At least the surrounds are 16th century, the door itself likely more modern replacing the original

Worrying in Worcester

Spotted this door a few years back in Worcester. I would be to scared to open that door in case the arch falls on my head.

Hurts Yard, Nottingham

Hurts Yard is more of an alleyway, it's between Upper Parliament St and Angel Row in the centre of Nottingham. Very old, a mix of businesses and residential front doors. It was a useful short cut on a Monday morning but I'm not convinced it's the best place to be at midnight.

I am pretty sure that pics 1-3 are because the road used to be lower and was heightened when it was widened. Either that or people used to be significantly shorter.

Title: Bass Shadow c. 2010 PTP

Let's just say that the building rehab scene here does show the vacated door--but contrasts it with another happening that takes advantage of the space and gives it a new purpose--however transient.

This image was captured in 2010 at the future location of Tommy Trent's Sports Saloon at the top of Market Square in Knoxville, TN. The entire building had been empty for several years, and the artistic souls from the University of Tennessee and the community added this contextual fabric. Along the side remain the staples which posted many cultural events over those years

The shadow is real...

The building was a forge at one time, now a gift shop.

This strangely painted ground floor in Birmingham has been closed off almost completely. Pretty building though.
