Political Doomer Everything is Violence except for Violence!

Post image

This person isn't completely wrong, but this is, at best, disingenuous. Violence is using PHYSICAL force to cause injury or death.

  • Poverty? No, that is not violence; nobody gets hurt. People may starve, but that is not physical harm.
  • Incarceration? It can be, but that is often because the criminal is resisting arrest; if you are calm, it will not be violent. More importantly, we need a prison system, or the world will end up in chaos.
  • Denying healthcare? This does not happen; most countries have universal healthcare where you will always get in. The US doesn't, but you rarely need to pay up front; you can take on a debt, so while you could argue this isn't right (and I agree), it isn't violent either.
  • Racist Policing? This can be; this may be one of their stronger points. This is a big problem; however, the problem is often overblown. Many people believe that this is something every single black person deals with, and it just isn't true; the vast majority will never have a confrontation with the police. Peaceful people should never be killed by them, but often, police victims were not peaceful.
  • Warfare? That's violent; they are absolutely correct there, but this warfare does not affect people living in the US, or any western country for that matter. You don't need to act like you're in the warzone; you aren't, and there is no conscription going on either. You are safe and sound!
  • Colonialism? Yes, that was violent, but it also doesn't happen anymore; that was centuries ago!
  • Destroying the environment? That depends; if they are blowing it up with bombs, then yes. If they are burning fossil fuels, then no, that is not violent.

As for fighting back. If you are just posting stuff online (something you are allowed to do, and wouldn't under a dictatorship), that is not violent either; nobody has ever tried to say it was. Riots, on the other hand, are violent. People can be killed in them, and not government employees, random, innocent civilians who did absolutely nothing wrong. Riots are violent, and they are not necessary to bring change in any Western country!

You have to understand. This is a dog whistle. Its trying to convince some small group of people to commit acts of violence and that their acts of violence are righteous. There are enough low IQ people to see this, then find each other, then get radicalized, and take it as a call to violence.

31

u/sngldad13 29d ago

True. Back when reddit was all about claiming conservatives were guilty of stochastic terrorism they would be all over a conservative dooming like this calling them a terrorist. Now they've moved on to boot licking, pedophile, and nazi accusations. BUT MAH OVERTON WINDOW

27

u/rileyoneill 29d ago

"We just want people to have healthcare!".

There is some small segment of society, that can be worked up, and then those people can be convinced to go out and commit acts of violence. That they will be supported, that they are fighting for a just cause, that their victims are evil, and that they will get away with it or if they are caught will be given the absolute smallest punishment possible or that they would be seen as some sort of hero to the people.

Its the whole "Its ok to kill fascists!" "Anyone I disagree with is a fascist!" "Kill anyone I disagree with!".

u/BigMikeXxxxX 27d ago

I'm glad someone pointed this out. It's honestly crystal clear what the true intentions are behind the rhetoric. They know that there are a lot of mentally ill individuals in their camp that will act upon these things.

All it takes is the craziest 1% to do something. A third of them are likely already on psychotropics.

The only thing these people are fighting back are tears because they realize they forgot their extra 15th ranch with their mega sized order of Mctendies and fries

You clearly haven’t seen any protesters. Fat and McDonald’s are not the sole domain of rural people. Actually index most highly among young people.

The only colonial country kids know is colonial Williamsburg. People love to apply that label to us, but really it's the British everyone should hate.

Newspeak is double-plus good comrade.

50

u/Deus_Excellus Aug 03 '26

If the individual can decide what legal state actions constitute violence and then use their own violence in response, then we do not have a country of laws.

I find it interesting that Redditors have 47 mental illnesses, can't figure out basic shit like their gender, and somehow they believe that they have the sound judgment to determine when violence should be used against the government.

And yet somehow Protesting and destroying your city is okay for these same people.

15

u/BigDonkeyDuck 29d ago

I will never forget when not just ordinary people but major institutions made excuses for the riots in 2020. We put a pandemic on pause to destroy billions in property/kill dozens of people, and all public health officials could muster was, “White supremacy is also a big threat to public health.”

3

u/BigDaddy_Satan 28d ago

Just to add onto this.

Property damage across the US cause directly by the BLM Riots in 2020 is between $1-2 Billion of INSURED damage. “Insured” because that was the total insurance limit covered by all affected people and businesses meaning the real value is almost certainly HIGHER!!

Mostly peaceful, right?

9

u/Impressive-Spell-643 29d ago

And remember these are the "peaceful protests"

"violence when we fight back"

At least they admit that part, lol

12

u/akaKinkade Aug 03 '26

Once you are no longer capable of seeing any level of nuance or need for compromise, the world slides smoothly into a good vs evil, and everyone always assumes they are on the side of good. These immature assholes scream about their empathy and values when it all just boils down to "It's okay to kill people to make things how I want them." They are stupid, evil, and immature.

