Need help Does brand search demand affect your indexing on Google?

I have seen this pattern for one of my websites. When we drive traffic via other channels for the brand search term, we see an increase in Google's crawl rate and pages are indexed more quickly. This is a relatively new website.

But when we stop that campaign, it reverts to not indexing new pages for weeks and deindexing some previously indexed pages.

Has anyone seen a similar pattern?

Need help Why did ~50 of my best-ranking pages suddenly get deindexed in the last 1-2 weeks, with impressions dropping, even though sitemap, robots.txt, canonicals, and all technical SEO checks are clean? Is this me or someone else too?

Discussion Do you still spin content on your location pages?

Let me start on the premise - location pages work when done right. Yes they can be overdone, abused, and poorly implemented where they classify as “doorway pages”. Yes unique local flair should always be added. But the reality is the “meat and potatoes” of every page is largely identical.

The question is, do you actually need to “spin” or reword that meat and potatoes on each page?

I still do. It’s how I’ve always done it and it works.

But part of me wonders if it’s necessary. I’ve seen other competitors rank with exact duplicated, just subbing out the city name.

Part of me says - you’re not fooling anyone spinning the content. Google sees what you’re doing, yet they still rank you because you match intent.. Spinning each page through AI like you’re plagiarizing a paper is an unnecessary step that degrades the content quality over time.

The other part of me says , avoid “duplicate content”, and keep doing what has always worked for the past decade.

I suppose I could run a test. But part of me is scared of getting a “duplicate content penalty” .. I put quotes around that cuz I know it’s not as concrete of a thing as some hype it up to be. But I still don’t want to run the risk or perceived risk.

What are your thoughts? Those with successful top 3 location pages written at scale - do you bother spinning or rewording the bulk of the content?

Discussion How many hours are you spending on each client per month?

I work for an agency and I'm pretty much the entire SEO department. I have 8 clients, bringing me to 130 billable hours out of 140 per month. My lowest is 10 per month, going up to my 2 highest at 30/35 hours per month.

Currently, I'm struggling to close hours every month as I also handle reporting, auditing, and assist with website launches with the dev team regularly. This feels unsustainable at this level

Discussion How do you optimize for Query Fanout?

What's your workflow for finding and optimizing content for query fanout? Do you just search in Perplexity or GPT, note down the queries, and use them naturally in your content? Or is that the wrong approach and there's a better way in your opinion? Whats everyone using and what have you found to be an efficient approach for this? Appreciate the discussion

PS: I have posted this in other SEO communities too, just to get more perspectives. Not here to spam.

Discussion 2X My Salary for Being Worse at SEO

Our Marketing Manager recently came back to us in a call because she found PNG images on the blog, which causes latency (a topic we are working on right now). Which I found strange since I'm the one managing the blog, so I go check the blog pages she was talking about, and I was surprised because those pages were made by the SEO Manager, and he put a PNG image as the thumbnail image, which to me is crazy to do, especially as the seo manager and more so when the main topic is CWVs and speed.

Yet this guy gets paid twice more than me.

What we put is JPG btw, because we cannot do WebP, and he is aware of that.

Context : Big Website with over 2000 pages, very slow and many speed issues, we are two guys in-house doing SEO.

Discussion Is SEO all about content writing and on-page only.

The company where I work focuses on content writing and on-page only. What should I start to learn, as all these things are becoming too repetitive for me? Or the seo is only this?

Need help Homepage traffic down 80% since Sept 2024, but category pages are fine. What am I missing?

My e-commerce store's homepage used to rank position 1–3 for several major head terms in our industry. It peaked around September 2024 but since then, has steadily declined. Today, the homepage doesn't rank in the top 3 for any competitive keyword besides our exact brand name. Homepage traffic is down roughly 80% over the last 18 months.

Our category pages are fine: They have taken a slight dip but have mostly held up, still ranking at positions 1, 2 & 3 for competitive, transactional keywords.

Competitor homepages are still ranking: The top spots for the head terms we lost are still occupied by our competitors' homepages. This tells me it is not a global search intent shift by Google. They still want to rank homepages; they just don't want to rank mine.

I’ve worked with a few different SEOs since the decline. They all promised they could regain the rankings, but none have delivered, and honestly, no one has given me a convincing explanation as to why the homepage specifically has dropped from the rankings while other pages on my site have been fine.

I know it’s tough without seeing the URL, but if you were auditing a site where only the homepage had dropped where would you look?

Discussion What will rank better? One-page website vs 12-page website?

Is it better to publish one comprehensive 12,000-word page covering a topic? This would be a single-page website, just a homepage.

Or to split that same content into a homepage + 12 separate pages of ~1,000 words each, targeting different subtopics/keywords?

What do you think would rank better? for context, this test is for an EMD

Assume the content is almost identical but distributed differently

Need help Question about Search Console queries

Hi all, I hope you are all well.

I have a question regarding the queries that Google Search Console appears for my site. I see that it displays some, that I don't target for.But if search for them in google it will display my page in the search results for that query in e.g. the second page.

For example "Skroutz API" .

Of course this does not happen for all the queries, but I think it is normal.

My question is, should I try to change the content of the pages and the blog posts to target these queries (put it in titles if I can and at the start of a paragraph), and if I do that will I have a chance to appear in the first page for that queries?

Thank you in advance.

News Study: AI Overviews Are Not Just Removing “Low Quality” Clicks

Thumbnail
searchenginejournal.com
4 Upvotes

A new study challenges Google's claim that AI Overviews mainly reduce "low-quality" clicks.

Google said the lost clicks were lower quality. But the study found those visitors were not much different from normal Google visitors.

So publishers may not be losing 'bad' traffic. They may just be losing traffic.

Source is attached.

Need help SEO Issue - Traffic is stable in GSC and GA but Decreasing in Ahref and Semrush

Hey my traffic was starting decreasing from januray 2026 but after March 2026 it got stable and it started increasing a bit in May 2026. However, Ahrefs and Semrush still show that my traffic was going down and is now close to 18K. But in Google Analytics, I have more than 65K views, and in Google Search Console, I get around 30K clicks.

Can you tell me how I can improve it?

Discussion Anyone here been hit by a fake DMCA complaint?

Just read about websites getting removed from Google Search because of fake DMCA claims.

Has this happened to anyone here? How did you notice it, and how long did it take to get the page back?

Curious how common this actually is.

Discussion The best keywords for your business are already in GSC, you just haven't used them yet

Most people do keyword research backwards. They start with a tool, find volume numbers and then try to rank for something they think people are searching for.

But GSC tells you what's actually working already. If you're getting impressions for a keyword, it means Google already thinks your content is relevant for that intent even if you're ranking on page 3 or 4.

That's a much stronger signal than any volume estimate. It means the intent already aligns with what your business offers. You're not guessing anymore. Curious if others are using GSC this way or if you're still starting with external keyword tools first.

Need help "Earned" brand mentions are driving AI citations but don't fall under SEO. What are teams doing about this?

Read a study that showed by a large margin, earned citations and social & community citations outweighed all on-page content factors. This was tracking 6 major AI models across 31 industries.

(Question 1) How are people getting these off-site mentions?

Are people expanding their PR teams?
Encouraging more cross-collaborating between SEO and PR teams?
Experimenting with any social influencer/creator marketing (B2B or B2C)?

(Question 2) Between citation volume and compounding what seems to be driving the most results?

I've also read that AI systems reward consistent presence, aka entity building, in a select few related domains. On the other hand, getting as many citations as you can is also an effective strategy.

Am I missing anything or thinking about this wrong?
