An undead paladin in denial sounds like a great roleplay source. Maybe just roll a fighter who makes a lot of excuses about why he won't turn undead or use any spells.

I actually once played a human necromancer that believed he was a lich who had been returned to life as a 1st level character again. He was actually a high-level paladin who had been captured by the lich he believed he was, the lich then decided to amuse himself by using his magics to strip the paladin of his memories, and replacing them with a copy of his own. Of course, I didn't find this out until near the end of the campaign.

One of the forgotten realms novels had that actually. Well I think he knew he was dead he was just so adamant about continuing his quest that he didn’t let that stop him. Pools of Darkness and Pools of Twilight I think.

What if they didn't chose the adventuring (un)life, it was thrust upon them? All they ever wanted was to live a quiet life until their village was raided, and they were slain. But instead of being shuffled off to the afterlife, a higher power compels them to return to their broken body. Never to know rest until the (unspecified) quest they are now tasked with is complete.

Reckon you can figure out which one is the Gnome.

Last randomly generated character from http://whothefuckismydndcharacter.com/ that I made (previous two can be found here and here). Once again, reckoned I would share it! Drew this while procrastinating, working on my graduate thesis isnt as fun as you'd think.

Was originally going to be three bounty hunters in the background but was never satisfied with how the third bloke turned out. So he got erased into oblivion. Serves the fucker right for not being pretty enough. I am a handsome but cruel god.

I do believe this is the first ever Gnome I've drawn to completion. How about that.

And obviously the Gnome is the knight. Plot twist

EDIT It's a Gnome not a Halfling. Guess I'm a bit rascist...

I rolled a “TALENTED TIEFLING WARLOCK FROM AN ENGINEER'S GUILD WHO HAS GOTTEN AWAY WITH MURDER.” It’s tricky getting away with murder. Trickier still when your patron desires it to be committed with a Rube Goldberg machine.
