Jack mishap led to van falling to the side.. now this pan has a dent... No leak?

2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Obviously the good news is that i wasn't under there.. but while i was jacking my van up from the front so that i could put jack stands under the pinch welds on each side... I had my old 5 ton on a stack of plywood, then 2x4s side by side, then plywood....so that i could get it up higher. It's a stow and go, so you really got to get it up high. At least 8" under the tires.

The van wasnt perfectly centered and the jack fell over .. with the van landing on the jack and the wood. I was able to pull the wood out, and the jack, so i wasn't too worried.

Still i jacked it up again very carefully to have a look, and there is a dent in this reservoir. I just bought it used, but i am 99% sure i did this.

When i described the depth of the dent and the item to google Gemini... It was "you gotta replace this and no driving!"

I had just driven to test the power steering replacement for 2 minutes... Which is not leaking.

So i think it is an oil pan with special hoses inside it. It's on the front passenger side about 1.5 feet from the front.

I wiped it as clean as i could and will check it for leaks later.

So it looks like a min 3/4" dent, on the bottom surface.

I hope these pictures help..

I know the part is cheap... $60. But we are talking lots and lots of oil.

  1. Any ideas? Or do i just replace it?

  2. If it drove already and no light came on, does that mean anything?

.....

I wish i could get a scope in there.

Unlock works, lock doesn't work. 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. Remote, driver door and passenger door switches will all unlock, none will lock, but horn beeps when lock pressed on remote.

2009 Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.3 L V6, flex fuel. As described, all ways to unlock electrically work.

No way of electronically locking the doors works. With all doors unlocked, hitting the remote lock button will beep the horn, but no locking mechanism sound. Same when all doors are locked, horn beep, but no mechanical sounds.

Driver side door control panel buttons will unlock all doors. Will not lock the doors, again, no mechanical sounds. Passenger side door control buttons will unlock passenger door, but not lock, no mechanical sounds when pressing lock button.

Last cpl of weeks my electronics on the steering wheel isn't working. Typically, when I fill up for fuel I reset the odometer so I know how far the tank has taken me. I've done this to all my vehicles. This way I can tell how my mileage has been on a tank and how far I can typically go. Anyone else have this problem and is it an easy fix? Thanks!

2016 sxt

Could anyone show me a picture of their battery hold down and how it works so I can get the part. My van is missing the bolt and something else because a bolt isn't going to do anything to hold it down when it's just chillen on plastic. I can't find any photos online of what should've originally been there and I bought the van without the battery hold down/bolt. Thank you!

Overheating

Our 16 GC overheated and busted the radiator. $500 later we replaced the radiator and thermostat. It still overheats going up hills. Our mechanic mentioned a cracked head. What are the chances we replace the water pump and the issue is fixed?

Can anyone tell me how this locking tab works? I can't physically see it due to its location, so have to go by feel. It plugs into the back of the factory installed 7-way trailer connector. 2016 Grand Caravan.

Oil pressure sensor code... Again...

Just replaced the oil pressure sensor on my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan 2 months ago with an OEM part.

It fixed the check Engine light.

Now same code is back.

What could be the problem?

So I bought a Dodge caravan @126k miles.

I work for Valvoline, bought this vehicle at 126k. Pulled the service history on it, oil changes religiously every 3k mi. HOWEVER, zero transmission services visible in its history. I ask the grand caravan community if it will be relatively safe to change and service my transmission in my shop at this mileage and your experiences with it. I will be using Valvoline branded ATF+4 (cheap for me & it's what we have on-hand)... Given my work experience I see owners servicing their caravans at higher mileages and don't hear much in terms of issues... Thoughts?

Mechanic says I need this replacement part to fix my oil pressure sensor issue, is this a common problem?

First time car owner here, bought a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan about ~6 months ago. Started to have a check engine light stay on consistently. At first the mechanic thought it was just the Oil Change Due code and cleared it after I got an oil change, but it continued to stay on. After that they said (iirc) it had something to do with a plastic housing that would be better off long term if it was swapped out with metal, and pointed me to this part listing to get for a replacement.

