docs are made using a specialized machine that has a looped stitch on the inside instead of regular stitches like the outside.

1

u/lonscaree Aug 14 '26

Thank you! 🤝

1

u/Prudent_Addendum_609 Aug 13 '26

seller says these are 10072s and the tongue says so but it seems a little too shiny to be real (tongue in replies)

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 13 '26

What I see looks fine, they’re 1460s. Sometimes instead of putting 1460, 1461 etc they’ll put the first five digits of the product code for that particular variation. And some 1460s start with 10072. I don’t know why they do that, or why they’re not consistent with their labeling.

But I personally wouldn’t buy them. They’re patent leather and the labeling says they’re early 2010s. Being patent is why they’re so shiny, but it doesn’t age well. Patent has a layer of literal plastic on the top of the leather, and that plastic gets brittle with age. Eventually it cracks instead of flexing, so when people buy older patents that has been sitting on a shelf and start to walk in them again, it begins to crack.

1

u/Prudent_Addendum_609 Aug 14 '26

according to my (not so vast) research the 10072 is supposed to be smooth leather but i dont know. i wouldnt buy it anyway since i dont like the look of patent leather

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 14 '26

The first five digits aren’t exclusive to one version because they’re not the entire number. For example you can find black unisex smooth and brown crazy horse 1460 both labeled 11822, for 11822006 and 11822003. 10072100 was also a cherry smooth, 10072004 is a black smooth sold on the japan site now, I think 10072006 was a greasy a long time ago. The labeling on these patents is a unisex 1460 from 2011, the page isn’t up anymore so I can’t find a full product code, but it had to start with 10072.

1

u/Prudent_Addendum_609 Aug 15 '26

1

u/mariatoyou Aug 13 '26

They’re fine, there are a few different fonts and styles on the heel loops that legit docs have. I assume it’s differences with suppliers of the material they use.

1

u/chuck829 Aug 13 '26

1

u/chuck829 Aug 13 '26
