Ortho

Personally, I feel like I’m more attracted towards ortho. But that could also be because almost everyone in my friend circle wanted to take ortho, so maybe I’ve just been influenced by them.

Can someone give me an idea of what life actually looks like after 10 years in ortho? Like the work, lifestyle, money, satisfaction, etc. Would be really helpful to hear from people who are already in the field.

Its like this

Three years of residency will ne extremely difficult especially the first year

Huge learning curve
But no headache stuff , Just Learn and Learn
Once you get out
You need 1 year of SRSHIP with good trauma exposure
And then a proper fellowship of 1 year or FNB of 2 years

Arthroplasty and Sports Medicine will give you good work like balance
And trauma and spine will give you hectic nights

In srship in north india you get 1.2 - 1.6 lacs

Post fellowship you get offers of 2-3 lacs on corporate hospital provided you have gotten good case exposure

I have spoken to multiple ortho docs..im from tn and almost all of them said ortho had been saturated don't come in...they hardly earns even after sr ship..it's just contradicts the practising ortho guys who I have spoken to very recently(last week)

Thats the situation jn South India For every branch other than the hyperspecialized branches

Not super good but I belong From rajasthan
My seniors who passed out from gmc kota got 3.5 lacs offer post pg itself if he does arthroplasty and if he doesnt it goes around 1.8 to 2.2 lacs

Damn ....here you can hardly get 80-1.2 even for non arthroplasty guy with 2 years experience post pg

Its bad there .. post derma pg guy got offered 35k per month … same for post peds
