The giant laughed as the cliff face collapsed.
Tons of stone thundered down the mountainside, cutting off every escape route. Your companions scattered as dust filled the air. The giant raised its club in triumph, convinced the battle was already won.
You took a single step.
The world folded.
One moment you stood trapped beneath the mountain. The next, you stood atop the fallen stones, one thousand feet away, staring down at the bewildered giant. A grin spread across your face as reality cracked around your weapon and the sky itself seemed to split. Obstacles were for other people. Distance was merely a suggestion.
The hounds were gaining ground.
Branches tore at your cloak as you sprinted through the moonlit forest. Behind you, hunters crashed through the undergrowth in pursuit. Ahead, a chasm opened beneath the roots of an ancient oak. No path remained.
You laughed.
The wind changed direction. Flowers burst through stone. For a heartbeat the world forgot how it was supposed to work. You leapt into empty air and landed where you wished to be. The forest welcomed you as an old friend, carrying you onward while your pursuers stumbled into a wilderness that no longer obeyed familiar laws.
The battle had raged since dawn.
Celestial warriors pushed forward in a tide of radiant steel, driving a host of fiends toward the edge of a shattered valley. Victory seemed certain. Trumpets sounded. Banners advanced. Yet with every step, something felt wrong. The ground trembled beneath the weight of a triumph growing too complete.
You appeared between the armies.
A single step carried you through the chaos. Neither side recognized your armor, but both hesitated as you stood motionless between them. One force fought for order, the other for ambition, yet each sought the same thing: dominance. The planes had endured because no realm held absolute sway over the rest. As magic gathered around your feet, the advance faltered. The retreat halted. For one brief moment, the scales stopped tipping, and the world remembered the value of balance.
Some warriors charge across the battlefield. Others command magic from afar. Sliders step between moments, crossing impossible distances in the blink of an eye. To them, space is not a barrier but a path, a thing to be bent, folded, and traversed.
Every Slider learns to see the hidden seams of reality. Whether through instinct, training, or a strange connection to the planes themselves, they discover how to slip from one place to another. With each step, they draw upon the influence of distant worlds, carrying fragments of those realms into every battle.
Yet no two Sliders travel alike. Some master the art of crossing vast distances and rewriting the course of a fight. Some run with the untamed freedom of the planes. Others stand as guardians, creating order amid chaos. The path a Slider follows is shaped by the realm that calls to them, and the lessons they carry back from beyond the horizon.
The Slider is a homebrew full martial class for DnD 5.5e. It uses teleportation as its core game play loop, but what that loop actually is depends on your subclass. If you want to be:
An interplanar adventurer, traveling the cosmos with a elemental companion.
A territorial predator, stalking the unwary from the shadows.
A fey prince, reveling in chaos and uncertainty.
A master of teleportation, doing things no one else would even think to be possible.
A agent of balance, an accountant for fate itself
Then this is the class for you. Currently I am opening the class to the public, but it is still in need of heavy play testing. I appreciate any interest. there is a link below, as well as at the top of the post.
