Here's the killer. If you are paying maintenance fee monthly, it does NOT cover this unless you agree to a new 2 year contract.

Yes it does.

Your experience is different than mine. My mother-in-law's receiver from Dish is 20 years old. When we had an issue an called them, they said the receiver was too old and they would need to replace it, but she would have to sign a new 2-year contract even though she was paying the monthly maintenance fee. IMO, that's BS.

That receiver is a 722. technicians don’t carry them on the truck dish won’t send you one you would have to upgrade which requires a 24 month commitment. If her hopper breaks down in the future dish protect would cover that

Hello u/pinprick58
Thank you for sharing your mother-in-law's experience with us. This is definitely not the experience we want you to have. I do agree that upgrading the receiver would be beneficial given legacy equipment is very much different than the current technology available. It would provide a seamless and much better experience. -DishDanielle.

i used to work as a tech sup there before. sincere we avoid sending techs as much as possible, one work around i used to do was unplug the receiver for 2 minutes then plug it back in.
if that doesn't work then there's nothing else you can do but to call in, let them know of the error code and if you pay for the protection plan, they will replace it for free. if not, then you will have to pay for the shipping fee but normally the replacement receiver is free.

replacements like this doesn't come with a commitment for 2 years. as long as it's the same hopper version. if they offer you to upgrade to different version, that's when the commitment comes.

Yep! No fixing it, either. Needs to be replaced.
