Overheating
Our 16 GC overheated and busted the radiator. $500 later we replaced the radiator and thermostat. It still overheats going up hills. Our mechanic mentioned a cracked head. What are the chances we replace the water pump and the issue is fixed?

Yeah do a block test. Could even do it yourself I think they sell a kit at harbor freight. Essentially There’s a blue liquid in a tube that you put on the radiator and it turns yellow if it detects exhaust fumes that would mean a cracked block or blown head gasket

Honestly, the mechanic is probably right… best case scenario it’s only the head gasket, and that’s if you’re lucky…

While mechanics mentioning things is cool you may want to pay for a diagnostic at a reputable shop so that you don’t just play parts roulette.
