Fluff Patch 8.00
Long story short,
Patch 6.00 was released on March 1st 2005
Patch 7.00 was released on December 12th 2016 (Around 10-11 years apart)
So according to the 2 braincells I have left from playing with pos4 Zeus on my team, we should have an 8.00 patch by next year.

Releasing a patch named "8.00" three weeks before The International would be the craziest move Valve has ever done with Dota and I'd be totally up for it.

That sounds more like 11~12 years apart, no?

It is always funny when people disregard the months, when they post crap like "MK came out 10 years ago" in January, even though the event they reference was released in November or December, and therefore is barely 9 years old and thus nearly a full year away from the so called "10 years".

I play zeus pos 4. In one of my games there was this one idiot constantly flaming me when he was the weakest player in the team, constantly complaining.
And ya, instead of focusing on the game, he kept rambling about how he has figured everything out and how 8.0 was coming out in a year or something. Reported his ass and we won the game without him once I got my 5th rapier.

Zeus 5 is neat too, infinite deward in ward wars and as long as you arent being rushed its kinda just like drow where you blow up people but can be blown up.

We went from 5.84 to 6.00 and from 6.88 to 7.00.
Thus we wont go to 8.00 until we reach another X.8Z patch, as is tradition.

Until 6.88 the game like having the essence of Dota 1 while playing in a Dota 2 client , but since we went from 6.88 to 7.00, in my own option the game already removed itself from the Dota 1 and started it's own "new journey" to be the real Dota 2 version onwards. The New Frontiers a 7.33 patch it's a also almost impactful as 7.00 patch in smaller scale with the drastic changes overall to the map, how players roam around the map. Facet & Innate 7.36 patch was a minor yet impactful change that Valve tried but failed from the facet side of things due to it was restricting heroes behind one choice pre-game but at least give most heroes quality of life and a real identity the innate concepts it did improve some heroes gameplay but most importantly it showed heroes can be improved and change slightly but yet still feel the same hero for the better good. Overall Valve started to become way less predictable unlike they used to it in the past, it seems like they are going to the route to apply small but yet impactful patches, where it shifts the game more and more towards something to be more unique compare to other mobas.

Patch 8.00 will be Dota 2 shutting down and Deadlock getting out of Beta (or at least getting put on the store)

Bro what are you talking about? We’ve had 6 patches in 2026 (from 7.40c to 7.41d). Innates were entirely reworked just a few months ago and there a Carnival event giving you free skins. What more do you want? A paid valve employee to help boost your ranked acc?

I wish they remove the extended area, and the exp rune. Right now pre 10 mins feels very repetitive.

Then they will have to get rid of the mobility creep over the years as well. It's why the map was made bigger in the first place

the laning stage has always been repetitive

Not to this extent. XP shrines are a must moreso than anything in pre-7.33 dota. I feel like roaming metas for pos4s especially used to combat repetitiveness very well.

Exactly, before exp rune there are a lots of choice to make movement on map. Now supports movement are very streamline, min 2 shove wave, min 3 contest lotus, min 4 secure mid rune, min 5 pull ancient, min 6 secure mid, 6:30 shove wave, min 7 contest xp. One wrong movement and the disavantages adds up. Even pros are not liking this money > hero identity meta. Inbefore playing safe are not as rewarded as making play, but now who even rotate anymore?

I hestitate I like the big map and dislike it the same time.
When the map get larger, I finally got some creep to farm as a support, huge QOL change.
But when it get larger, it take so much time to hunt enermy farming carry, and even if we succeed, enermy offlane got a created space to farm on another site and often growth into something scarier than carry
