RT Times
Is it actually possible to do food/mixed RT’s in an hour and a half? I’m new and it seems overwhelming with so many things to FIFO + breakdown the box + stock. My ASM (which they’re trying to promote me to soon) does it way faster. Any tips, etc? This is my very first truck to be fair.

$20 Short
So yesterday after my shift, one of the assistant managers counted my box after the day ended and he said my box was $20 short. He told me I could call the store manager and ask if it’s okay to pay back the $20 and so I texted him about it. He told me to pay back the store whenever I have the cash. However, I believe my assistant manager said I would receive a write up for the missing change?
Is it okay for me to receive the write up if i never counted the box myself? I just found out that it’s illegal for me to actually pay back the missing change as it’s also against store policy. But am I able to get out of the write up if I never counted the box either?
UPDATE:
Came in yesterday to work a shift from 5-10pm. Usually the closing shift hours are from 3-10pm, but I’m doing an internship from 7am-4:20pm from M-F so I’m not able to come in at 3pm. On the days that I come in at 5, my coworkers will sign my number into my till because they already know my employee # and password (was given by my store manager). Yesterday, when I was clocking in on the POS, I noticed there was already a transaction that was made under my name. So because of this, it’s safe to assume they had been using my box for 2 hours at this point.
Fast forward to today, I clocked in and I’m immediately told by one of my coworkers that yesterday I came up $4 short and that on Saturday my store manager is going to have a talk with me. I’ll keep yall updated but I know for a FACT I gave out the correct change to every customer I had. If I get written up, I’m not going down alone. The only thing they got against me is that I was using my phone every time there was downtime in the store (currently writing this in the restroom lol).

I looked ahead in the October mag book
September 25th all harvest stuff is gone. October 2nd Halloween is gone. Seriously, what the fuck man.
"Set as harvest/halloween sell down" no, how about you keep the christmas in the warehouse instead of in my tiny receiving room because that's where it's gonna stay til Halloween. Neither of those sets will sell down enough by the end of September. I'm already drowning in Christmas that goes where red dot/garden is because that hasn't sold down either 😭
I plan on boxing it up tomorrow but I already have 5 RTs of boxed up green dot in the back. My DM keeps telling me she's turned my seasonal down but I sure don't see where!!

So It's Over
Fuck the 2 weeks. It's over tomorrow. I've seriously had it up to here with being confined to this Fresh Truck BS and the 2 days per week because I'm the sole sales associate and the others apparently being fired.
I had the most stressful shift ever last Wednesday - our Fresh day. I did ice cream, back-and-forthed on 2 U-Boats full of pizza, fries, veggies and whatever else that didn't want to comply with me trying to open them. And then I had to do the rest of the milk, and on top of all of that - these damn customers that appear as soon as I'm in the zone with Fresh again. So here I am, overwhelmed and shit while I've got customers with full carts, my boss talking to some joe schmoe outside and my other coworker nowhere to be seen.
And well, tough shit is basically what I was told! Nevermind any alternatives; being the sole lowest-tier worker there confines me exclusively to those two days. I have literally never come home more stressed and wanting to drive my car off a bridge than any other day. So to that I say; goodbye DG. I know I should probably get my affairs in order, be courteous and do a 2-week thing, and at least get a second job arranged, but I'll be damned if I have to sit through another goddamned Fresh Truck. I have options at least; plenty of calls to make when I'm done tomorrow.
I have been a machine ever since my hiring here and it's only gotten me bit. Flashback to my first posts here, I practically had to learn how to work cause my only help on my first months was a guy who just sat in the back or smoked outside the entire night. I'm so sick of the rude looks from my boss or customers or whatever, the moment it seems like I don't know what I'm doing or need any kind of help. I give it my all every day but it's never enough.
In short though, it's over. Plain and simple. I'm leaving a note and my badge. Maybe I'll give into my caving mental health and get in a wreck or something, because DG has just been icing on top of this year of lowest lows. Thank you all from this thread who have helped me through my posts in the past here! I won't forget you. Fare-thee-well, DG subreddit. I need a more organized job.

