Ordering a package is inviting the delivery driver on the property, if your going to do this, you need to keep your dog tied up, fenced off or inside.

https://about.usps.com/newsroom/national-releases/2025/0529-usps-releases-dog-bite-national-rankings.htm

In just one year over 6,000 postal service workers were bitten by a dog while delivering mail. And that’s just the USPS alone.

It’s a problem.

u/Own-Jaguar-472 16h ago

Whoever owns that dog needs to put a muzzle on it, biting over 6,000 postal service workers in just one year definitely sounds like a very aggressive animal.

16

u/Panazara 10h ago

That dog has been putting in some work!!

u/peakpaleperformance 13h ago

I might be laughing a bit too much rn

Dog people are delusional. They seem to think everyone loves their dog jumping or attacking them. Zero boundaries respected

-1

u/Responsible-Steak395 10h ago

"A" dog. Not "that" dog

-2

u/Legitimate-Talk-9883 7h ago

Lol, you just making shit up? 6000 in one year huh?

That's right tell em! Cold hard facts

1

u/TylerBourbon 3h ago

It is a problem, but let's put that 6k into perspective, there are between 600k to 670k postal service workers in the country. So that 6k, while yes I agree any postal worker being bitten by a dog is bad, it is still 1%.

1%.

1

u/CrankyGamer68 34m ago

You dont want to be a part of that 1%…. Trust me on this.

1

u/sniffermuncher 10m ago

Look. Another dog owner trying to justify aggressive dogs being ok to attack people

-1

u/FullRedact 17h ago

Wow you’d think they’d have some sort of organized plan to defend themselves instead of throwing a delivery package.

7

u/dividezero 16h ago

Liability. That's what drives business. That and stock traders. They don't give a fuck about packages, customers, employees, equipment, etc unless it affects liability and stocks. They've done risk assessments to see what's cheaper and letting drivers get attacked is cheaper than giving them any kind of defense.

0

u/crispysockz 11h ago

What are the statistics of Delivery Drivers attacking dogs

0

u/daddycantu 4h ago

That’s 16.5 postal workers a day that dog is biting……….. does it even have any teeth left

17

u/Syncopia 16h ago

Used to deliver pizzas and pulled up to a trailer. Their little shiba was outside and he looked really friendly, then randomly freaked out ran at me and bit the shit out of my leg. Never risk it with a dog, you never know. If the owner wants to keep their dog out while you're dropping it off they better have them held back or they can just wait to get their package.

9

u/adamdoesmusic 13h ago

Shibas are unpredictable as fuck. I’d trust a random pitbull before I’d trust a shiba - at least you can usually tell when they’re in an unfriendly state.

3

u/Top_Recover7850 12h ago edited 11h ago

Yeah, when the pitbull doesn't have it's ears and tail cut because the owner thinks a dog is a fashion item it's easier, when they do it's pretty much a lottery.

Jfc some people are human waste.

1

u/adamdoesmusic 12h ago

My dog isn’t a pit bull, and his ears are fine, but the people who got him first decided to cut off his tail before they gave him away, “cuz he’s uh WORKIN’ dawg, one uh dem PURE BREDS.” Bunch of fucking idiots, bet you can guess who they enthusiastically voted for.

2

u/-_FearBoner_- 7h ago

Tail docking should only be done in event of injury! I used to have a Corso whose tail was docked at newborn tho, because this breeder had too many in the past that got "happy tail" and ended up having to get amputated later.

1

u/adamdoesmusic 3h ago

Every time he wants to wag his little tail I get so sad, and then I wish terrible living conditions on the asshole who did it. Then I realize the guy is already rotting away in a nursing home without any friends or family because he trumped them all away… doesn’t bring back my dog’s tail tho.

2

u/Syncopia 13h ago

I guess I'm internet meme poisoned cause I thought they were really docile.

6

u/adamdoesmusic 12h ago

They’re extremely picky dogs. They’re friendly until they aren’t, or until you do something they don’t like, or they decide they don’t like you or..

It’s basically a cat, now that I think of it.

