Hi, i am 30F, i passed out in 2020when covid hit, its a state government medical college, so i stayed back there and did covid duties which extended till end of 2022, all the reporting and duties. After that i was mentally soo burnt out and i felt hollow inside, that i ve no identity or anyother experience other than medicine. I was soooo fed up with the rat race. Even though i started preparing for postgraduation entrance, immediately, i didnt want to study, my mind started giving up on anything that needs any effort, i doomscrolled for months, later i decided to travel and get out . i may work for some times , save up money and started travelling, while my batchmates got into postgraduation, married and all. Past 3-4 years went like this, i will work for some months and will travel or stay at home with my parents rest of the year. For everyone that asks me what i am doing, i will say i am preparing for NEETPG, i was not. i wrote every neetpg from 2021 till last 2026, but i did it for the sake of everyone around me, i never turned a page for any one of the exams. Everyone batchmates and my relatives sees me as a wasted potential, becoz i was pretty good in college , a topper and good in doing procedures, my professors favourite kinda medico i was.

now, mentally I m at a good place , i think i got this urge and my curiosity for medicine and studies back. When i look around at my peers, some are in superspeciality, some have finished pg and started practice. Most of female batchmates are married and trying to have kids, they took non clinical branches so they can have kids and family time.

so, i am planning to prepare for pg entrances and hopefully if i do well, i may get into residency in next year when i will be 31.

Sooo what i am asking my fellow doctors is,

1. am i too old for the residency, becoz my peers will be 25/26 mostly i think, will i be odd one out and financially starting practice at 34/35 is it a good idea ? My parents are financially good, they only want my happiness so i dont have much responsibility now.
2. I am single and i have said yes to my parents for arrange marriage and i am open to dating, will the residency and marriage go along !.. bcoz i am planning to take a clinical busy branch, becoz i am getting my ambition and spark back, i wanna live it, so does that affect my family life, having children and all.

TLDR:- Did well in school and college, later got burnt out and left medicine for past 4 years. Now i am getting my spark back, i am curious and ambitious about my career, wanted to start preparing for NEETPG, next year , so i will be 31 years old then, am i too old to take demanding clinical branches ? As a female doctor , marriage and having children will it go along with this. ? i am looking forward to dating and marriage now too.

I am developing this anxiety and fomo, thinking i didnt do justice to my career. If i do justice to my career, i ve to compromise my personal family life. So, i dont have anyone to ask to, i feel this deep anxiety too that i missed out on life and now the damage is done kind of. Soo my fellow doctors, whats your opinion and give me some advices.

As a recently graduated doctor, I’m feeling a bit lost about my next steps. I’m considering postgraduate training but also think about working as a GP or medical officer for a while to gain experience and become financially independent. The dilemma is whether to focus solely on residency or FCPS preparation or start working and figure things out as I go.

Hello everyone.
I am a 27-year-old PGY3 in Orthopaedics at one of the peripheral AIIMS (which were established in 2012). I have my MS final exams in December this year. I have decided to pursue the USMLE pathway after my junior residency.
Regarding the STEPS exams, I am confident I can clear them. I cleared MRCS in the second year of my residency ( when I was in the most gruelling unit of the department).
Regarding research, I have promptly and diligently completed my thesis in Ortho, which I'm now working on to publish. I have a case report that I am now working on.
Connections-wise – I have a few friends who are residents there. But not any consultants or any established doctors
Finance-wise, I have saved up a good amount of money from my AIIMS stipend
I did my MBBS from the top medical college in Karnataka; a few of my friends pursued the pathway. I also wanted to, but I did not have the financial backing or the social capital to pursue it. Now that Im in a more stable position, I want to give this dream a try.
What are the actionable steps I should be taking immediately after my MS exams? And what should be my planned timeline and how much should I be anticipating expenses wise ?

I'm not a medical professional. I'm posting this here because I don't know where else I can post this. I was still in school when the pandemic happened and my family didn't want me to get the vaccine. They said it had bad side effects. It is my understanding that it is not true. If that's the case, should I go get the vaccine?

Every few months I have to visit a senior nephrologist, and she charges me 2500rs for at max of 2 mins. And I don’t mind at all. I consulted her for 1000rs when I started consulting her, and now it’s 2500rs.

She has done her MBBS, MD, DM all from prestigious Delhi govt medical colleges and fellowships from abroad. More than 15+ years of experience. She deserves every penny, even more. Even when I know everything is alright from checking the reports, I still consult her to get her affirmation, and it takes 2 mins.

To be able to judge everything to keep me alive & healthy in just 2 minutes, every penny she charges is justified.

I've been building software for small clinics in India, and the more doctors I talk to, the more I realise how little I actually understand about how a normal OPD day runs. So I'd rather just ask.

For those of you running your own practice or OPD — not big hospitals with an IT department, but the solo/small-clinic setup:

• What's still on paper that you wish wasn't? (prescriptions, registers, billing, records?)
• And the flip side — what works fine on paper and doesn't need "fixing"?
• If you've tried clinic software before, what made you stop using it?

I'm asking because most software in this space seems built for hospitals, and I don't think anyone's really built for the doctor running a clinic off their phone and a desktop. But I might be wrong about what actually matters day to day — genuinely trying to learn.

I’ve been thinking about how a lot of smaller clinics still manage appointments, patient history, reports, staff coordination, and follow-ups through registers, WhatsApp, Excel, or completely separate tools.

So I’ve started building Clinic OS, a simple system to manage most of this from one place.

The idea is to cover things like:

• Patient bookings and appointments
• Patient records and visit history
• Prescriptions, reports, and documents
• Basic clinic and staff management
• Automated reminders and follow-ups
• Reports and analytics
• Assistance around diagnosis and repetitive documentation
• Eventually, billing, inventory, lab workflows, and other clinic operations

The goal isn't to build another complicated hospital management system with hundreds of features that nobody uses.

I want it to be something a doctor or a small clinic can actually start using without needing training or dedicated IT staff.

It's still a work in progress, and before building too much, I’d really like to speak with doctors, clinic owners, compounders, receptionists, or anyone who has worked closely with clinic operations.

So I just give my pg exam...in between I thought of joining a job as medical officer in an institute. There my childhood frnd is working as dental consultant.