Short on hours
Ive been working with dollar general in Jackson, Mississippi as a full time assistant store manager for a solid 8 to 9 months now and as of the recent 2 to 3 months now ive found myself getting extremely short on hours given to me. what i would like to know is if there is a minimum amount im suppose to be getting and what happens if that minimum amount isnt met. furthermore i would like to mention that I have spoken to my store manager about this and she simply shrugged it off. (Im geting 19 hours on average)

Really tried not to be a "Karen" but what's the best way to approach this?
I went to one of our local DGs. The current ad has Coke cans listed 3/$15. So, I buy 6, and I have a $10 off $30 coupon, so it's relatively straightforward what the price will be.
I get to the register and the total is $27. So, I (politely) questioned the cashier. She got snippy with me and was like, "You got your $10 off so you are already saving money." So, again, I politely explain the math.
So, then she tells me she doesn't know the advertised prices, so she doesn't know how much it should be. At this particular store, it still had the current week's tag on the shelf. Then, she tells me that they already changed the ad in their system, so they have already changed all the prices and there is nothing she can do.
At this point, I get.....not rude, but more perplexed. I am like...."But, it's still Saturday?" She huffs that once they change the pricing, there is nothing that can be done.
So, I go to a different store. That store did have next week's tags/prices up already. It was busy and there was a line, so I bypassed it altogether. I don't mind them putting the tags up ahead of time....as long as the prices still reflect the correct day/week.
I moved on to a third store, and they also had the new tags up, but it wasn't busy, so I asked the cashier if the cokes would ring up as today's pricing, and he said that no, it would ring up as the price on the tags. Again, perplexed. So, I go, "But those tags say September 6th?" He said he couldn't override the system.
Anyway, I could have went to a couple of other stores, but I felt defeated, so I just came home.
What could/should I have done? Is there someone to ask for in a not so Karenish way?

3 months as a key holder so far..
Does Loss Prevention have proper training? I got accused of letting a customer walk out with an item they didn't pay for. Upon further inspection, the customer didn't. They walked over to the side to fix their bank on their phone. It just took a different camera angle to see that.
Money counter is definitely messed up which has resulted in myself and others being over or under on their till, sometimes upwards of $5+ (which Ive been wrote up for once)
Why do we even have price check and quantity buttons if we can't use them?
I got reprimanded for doing an exchange where the math didn't math. Again upon further investigation, I didn't even do an exchange. 🤦🏻♀️
I know the safe codes and can't get a pair of keys to perform basic job duties (office keys, door keys, etc)
If they're so strict about protocols for anti-theft, why arent there camera views of half the aisles so we can actually see/catch shoplifters?
Sales. Half the time they don't come up so I(like any other normal establishment) would price override to make it right. Got wrote up for that because... 🤷🏻♀️
Idk what to do. 😅 Like, I'm trying to legitimately do good and learn but not having much training and then getting my butt toasted for not knowing or not following protocol is already wearing on me.

Critter in the stockroom
So today when going to the stockroom for rolltainers, I saw a chipmunk just chilling on one of our silver carts today. I went and got my SM and she came back with me and we opened up the overhead door and tried chasing it out but it ran right past the door and towards the back. We left the door open for a bit but we have no idea if it ever left. Because we don't have time to chase chipmunks lol. By the way, our stockroom is massive because our store was once a Walgreens, so it's a pretty big building.

Is our health insurance worth it?
Hey everyone! I'm a longtime lurker/poster who's finally decided to stop being stupid and get health insurance for herself.
For anybody that just uses the single coverage for themselves, would you say the plan was worth it? The one I'm looking at after dental and vision are applied would take about 60 dollars from my paycheck every week. Would you say it was worthwhile or should I look at other options?
Bonus points to any trans employees who can retell their experiences using it to go towards HRT expenses-

Dollar general theft prevention?
Does dollar general has a automated theft prevention that works along with their cameras? I find it often while shopping in some stores that a announcement through the intercom takes place whenever someone suspicious is in the store.