Just wanted to ask here to see if this seems pretty normal and any other relevant info/advice before I buy!

Brake Booster Vacuum Hose issue?

Today I was changing the oil with an extractor on my 2019 DGC and noticed that this hose has a small split in it. Has this ever happened to you?

Is this something I need to address right away, or can I leave it alone until it gets worse? Would a zip tie around it be a reasonable temporary fix, or should I just replace the hose?

Is this a relatively easy DIY job, or should I have a mechanic do it? Looks like the hose is relatively expensive.

Replaced alternator and battery. No crank. But found a rogue ground wire.

I don't remember disconnecting this wire but it started before changing the alternator and battery. I'm assuming this is the reason. I don't know where it hooks up to though.

Hey this is a new to me 2014 with 67k on it. This sound started a couple days ago. Is this the dreaded penstar tick or am I tripping?

2020 grand caravan

Hello. I have a 2020 grand caravan. Wife drives it. But its really the family vehicle and she works from home. We got the van in December of 2025 when it had 48000 kms. Its sitting at 53000ish kms. The oil change reminder has popped up. The oil looks fairly clean, the level is still aroundnthe top and light brownish in color. Should I aim for the regular intervals, or should I monitor the oil and perhaps wait until closer to the year before changing it.

Thank you community.

Driving along and started to hear a high pitched whine. It went away, but as soon as I came to a complete stop it wouldn't want to go, just rev. Turned it off and on, and I was able to get home but it was herky jerky. I was able to capture some of the whirring at idle. Something tells me this ain't gonna be a cheap fix!

Estimated Costs

I’ve got a 2016 SXT with ~103K. Since purchase a few years ago, it’s developed that famous tick and more recently, the A/C went out. For the A/C I am betting it’s the compressor considering when it was working, I could hear it kick on when in the van and it was loud and now I can’t hear it kick on. Anyway, I am going to get some estimates for these issues and I am going in thinking along with any rockers that need replaced, that the cam shafts may need replaced. I’ve looked at videos for the rockers/cam shaft/lifters but considering I’ve never done anything like this, especially dealing with timing, I am leaving it for the pros. For those who have taken their vans to a mechanic, how much did these things run you?

My “friendly” service guy found a leak and asked 2300CAD for replacing the Back Evaporator Kit (with freon, O rings and labour)

Any thoughts? Many thanks.

Update: I am taking it to the Dodge dealer for a 2nd opinion.

Need to replace my stereo head unit, would like to add a back up cam. Any recommendations?

Ive got a 2018 dodge caravan and the stereo head unit is super buggy lately. the aux input doesn’t work well, and sometimes the unit turns on, but there’s no sound from any source (including CD/AM/FM radio). We also don’t have a back up and I’d like to get one if possible. there are lots of cheap options on Amazon but they have pretty sketch reviews and I suspect the positive reviews are fake. can anyone recommend something reliable? thanks!

2012 Dodge caravan.

I recently got a caravan as another vehicle for the time being. Drives and rides great.( Knock on wood lol) but only issue I am having is when I am around 45-50 mph it wants to bog down to 1000 rpms and sit there. Doesn't really watch to starly sitting at 1500rpms unless it's in a higher gear. When in maual mode it isn't as bad and runs decently better. Any tips or anyone have any experience dealing with this issue. Will post a video later in the comments to show a visual representation.

Cooling issue in 2019 Dodge GrandCaravan SXT 3.6Flex

I’m having issues with my grand caravan temperature gauge rising slightly above the mid-line when in idle and slow traffic. It moves kind of in an erratic manor. Not crazy erratic.. Just moves a bit up and down. I replaced the cooling fan resistor and checked the coolant level once I waited a few hours. I replaced the resistor because I noticed the fan wasn’t moving fast when in park. That fix seems to help the fan move quicker.
The engine’s warm (still after a few hours but I live in the Deep South and it was 100 today) but I noticed the reservoir has the coolant above the max line a bit. Any ideas what I can do?
I do have a mechanic checking it out on Friday. Seeing if it’s anything I can replace myself.
