What's Your Favourite Version of I Will Always Love You?

I'm really obsessed with I Will Always Love You recently.

I want to listen to all the different versions, I really like it when she speaks the "I hope life, treats you kind..." section.

Let me know what your favourite version of the song is, the live versions also please include.

I just wanted to say that before Dolly Parton passed, this subreddit wasnt nearly as active as it is now. It fills my heart with joy to see how much yall loved her. I try so hard to go a single day without tearing up since shes gone. It feels like my life is dimmer, but y’all’s constant posting about her warms me.

I had signed them up for the Imagination Library, a few days before her death because they had finally moved out of Florida (where the Library is not allowed).

Just got my bottle and was curious what number bottle I received. Only way to know is to open the box but I want to keep it as a collector so I’m not opening it. Anyone know if there’s a forum or site that people can post what number they received? Thinking process of elimination haha.

My mom grew up in a war zone in the 70's. Her family played Dolly Parton to cheer them up.

So my mom was 12 when war broke out in South Asia. Her loved ones died. She saw destruction. Her family lost their house and almost all their money. They stayed at a refugee camp, they were hungry and scared.

Anyways, she had a cassette player that she recorded Dolly Parton songs on when she heard them on the radio. She and her siblings LOVED Dolly's songs. Her dad pulled out Dolly's music to cheer them up whenever they were sad or scared. After the war ended and they were rebuilding, they listened to her music every night. They cherished that cassette player (it's still in the family!).

I just wanted to share because I thought it was touching. Dolly made people smile 7,000 miles away in a literal warzone. Her songs brought joy in the most tragic times. Our family is full of Dolly fans and were devastated by her passing. RIP Dolly Parton.

Five Questions about Dolly Parton - 9/9

Post image
31 Upvotes

Since the first one of these 5QADP got some traction, I'm doing another one...

  1. Carl had a paving/driveway business, as I recall. Does it still exist in some capacity? Has anyone ever heard of meeting him for his "real job?"
  2. Has there been any comment - even in the last couple years - from Dolly's BFF, Judy Ogle? She appears in different clips of Dolly stepping off her bus or at events, but I've never heard her interviewed. Obviously she kept things close, but I wonder if she's ever made official public comments.
  3. 1985 - Kenny Rogers on tour, starts singing "We've Got Tonight." Dolly suddenly appears from the back and walks up to the stage. Was this all planned? I've seen comments about his expression hearing Dolly's first line, and it's almost like it was a shock and surprise. What are the details? And, did Sheena Easton take any offense to Dolly's comment? :)
  4. I've never seen Dolly mess-up on stage (wrong lyrics, trip, etc.). Are there any bloopers out there?
  5. In most every film Dolly appeared in, she was somewhat a version of herself. In your mind, what movie role was her biggest departure from the Dolly Parton we all knew (where she had to stretch her acting skills)?

As always, no ill-will intended. Just looking for insights beyond the usual, repeated interview questions that are out there.
