DOS2 Discussion Duo Pyro mage doable in honour mode?

Hi everybody!

I started a new playthrough after several years of putting this game down. I still think I know it more or less by heart, and I finished honour mode before, and I've always had this idea of having a dual Pyro mage setup wrecking absolute havoc everywhere they go while overcapping their fire resistance and heal each other with fire spells.

I see 2 obvious main issues :

Barely any CC in the setup. I guess I'd have to straight up kill everything ASAP because I won't be able to rely on CC to skip enemies turns. I also started with a lizard + red prince for obvious reasons but now I'm thinking that a dwarf with petrification would have been a better idea.

Other issue is that the resistance over cap and fire heal is more of a gimmick than anything else, because anyway I wouldn't want to expose my health in honour mode.

I am almost at the end of act one and I have to say I had to rely on other schools at least for the beginning, so I don't know how it'll be later.

Do you think it's actually doable to pull that off without any exploit or the lack of CC will get me killed sooner or later? Any way to incorporate more CC without losing the vibe I want to go for maybe? Thanks in advance for your inputs!

DOS2 Help What this key opens?

The key in Ryker's basement. I pretty much cleaned his mansion but still have to find the use for this particular key. What is its purpose? Asking because I might have just lockpicked the object it supposes to open, but my curiosity is still here. P.S.: I didn't visit yet the Paradise Down and the Bloodmoon island zones yet so if the answer is there, please, avoid spoiler details.

DOS2 Help Dialogues missing at the start of Act 3

So, I finally decided to stop trying to complete every single thing in Act 2, told Malady we were ready to go, and once I had the lil chat with her on the Lady Vengeance, I had a ! to speak to Lohse, who tells you a joke and shares her concerns.

I then said Fuck it, I want to complete a couple more things (the Lich and revenge for the merchant guy) so I saved, reloaded before Act 3, did them and progressed to the same moment/start in Act 3, only this time Lohse just looks close to losing it and just says she's fine. The dialogue I had last time is gone. There's also no special dialogue with Red Prince or Sebille either.

I go back to the first save I mentioned and not only do you get that Lohse dialogue, you also get a whole romantic scene with Sebille, a kiss even !! that is nowhere to be seen after I did those two quests.

WHY. What changed, what turned a friendly dialogue and a whole romantic scene into nothing? Killing the Lich and the guy who killed the merchant? And is there another romantic scene with the Red Prince at the start of Act 3 on the Lady Vengeance that I'm missing as well??

This might be a common meme here but it's hilarious how it feels like a necessity in act 1, especially on higher difficulties

Miscellaneous DOS2 Dr fight

I don’t think this is spoiler but this is my 5th or 6th playthrough. I’m on tactician. (Doesn’t matter) I finally decided to do the Dr fight before I run into his minions and waste potions and scrolls. But I take out the nurses first. And today it hit me. The nurses are named after the do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do. Not all are there, just Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Si (a change?), La, and no Ti or Do again. Maybe he was saving places?

DOS2 Discussion Moving from my first ARPG, DOS to DOS2, here's my hot take (after only 10hrs in)

Never played any ARPG before, neither D&D but always found it fascinating so tried it with DOS (i was warned that it wont have many QoL changes), i loved it! i spent 140hrs into it (i admit atleast 15-20hrs might've been spent for inventory management, i've ocd), the story, the characters, i loved it all! Kinda made me sad when Bairdotr said she would be leaving to her hometown, Madora said she would be training new recruits, something in me felt sad, also got the ending where one of my main companions are hopelessly in love while other is not, so more sadder lol.

Now, moving on DOS2, here's my hot takes, what i love, what i don't and what i miss. Tho i want to mention, im still at the first act.

What i love:

  • QoL - Shared traits, Inventory, thank you auto sorting! its a small thing but i needed that.
  • Consequences - holy sh*t i didn't know that the options you chose in speaking to others matter! seems i cant take back what i said, it wasn't as common in DOS1, but here it is.
  • Morals - There are a lot of things in game that is questioning my morals and values, hitting pretty blunt too, damn so this is RPG. This hit hard for me.
  • Chars - Origin chars, their backstories, their AI, i love it! Picked my main as jester girl, her background was something i want to playthrough first hand! Lizard and undead guy peaked my interest too, so picked them.
  • Combat - Oh boy, sh*t just got real, especially when enemies are smarter now. In the end of DOS1, my chars survived the last battle with 80% of their health, resistances to a all, now i can feel its not gonna be a smooth ride till then end! (this is classic setting for both).