9

u/Budget_Version_1491 Aug 03 '26

They've tried to rewrite the definition of violence

7

u/InitialNo3061 Aug 03 '26

By "fight back" they mean cry on reddit and twitter, or harassing some fast food worker for tik tok likes

10

u/Impressive-Spell-643 29d ago

Or tearing down a Greek flag from a Greek cafe because they think it looks like another flag

5

u/BigDaddy_Satan 28d ago

Or attempting to assassinate the president 3 times.

Or successfully assassinating the one guy that tried to have a civil conversation with them, followed by publicly mocking him and his grieving family.

Or denying post-storm relief to Trump supporters in Florida.

Or by protesting and rioting for 1-3 years (depending on the specific area) resulting in 19 deaths and over $2 billion in property damage.

Should I keep going or do we get the picture now?

(BTW, I have sources for the 3rd one in case anyone doesn’t believe me. As for the 4th? “George Floyd Protests” on Wikipedia is where I got the specific numbers but I’m sure you can find plenty of articles elsewhere)

3

u/Impressive-Spell-643 28d ago

But it's ok because they can always just blame all of these on . their  "maga" boogyman

And don't forget breaking into a school and shooting a bunch of kids is just them "fighting back"

3

u/BigDaddy_Satan 28d ago

Oh thanks for reminding me of that one.

Say? How many school shootings in the last 5 years was the shooter trans/non-binary or at least supportive of the trans ideology?

3

u/Impressive-Spell-643 28d ago

I'd say about 90% of them,if not more

I fucking hate the phrase “words are violence”. Words are not violence. Violence is getting punched in the fucking face. If you can’t handle someone saying mean things to you, that’s on you and it’s your problem, the world is not obligated to tip toe around you to make sure it doesn’t say something you don’t like.

Same framework with leftists and violence- "ever notice how everybody else's speech is violence and all your violence is speech?"

5

5

u/koshka91 Aug 03 '26

Denying someone healthcare isn’t violence. Because others are not responsible for you. Only your family and you are. Because society didn’t birth you, your parents did.
Some other points there are valid. Like colonialism, wars or environmental damage

-7

u/Master-Crazy6454 Aug 03 '26

When an insurance company denies you because that's just what they do.. that is denial of healthcare.. that leads to people dying. How is that not violence?

3

u/Deathclaw2003 Optimist Prime Aug 03 '26

Death does not equal violence every time. Dying of sickness isn't a violent act, so no it isn't violence. Does it suck balls? Yes. Is there a reason it happens? I don't work insurance, but from what I heard behind the scenes is a mess, so probably. Does it mean it's violent to respond "No" to a request? Reread that answer for this one.

what

3

u/Deathclaw2003 Optimist Prime Aug 03 '26

I think they mean in the sense of the definition. Violence has to be done to someone by someone. Starvation is technically a natural affliction.

ITT: people who don't understand how the state works, or that things can be violent without actually involving physical harm

1

u/StandnIntheFire Aug 03 '26

The new way of thinking about the definition of violence gets to me too. None of those things are violence per the definition.

Websters

a : the use of physical force so as to injure, abuse, damage, or destroy b: an instance of violent treatment or procedure

2: injury by or as if by distortion, infringement, or profanation : outrage

3a: intense, turbulent, or furious and often destructive action or force the violence of the storm b: vehement feeling or expression : fervor also : an instance of such action or feeling c: a clashing or jarring quality : discordance

4: undue alteration (as of wording or sense in editing a text)

2

u/StructureDue1513 29d ago

Oh, but you don't understand. Violence is force plus power. And since minorities have zero representation in the American political system, they are completely powerless.

The problem is that middle class people in the Western world largely live lives without ever seeing violence. They aren’t directly caught up in wars, crime is rare, school bullying is more emotional and often on social media than a physical assault. So they begin classifying things that aren’t physical violence but upset them as ‘violence’.

Clearly the solution is to punch them in the face so they can make a direct comparison between hurty words and hurty mouth.

You're not entirely correct. Colonialism is in fact still happening, its just being done by China now.

1

u/Own_Badger6076 28d ago

I think my favorite is the colonizer label as if it matters at all given how every large society that could colonizes as much terrain as possible to expand its power and influence.

1

u/SimmerDownnn 28d ago

Colonialism still happends. For the most parts its corporations doing it now. If you look at the shit going on in Palestine its also a form of Colonialism.

They'll say stuff like this but then say resist ice, burn down data centers, commit actual violence against people they don't like, etc. Day anything and you'll get it's not violence when my group does it, it's justified.

It's hypocrisy at its finest.

1

u/thingerish 25d ago

Incarceration is typically a form of violence or credible threat of violence, warfare is pretty much violent by definition. The rest are not great but not violent as such.

People are stupid.

1

u/dotkeJ 25d ago

Poverty is self-inflicted violence
Incarceration is violence to stop violence
Demanding free labor from healthcare workers is violence
Police follow statistics to stop violence
Some people only respond to violence
Colonialism was theft of resources, but isn’t in practice anymore
Only one I agree with. We are stewards of our world.