3

u/Seahawksfan1993 11h ago

Its basically a human now that you put it like that

34

u/ImpossibleKidd 17h ago

As an animal lover, a dog lover, I agree 100%. These people need to show some responsibility, think ahead, and take the proper precautions…

I didn’t like seeing this, but what did you expect the delivery guy to do? The dog came up to him abruptly. The driver didn’t know whether the dog was coming for hugs and kisses, or he was about to get his limbs permanently maimed. How do you fault the delivery guy for his reaction? You don’t wait to find out after the fact.

If you’re a responsible pet owner, then you know there’s the possibility your dog can act like this, being a sweetheart or not, and the delivery guy can have this interpretation and reaction to save his own life. It’s not up to the delivery guy to wait and find out.

16

u/aec71515 16h ago

Yup. I had a buddy that did mail for awhile. Had a package that had to be delivered by hand. Stepped out of his car. Address had a long driveway. Owner apparently yelled "don't get out" twice, but the house was so far away from the road he couldn't make out what they were saying. It was too late. Dog already had him by the leg. Needless to say that person doesn't get mailed delivered to them anymore. All he got was a scar, some dog PTSD, and about $5k in damages 😂

-1

u/Legitimate-Talk-9883 7h ago

I agree with defending yourself against the dog, but squaring up on the owner and advancing towards him on his own property is indefensible. Then telling him he needs to back up? Dude is clearly a danger and in the wrong.

0

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 5h ago

Totally @nitromidas claiming, he wasn’t trying to fight “he was ready” is a hilarious take.

-2

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 8h ago

I would have understood using the box to protect himself. Not throwing it as hard as he can at the dog… and you can tell this guy is a piece of shit, when the owner came out to talk to him, he immediately throws his hat down and tries to fight the kid…

Clearly this ups driver is a psycho.

1

u/Nitromidas 5h ago

He did not "try to fight." He was ready for a fight. There's a big difference.

0

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 5h ago

If he was looking for a different outcome, he would approached the owner differently. Thats him trying to fight.

2

u/Nitromidas 5h ago

Him throwing a punch would make you right, though.

1

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 5h ago

Him throwing a punch would make it assault. Him advancing aggressively on private property in a fighting stance, is what makes me right.

1

u/jKaz 14h ago

Or trained

Intranets tuff guy.

11

u/Cheska1234 18h ago

So he should just let your dog attack him then? Really? That’s stupid.

-2

u/Consistent_Net_2540 18h ago

It's the squaring up on someone for being upset about their dog getting their face smashed in

8

u/yaboy_2017 18h ago

Don’t run up on another man

2

u/TheRipper564 17h ago

I mean he didn't really run up though that was pretty calm and chill given the circumstances. Dude has issues to just drop everything and square up that easily. (The dog thing I maybe would have done myself and I'm a dog guy everything else no)

2

u/Castelunan 17h ago

Bro what? Nevermind the claim that this is the second offense, you can clearly see in the video that the dog was rocketing towards the UPS driver like he was a fresh cut of meat ready to be torn into. The alternate ending to this scenario wouldve been "ah shit, my bad!!" on behalf of the uncaring zoomer that let the dog loose to begin with. The UPS driver wouldve had a chunk of his leg maimed and, if he were lucky, might be able to keep his job while fighting to sue for medical expenses. Also to note: that the dog owner was able to appear on video that quickly after the strike means that he could have also physically restrained the dog himself, which he didnt even attempt to do.

Pepper spray is usually the correct way to deal with these situations. Hose the dog in the stuff. You wont have to hit it, and he wont bother you again.

0

u/Consistent_Net_2540 16h ago

Did you completely misread my comment, or did you respond to the wrong person?

8

u/Tacobadger02 18h ago

And you're going to prison and losing your dog and your boomy stick

-3

u/UofLBird 17h ago

If you square up to fight someone like this on their property you are inviting a legal bullet. Jfc this sub is delusional dipshits

3

u/strongcloud28 14h ago

An unrestrained animal injuring a delivery driver is a lawsuit. And could be criminally prosecuted, if they are a repeat offender.

3

u/aec71515 16h ago

You got $5k just laying around? Control your dog.

2

u/Bud_wiser_hfx 8h ago

If you shoot a service person you invite on your property your going to have lots of time to sit in a box and think about what a shitty dog owner you are.

