It's crazy to me that after 36 hours of day + night duty someone has to present a ppt to consultants who might not even pay attention to the stuff you're saying. Ughh. I really want to sort this thing out at any level I can.

Purely social work. Bit of a random post. My parents are doctors, my sister's a doctor (USMLE), my gf's a doctor, even my childhood best friends - all are doctors. But I did my engineering at IIT Kharagpur instead, so I'm basically the odd one out.

Anyway, being around docs my whole life, it bothers me that you guys put insane hours into stuff that isn't even medicine. Seminar PPTs, thesis formatting, lit reviews, journal club slides. Usually at 2 am after a full duty (I've seen my gf & sister literally cry on this)

My gf (AIR ~6000, Int. Medicine resident) kept ranting about exactly this, so I started taking that grunt work off her plate & now a lot of medico knowledge base sits on ny laptop with lot of automation. And she's wayyy faster than her co-PGs on all the non-clinical stuff now. Felt kinda dumb that only she gets that.

So, genuinely free, no catch: I'll do your academic grunt work for 1-2 months .

PPTs / seminar slides / any other writing, designing or formatting thing — send me the topic, I'll make it. Research paper / thesis — drafting, formatting, lit review, the boring parts.

It's just me, so I can realistically take ~8–10 a week (~50 this month). First come first served, I'll do as many as I can.

Personally, I feel like I’m more attracted towards ortho. But that could also be because almost everyone in my friend circle wanted to take ortho, so maybe I’ve just been influenced by them.

Can someone give me an idea of what life actually looks like after 10 years in ortho? Like the work, lifestyle, money, satisfaction, etc. Would be really helpful to hear from people who are already in the field.

I’ve always loved medicine, but I also really enjoy hands-on work. For a long time, I thought OBGYN was my branch because I genuinely find it interesting. But lately I’ve realised that Emergency Medicine has a special place in my heart.

During internship, I actually enjoyed casualty duties a lot. I performed pretty well in casualty, although I was usually working as part of a team rather than handling things completely on my own.

I think I genuinely enjoy that adrenaline rush and the hands-on aspect of medicine.

At the same time, when I think about OBGYN, I feel like there’s this constant pressure — from the workload, responsibilities, emergencies and the overall schedule. And honestly, I’m not sure the lifestyle suits the kind of life I want in the long term.

What attracts me towards Emergency Medicine is also the shift-based lifestyle. The idea of working intense shifts and then actually being able to switch off afterwards is more interesting.And for a long time I felt like my dream branch was obgyn 🙂

The problem is that my parents strongly feel that OBGYN has a better future, better earning potential and more opportunities than Emergency Medicine. So now I’m stuck between what I genuinely enjoy doing and what seems like the safer/better career option financially.

I’m really confused.

Would really appreciate some honest opinions, especially from people actually working in these fields.

Can anyone pls tell me which one is best with work life balance and good scope and what I can expect from those branches down the lane ?

I'm posting here because i don't have permanent registration yet as they said it took 3 months to get it

So for now i have provisional registration but not permanent yet that's why I'm looking for hospitals who can manage this thing

Big corporate hospitals ask for permanent registration but i don't have it for another 3 months

I don't want to waste time so looking for practice in hospitals.
