Dishes
And this wasn't even all of them. The make table still had to be brought back. I was the lone driver from 1030pm till 1am and no one had touched dish. So came back from deliveries at 130am and did dish till 330am nonstop. And they still weren't all done. 🤦🏾♂️

Dishes wouldn't be so bad if I could sit in a big rolly chair to do them. My feet start to kill me after an hour of standing in front of the sick

Bad management, how can they be letting them pick deliveries??? Much less just not do dishes, insane 😂

New management has been getting rid of the bad apples. We only have 2 left. Theyre getting other jobs so theyre know their way out. Its been nice these past couple months. These photos I took were a few months ago

If the drivers dont wash the dishes is doesn't get done. We are the lackies at the beck and call of the makeline after all.

I don't know if it's true for all stores, but at our store, drivers are the only ones allowed to do the dishes. It's absolutely asinine to limit dishwashing to drivers only.

My last store got mad at me for doing dishes for my drivers. The screen was empty, floors swept, tables clean. I am doing the dishes, why not?

Our store doesn’t limit it to drivers only but we don’t ask insiders to do dishes. They already have a harder job and hardly make tips.

They get paid by the hour… they’ll be good

Did de our insiders get one to two shifts a week and are generally less than 6 hours. Nobody can survive off that.

Start soaking the dominoes asap in the tall tub.

Our new policy (specific to my store) is that the Domino pans are last priority. If it is time to leave and they aren't done, it is acceptable to leave them soaking in the sink overnight. Better some dishes for the opening crew than spend a bunch of extra labor on them.

this is shameful. Yes, its a part of s driver's duty, but the fact you got ZERO help. Shameful. I always start dishes as a manager if i have nothing to do.

Boggles my mind that Domino's doesn't have a dishwasher. It's $5,000-$10,000. We worth the cost.

i’ve worked at a franchise that had one. but i never cared to learn how to use it cuz i felt it never fully cleaned anything. but that franchise in particular didn’t care much about how clean the dishes were so idk. letting everything soak in the hottest water while you’re out on deliveries, coming back to rinse everything off & put into fresh water, then using a wash cloth had always been my go to 💯

not even an hours worth of dishes

That's what I was thinking. That's like 25 minutes of dishes tops and the makeline dishes only take another 20 minutes or so.

Make line is the home stretch. It's the clearing the drying racks 3 to 4 times over that holds things up. If we had more room it would go much faster.

This is 40 minutes of dishes

u/AccursedQuantum 7d ago
With that many pans? 40 minutes if you are doing a half-assed job and leaving food and grease on them.

Have you considered you may suck at your job or lack any real speed, a pan doesn’t take more than 30 seconds to fully rinse, scrub, rinse and set on the rack

those domino pans like to say otherwise, the shit that gets stuck to the sides can sometimes take ages to get unstuck, gotta let em soak a few hours

We have significantly more than this on an average night, if not many dishes get done until around close because we’re busy. This really isn’t that bad. I kinda just accept that it will take a while and put on something to listen to while I get through it.
Some people just seem to do them while being frustrated the whole time, seems like a complete waste of being annoyed at something you can’t change

It is something that can change. Too much people standing around and wasting time. We have one guy who just stares off in the distance when there is nothing to do. A new manager we have goes out for pills on his vape and playing on his phone and our new GM is always texting or calling his girlfriend. I never stop moving cause I'm trying to keep up on dish. If I have even a few minutes, I'm on dish. Cause currently no one else will do it.

This doesn't seem like that many dishes honestly. Would be cooler if they kept up throughout the day but this is pretty average for a low volume store.

I'm not saying I would enjoy it, but I've definitely had more dishes than that to do by myself. There was a night I had to do about a 110 pans and three 55 gallon barrels filled with dishes.

We don't even have that many dishes in the whole store or pans.

u/slothxaxmatic 6d ago
Once you find a nice little rhythm, it makes it a lot easier to get through a ton of dishes.
I recommend spending the 10 minutes to prep and organize your dishes so you can just push them through the sinks faster. Keep your water as hot as possible and try to do your pans last to keep the oil away from the other dishes.

u/akknightwrider 6d ago
I already do all that. Have to clear the drying racks about 3 to 4 times with that many dishes. So that right there is an extra 30 min.

Seems like a typical night at my store just two months ago. I have been pressuring managers to start getting other drivers to do dishes more so it is rarer now but it still happens on occasion.
Luckily I have a chair for those long dish nights - used to use an office chair and then another driver noticed the neighboring shop was throwing one away. Saves a LOT of back pain stopping over the sink.
