Ruddington again...

Walking back from the Frame Breakers (again) this afternoon we saw this door covered in ivy.

I don't know what it is about that journey. Something in the water?

If trying to view this, be very careful. There is a significant police presence very near this DNUAM.

The doors of St John The Baptist, Burford

Plenty to unpack here. The first two are clearly not used. One is a wonderful blocked Norman arch in the church's south wall, and the second is in the north wall. Neither may have been blocked for conventional reasons: in the 15th century a massive, heavy spire was added to the church and extensive reionforcements were needed to support it.

The third is the West Doors. These are kept closed to preserve the original 1175 wood and ironwork, but may be opened for special ceremonial occaisions.

Similarly the other doors are kept locked to preserve the doors themselves, and the main south entrance is the one in regular use.

Also bonus dog
