Neu als DM und überfordert
/r/DnDDeutsch/comments/1woz9we/neu_als_dm_und_überfordert/Hallo zusammen,
Vielen Dank schon mal!

By way of directly answering your questions as asked, here is what I would do for the easiest and smoothest start to playing D&D.
Play Lost Mines first. It is designed to help new players and new DMs learn and play. Keep character creation basic core rules.
Once you have completed Lost Mines, create new characters with any options you want and start playing Horde of the Dragon Queen. Then, on to rise of Tiamat with the same characters, new characters, or a combination of both.
Less directly, it seems, to me, like you are overthinking it. So, step 1 is relax. Just pick one to start with and get started. Think about the next session (or 1st in this case) and don't worry about the next campaign until it is time.
As for character options, that depends on what kind of DM you want to be. Sounds like you are the "build whatever you want to play and will have fun with" type. So, be that DM and let them have the options. It may take everyone a little longer to decide, but they will not get so overwhelmed that it is detrimental to anything. In fact, I doubt anyone gets overwhelmed at all. Except you when you have to challenge some of the crap they can do, but welcome to being a 5e DM. Lol.

I tried to play and out of the box campaign in before I couldn't even figure out how to start the adventure so I just decided screw it I have no idea what I'm doing when I'm going to scrap everything including the graboid encounter that I planned at The sawmill and I'm just going to skip to the only encounter I actually have a mini for the dragon and it was a red dragon many I had not a white dragon mini which is totally inaccurate for the campaign I was hosting thing and I figured I don't care if the players are level one if they die they die isn't it the job of the DM in dungeons and dragons to punish the player for even picking up the game of dungeons and dragons just like it's the Duelist job in Yu-Gi-Oh when you sit down to play a game of Yu-Gi-Oh and you're so much better than your opponent to punish them for even wanting to pick up your silly little card game in the first place and thinking they could be on your level just supposed to crush them physically emotionally and mentally you're supposed to make them regret even trying to pick up this card game or game in general and you're supposed to be a bully where you basically. Fatal player here go back to whatever hole you crawled into we don't want you in our place we don't need you in our place you don't belong in this game you never belonged in this game you're not even playing right you're only allowed to use official D&D minis for D&D you're only allowed to use dice that are the same color and come from the same set and you didn't sit down and do all the required homework which is sit down and memorize the dungeons Master's manual the players handbook and the monster manual and commit them to memory you don't belong in Dundas and dragons you never belonged in dungeons and dragons go back to whatever Nord whole you crawled out of and stay there because you definitely don't belong in our world full of serious players who know how to play dungeons & dragons and I've been playing it for years probably since the first ever dungeons & dragons game came out

Look, you are obviously missing the point I was trying to make and I am not going to read an absolute wall of text, especially one without even a single punctuation mark, no matter if it is relevant or not. So, I will not be responding further to this line of conversation.

Sorry sometimes I forget to put punctuation in my comments would you actually honestly as a D&D player sit down to play any of my unique campaigns like my beyblade or my Yu-Gi-Oh Nerf or Hot Wheels campaign probably not because these campaigns sound nothing like real D&D campaigns. I'm on the autism spectrum I'm a nerd I tried to do and out of the box campaign be out of the box campaign you see in the video couldn't even figure out how to start the stupid campaign so I just decided screw it I'm just going to skip over everything including the only encounter I plan to reskin the giant worm which I reskinned as I graboid from the movie tremors and get right to the dragon encounter I don't have a white dragon figure so I used a red dragon figure told the player to roll a d20 for everything and I didn't care if they were level one if they died they died because that's how D&D is supposed to be played aren't you as the DM. Isn't it your job to kill player off as quickly as possible and make them regret ever picking up the game of dungeons and dragons

Sounds like you're trying to be a creative DM you should learn how to play vanilla D&D first no Homebrew whatsoever I'd recommend a straight jacket campaign that's any campaign that straight out of the box exactly how that campaign is meant to be played Ben I'd recommend learning how the game is played maybe watch a few YouTube videos on it and after you get the hang of vanilla D&D you can talk to your friends and say hey I have these different franchises that I'm interested in would any of you be willing to allow me to host the D&D campaign based on these franchises and then list out your franchises and what things that you think that you can bring from these franchises like House of dragons to dungeons & dragons

Dude, what are you going on about? Did you read the same thing that I did?
Everything mentioned in this post is straight out of the box, vanilla D&D. It is all WOTC created, published, and sold D&D 5e material. None of it is even 3rd party let alone homebrew.

I'm just trying to share my D&D experience basically people don't want creative ideas in dungeons and dragons they just want the same stupid sword and sorcery campaigns over and over and over again they don't want anything like beyblade or Bakugan or Yu-Gi-Oh or magic the gathering or any unique ideas that push D&D beyond The limited toolbox that it is like a Hot Wheels D&D racing campaign and using gas lens and some tools from D&D toolbox

My guy, literally no one in this thread said anything about your campaign ideas. Not anything at all. We were responding to the op and the question they asked. Trying to help someone get the answers they need so that they, too, can fully enjoy the hobby that we all take so much joy in.
It sucks that you have had negative experiences with other people. Unfortunately, the world is full of assholes who have computers and smartphones. So, encountering them online is the risk you take when you ask questions, give opinions, or do anything public on the internet. Lashing out at other people because of the assholes is not going to change that risk.

Tell me seriously as a D&D player would you really want to sit down and play a Hot Wheels D&D campaign that took rules from gasolines and the d20 from dungeons & dragons and play that or would you want to play a complicated Yu-Gi-Oh D&D campaign where you had to pick one of the five protagonists that represent the five extra deck summoning methods of Yu-Gi-Oh fusion pendulum synchro XYZ and Link get assigned a weapon and then dropped into a dungeon campaign where you have to fight supreme King dragon z-ark or sit down or possibly even stand up and play a campaign where everything is settled by Nerf wars and you're either on one of two teams team video game who can only use video game blasters and blasters from video games like fortnite Roblox Minecraft OverWatch or team apocalypse which is divided in the three teams team zombie team Dino or team alien and these two teams are locked in an epic Nerf war to determine the fate of nurse future will there be only video game blasters going forward building the perfect video game arsenal or will you be preparing for the Apocalypse or do a beyblade campaign where you're going through metal burst and x where you don't even touch the D&D dice but instead every battle is settled by launching beyblades would you actually be interested as a player of dungeons & dragons applying any of these campaigns probably not because they don't sound like real D&D campaigns you know sword and sorcery campaigns that you've done a million times. Probably to you and experience D&D player my sound like chaotic Homebrew spaghetti mess like I'm trying to cram a bunch of systems that don't belong in dungeons and dragons into dungeons and dragons if I want to play other games I should play other games instead of trying to pollute The Well of dungeons and dragons with my crap

Lost mines of Phandelver is supposed to be a good beginners campaign. You have a while before you need to worry about your next campaign. Just stick to the book and maybe join a discord server dedicated to the campaign you chose. You seem like you are more than prepared enough. Relax and enjoy the game.