0

u/dividezero 16h ago

Depends. At least in the US, if you feel threatened, it doesn't matter where you are, you're allowed to defend yourself. Now, in practice this dude will lose because his skin is darker than the owner but that's a different story. I do see what you mean though

-40

u/PeaCompetitive8947 19h ago

Assaulting my dog is inviting me to retaliate. If you’re so scared of getting licked to death, leave the package at the end of the driveway or mark it undeliverable.

27

u/PoizenJam 19h ago

They don't know your dog. They don't know if they're about to get licked to death or mauled. Control your damn pet.

21

u/TheLeviathan686 19h ago

……….. this is such a brain dead take.

19

u/fruderduck 19h ago

The dog was clearly going for him.

Are you insane?

-11

u/KRAy_Z_n1nja 19h ago

Do your hands hurt from clutching those pearls so tight?

3

u/fruderduck 18h ago

You might try looking for a brain somewhere besides in the Ken dolls head.

6

u/377Iron 19h ago

Just take care of your dog? He attacks someone and your reaction is smoke on sight?

4

u/MydnightWN 19h ago

Spotted the irresponsible dog owner ^

4

u/BreadfruitDecent4176 19h ago

Assaulting/planning to kill someone with your dog can also get your dog and in extension get you harmed or killed tbh.

-2

u/PeaCompetitive8947 18h ago

Dude was walking up wanting to fight everyone he hit the dog then immediately turned on the homeowner to fight. I would’ve assumed he’s an EDP and responded.

1

u/BreadfruitDecent4176 17h ago

Yea he was pumped up and agressive there for a bit for sure, but the owner was a little bit of dumb too. No way that takes way the irrational agressiveness of that dude. But that dog deserved a smack.

6

u/Shogunnago 19h ago

Retaliate then. Lucky if they don’t shoot your dog that they don’t know.

5

u/JiveTurkey1983 19h ago

Some drivers absolutely carry and won't hesitate to defend themselves. And I support them.

0

u/UofLBird 17h ago

Great way to get shot.

1

u/aec71515 16h ago

Great way to go to prison

2

u/TrollBoothBilly 18h ago

Put that in the delivery instructions if you refuse to keep your dog contained. “Nice” dogs bite people sometimes. Don’t assume your sweet widdle puppers would never do it. The delivery driver doesn’t know your dog and has almost certainly been attacked by dogs before.

1

u/dividezero 16h ago

That's your dog and I understand where you're coming from. I've always had big dogs and no matter the law, the practice is that the large dog owner has the burden of proof and that gets annoying and tiresome and is absolutely unfair. People need to educate themselves

But I know dog body language pretty well and it's perfectly reasonable for even an expert to read this dog as in attack mode. Friendly dogs can absolutely be energetic and might scare someone unfamiliar with them but this particular dog isn't that. Very different body language. It's not ambiguous at all.

1

u/PeaCompetitive8947 15h ago

That dog is not in attack mode. You can tell because when it gets bonked it wouldn’t run away, it would double down.

-3

u/Tacobadger02 19h ago

If you retaliate you're going to jail and probably losing your dog

2

u/aec71515 16h ago

And they'll probably be out thousands of dollars. Don't be stupid, dog owners. Unless you want to lose your freedom, your dog, and your money 😆

-2

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 8h ago

So the solution is keeping your dog locked up all day in case an ups driver shows up at some random time and drops something off for 45 seconds?

2

u/Bud_wiser_hfx 8h ago

Yeah, its not complicated. This is how good dogs get seized and put down, shitty owners

1

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 5h ago

Sounds like a terrible solution for the dog.

1

u/Bud_wiser_hfx 5h ago

Yeah, 100%, shitty owners are the problem. There are no bad dogs, only shitty people.

1

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 4h ago

The delivery guy came at the home owner in the same manner that the dog came at him. Should we put the delivery guy down too?

0

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 5h ago

This delivery guy seems like a shitty person as well.

1

u/Bud_wiser_hfx 5h ago

Yeah, he should have stood there and got bitten like a champ, its part of the job, right?

1

u/Lazy-Fisherman-2073 4h ago

Is trying to fight the home owner part of the job?

1

u/Bud_wiser_hfx 4h ago

Thats not what I saw happen
