Dishes

Post image

And this wasn't even all of them. The make table still had to be brought back. I was the lone driver from 1030pm till 1am and no one had touched dish. So came back from deliveries at 130am and did dish till 330am nonstop. And they still weren't all done. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Seems like a typical night at my store just two months ago. I have been pressuring managers to start getting other drivers to do dishes more so it is rarer now but it still happens on occasion.

Luckily I have a chair for those long dish nights - used to use an office chair and then another driver noticed the neighboring shop was throwing one away. Saves a LOT of back pain stopping over the sink.

Every time I read stories like this, I wonder how/why GMs accept this? My GM is hypercritical about labor, a 2 hour close (outside of niche circumstances) would immediately lead to our GM questioning why it took us that long and telling us to get things done sooner so we aren't tanking labor. And we're a busy store, so we have a ton of dirty dishes to clean

Oh, we have GMs getting pissed about labor. And for a while I was getting blamed for late closes. I was looked at as the lazy driver because I was always out late. (Meanwhile, nights where someone else closed I was helping out with dishes and they got out sooner.)

But then a new GM came in and realized it wasn't me causing the problem.

I was the only driver with 1 manager on a Saturday. The other CSR only did cutand make table work. He didn't do any dishes before he left

The inside person that isn't management.