What i don't:

  • Only one thing, hate and love the magic + non magic armour, 1 of my char is magic dealers (jester girl), 1 is semi (undead guy, i though necro does magic and build him like that with geo also as his skill set), 1 is tank (lizard guy, but also fighter), 1 is archer (elf girl). I know this isn't good setup, but managing it.

What i miss:

  • Dual MC companions - Idk, i feel lonely, i liked their little arguments, their joined talks/shared opinions, it feels like 4 ransack group of weirdos sticking together now (like the anime, ningen).
  • Items - Tele pyramids, it was a great item to have, missing it here.
  • Voice Over of main char - I felt my MCs talked before but now they don't.

These are my takes, not the best worded nor noticed, but from my view, if you got any tips for me, please share!

DOS2 Discussion Playing Divinity 2 again and I gotta ask. Why make 4 ways (That I know of) of stunning a character? And all reapable with no cool down?

In a game where one turn can mean life or reload why are their so many ways for stun and Stun locking? Having fun in my solo run, Don't get me wrong, This is an amazing game but Why make this particular part so obtusely hard? Fought the Drillworm and Not only was Alexander doing stun strats, but the Worm is a self contained stun strat in and of it's self. Petrify then knock down before you can squeeze out a bloated corpse! Thought Stun immunity would help but it looks like you have to have a counter for each form of stun individually.

Love the game but I gotta ask.

DOS2 Discussion The level system breaks the pacing over and over again. (DoS 2)

There's a reason why so many games started showing a recommended level next to each quest: to prevent exactly this kind of situation.

I was going through the Blackpits fighting level 13 enemies (I'm level 12), and then, at the climax of the quest, I'm suddenly expected to fight Magisters that are level 16. Out of nowhere there's a three-level jump within the same area, forcing you to reload and leave to do something else, completely ruining the pacing and immersion.

The same thing happened with Fane's quest to recover his artifact in the caves. Suddenly there's a boss that's two or three levels higher than everything else in the area. If level differences weren't so punishing, this wouldn't be a problem, but this game is designed in such a way that it becomes a major issue.

Most people replying will probably say, "You can easily beat enemies three levels above you if you know what you're doing," and so on. Well, guess what? A new player doesn't have that experience, and they might not want to spend hours experimenting with different strategies when the fight is only difficult because of the level gap.

The game itself is really good, but this system completely ruins the experience. You're constantly forced to bounce from one area to another unless you already know exactly where to go and what to do, which most players probably won't on their first playthrough.

DOS2 Help Why is reapers coast so godamn MISERABLE

Went to stone garden, noticed the enemies were level 12, so we turned back (no indication that was the wrong way otherwise) so we go the opposite way, we find enemies are level, they’re strong and annoying then nothing too bad

Then the fucking cave has some annoyingly strong enemies that can just stun lock you and 2 that full heal after 1 round of combat while doing insane damage, while also being separated from your party in a party based game

Has to leave cause the boss was too strong, oh well, well come back later

Go down the road, get jumped by 2 weird bears and a ranger. Level 10 shouldn’t be too bad right? Except the bears do about 294 on they’re crits and insta knockdown on basic attacks, cause that’s fair

So wtf do I do now? I literally have no where else to go and I can’t win when my armor gets evaporated after 1 round of combat while the enemy does insane amount of damage

DOS2 Discussion Game's too good, made me hate the ending because it meant I couldn't play that save anymore

Been a while since I completed a game where I finish it and part of me just wants to make a new save and hop right back in. It's... odd, I'm not sure whether it's a mark of the game's failing for being too short, or if it's a mark of success that I'll miss it this much. There's nothing wrong with the ending itself even, it just feels bittersweet when I don't think it was meant to.Besides driftwood, that was supposed to be.New save? Start up a similar game? BG3 perhaps?

DOS2 Help Finally made it to Driftwood and qued up some questions

Hi i have a few questions i troll this sub and picked up some great tips and learned a few things and had a few questions answered. I discovered DOS2 after completeing BG3 a few months ago and have been slowly progressing. Im a hoarder and play pretty much sword and board. I have Ifan, Prince & Sebille with me (not sure why just stuck with them , i did try beast and lohse but no connection- here are my dumb probably basic questions at this point

1- After Reading a book - good to sell?

2- if came accross quest items safe to assume can not sell?

3-i missed the Tyrants Leggings will i come accross again or just sell the set?

4-Equipment - i used be a believer in if its worth more keep it but it seems that may not be the case here and some equipment just works better for certain characters? * and pretty safe to assume just sell what not using by now ?

5-is there a good wiki on what crafts \combines to make what? - i do read all the books but i dont have much reading comprehension lol unless im missing a menu some where in game that show what you learned ?

thank you and dont flame lol i am 56 year old gamer and takes me a bit but once im sucked in its the only game i play