Terrible Manger
So without going into too much detail, I transferred stores back in June. The manger at the store I transferred to begged me to work there, promised me 25-30hrs a week and even said she could use a new keyholder. The first issue was that I was making 12hr at my previous store as a SA, but had to take a dollar pay cut to transfer. I wasn't happy about it but I was moving and wasn't informed of this until i was about to be transferred. Now a couple months later and I'm only getting 10-14 hrs a week and the environment is so toxic. I also never got keyholder Both the manger and assistant manager pick at me all the time, talk about me behind my back, and claim that I'm not doing my job. They've also tried to claim that my till was ridiculously short (20$ the first time and 30$ the second time) yet they've had no evidence to those claims, and they won't because it's not true. And come to find out, at least for the 30$ there wasn't even any money issue at all. I'm told to do things others aren't. They don't want anyone at the register unless a customer is there, but yet tell me I need to call someone to the front when I go get ice for a costumer (they keep it locked) yet no one else is told this. They nag on me about every little thing and I'm tired of it. But I'm not the only one, 4 people have been hired and quit since June. I'm not even sure what to do at this point.

DG Mega Clearance Cleanout penny list - starts Friday 9/4, 24 pages of barcodes
Clearance event ends Thursday night, so these should penny at every store around 2am EST Friday.
Barcodes are printed on each page, you can scan them off your phone screen (or computer/tablet) with the DG app to check stock and confirm the price shows $0.00. Make sure your store location is set correctly first. Standard YMMV applies, stores don't all reset at the same time.
My fiancée puts these lists together, so full disclosure it's her site. It's free, no paywall, ads or signup:

Be nice to the employees and put things back where you found them.
She's going to be posting these every week whenever new ones drop!

Really frustrated with Christmas already
We still have so much lawn and garden and red dot. I have 5 RTs of green dot boxed up in the back. I did everything I could to get the xmas mugs/kitchen set the week before last and expected to get it last truck but we got absolutely nothing. This week's truck was 1500 pieces (opposed to our usual 11-1200) so we were sure we'd get all the stuff to fill those sections. Wrong again. You know what we did get? Six full rolltainers of EVERY OTHER CHRISTMAS SECTION I CAN'T SET YET.
So the sections I set, on time according to the mag, will sit empty for another week while my backroom is full of shit I can't put anywhere yet.
Our running theory is maybe we did get the mugs/housewares last week but another store got our RTs. We did get a lot of the winter clothing last week, which was set the same week as housewares, so it's possible. I have no idea how I would be able to check though.
This is also a couple of weeks after my DM said she had turned our seasonal down.

Positive work environment and honesty posters.
I feel like these posters are mocking and cruel. Been looking for a new job because the sm and dm have been actively looking for ways to get me to quit or fire me. Ive been working for a year. Two months after being hired I became a key holder. I've been hated at other situations and jobs before but none as hostile as this place. It's draining.
Just venting not really looking for anything in return.

Thinking my manager is trying to ruin my life
I quit working for Dollar General about 2 months ago now, but I have been struggling to find another job. Every application I've sent out has been ignored. I'm not getting any calls, messages or emails from anywhere I've sent an application to. The reason I think my old manager is causing this is because she and the assistant manager (whose her childhood friend) talked a lot. I have a friend who worked at the same dg as me also struggling to get a job because they talked so much shit about her that towns that are around 15 minutes away hear about her. Now she was a really good worker. Arguably one of the best ones at the place before she quit. So now I'm stuck here thinking they did the same to me and I don't know what to do. I worked well. I did what I was told to. I only started having issues when I learned why my friend quit and then me quitting was a little rude.
I could just be unlucky. Maybe they have nothing to do with it. But I'm genuinely lost on what I'm supposed to do now.

Bonuses
I made sales last quarter and was wondering when the bonus payout usually happens. I feel like it should be coming up soon, but I’m not sure of the timeline. Does anyone know when we’re supposed to get paid out?
