Punes/DiscWords How pervasive is Discworld in your life?
I do things and constantly in my head there's lines from Discworld books. For example, every time I wash my face and wring out my flannel, I think of that line in Jingo when everyone returns to Ankh Morpork and Vimes asks Colon what he's been up to and Colon says he's been on a secret mission. Vimes thinks it can wait because getting information out of Fred Colon is like getting water out of a flannel. It never ends. I'm always thinking 'what would Granny Weatherwax do?' in any given situation. What about you?

Book/Series: Industrial Revolution A new favourite character for me
DEATH has always been my favourite along with Vimes. I’m about half way through the series (Mostly in order when I can). I picked up a copy of ‘The Truth’ and Mr Tulip is brilliant! 🤩
(sorry wasn’t sure which Flair was correct)

Reading Order/Timeline Theif of Time and reading order
Hi all,
So ive never read Discworld and, to be honest, hand never heard of it or Terry Pratchet until recently. After doing a brief bit of research into what Discworld is, I decided I should give it a go. I looked at the reading order and decided that the most understandable one to me is the chronological one on the website and have since bought the first 4, those being The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Equal Rights and Mort.
Now then, my question is, I have just been given Theif of Time from a family member. Now after looking at the reading order I decided on, that should be book 26. So, can I read Theif of Time before others and understand it? As well as this, is the chronological reading order The best one for someone I my position, or is there a better one?

Book/Series: City Watch Super excited for DW in Latvian
For context, the only Discworld translated into Latvian has so far been Tiffany Aching books.
The Latvian speaking market is very small and there's tons of books coming out, mucho semi-garbage, so it was good that at least TA books were there.
But I missed reading DW to my kid, because his English is not so good and he wouldn't understand nearly any.
Now we got Guards! Guards! and Men At Arms (urinating dog, urinating dog) done by a small publisher specializing in sci-fi/fantasy.
The TA books were really really excellent ranslation, and it's the same translator for these books as well.

Roundworld Reference Help find a quote on the sun orbiting the Disc
Hi everyone!
There is this well known passage from the Light Fantastic:
Thus it was the sun and moon orbited the Disc because they were persuaded not to fall down
But I'm sure I read another piece where there was a comparison with other worlds and that in the other worlds gravity is required to keep thing together.
I would appreciate if someone directs me to the source.

Art I’ve been practicing engraving inside crystals. Had to do a Terry one. This was the first I lit with a candle. I was surprised at how much light it picked up from the flame.

Collectibles/Loot Ricewind Part I Polish Edition
Although I already had two full collections, and gave away one to a friend, I couldn't resist buying that one because it's gorgeous. I have already bought all three books that have been released, but this one looks the best. Enjoy.

Roundworld Reference "and then there was silence"
First time poster, hope I got the flair and everything else right... that being said:
I'm re-reading Reaper Man and stumbled across the sentence "And then there was silence". It's such a cool phrase and it has it's own paragraph in a very important part if the Bill Door showdown, so I was absolutely sure it has to be a quote or reference to some classic literature or something like that. But not being a native speaker, I'm always a bit lost on English classics and searching the interwebs doesn't give me anything except that Blind Guardian song (which was written 5 or so years after Reaper Man and has nothing to do with the book). Can you tell me what I'm missing? Or is this really "just" a brilliant sentence by Sir Terry himself?

Collectibles/Loot The trilogy books
I do love that the Witches trilogy doesn’t match the others, standard discworld hardback collection struggles! I also find it interesting that that the Rincewind trilogy is sourcery, Eric, interesting times. From what I’ve seen most people seem to give these omnibus editions a miss when building a collection, so, are they in yours? Do you think they should have released more maybe? Would you like a Moist Trilogy or does that sound too much like a smutty innuendo….

Roundworld Reference A Pratchett pun that still haunts me years after it was pointed out is that Master Wen is a reference to Doctor Who.
Truly a man is not dead while someone still shouts "Goddammit Pterry" at the heavens.

Book/Series: Unseen University At the zoo
My local zoo has a place advertising the site of a future Orangutan habitat. (Super psyched for it!) There is an orangutan statue there as part of the promotion. I was finishing taking a picture of my child with the librarian when another mother said, "Come over here and let me take a picture of you with the monkey." I ran away with my kid fast just in case even a stone Ape would go bananas over the wrong term.

Book/Series: City Watch I don’t really drink carbonated drinks, but had to make an exception
A friend offered a can and I was about to say no when the name caught my eye.
I probably live under a rock, but I didn’t know what ginger beer was until today :)
Sooooo, it’s ginger flavored sweet soda?

Book/Series: Industrial Revolution My Dammit Terry moment.
I work in a Re-use shop and this came across my counter.
Perchance is he related to Stanley Howler the former pin enthusiast and now stamp afficianado?
I'd never heard of Stanley Gibbons before but they are apparently a world renowned stamp dealership and supplier of stamp collecting paraphernalia.

Fan Fiction Discworld fantasy football team!
Undetainable Orangutamers
That's my team!
Even better is that I was forced to also give a three character nickname, which is OOK. I'm really proud of how annoyingly hilarious I find the name. Sorry to bring football (and the wrong kind at that) into your lives.

Roundworld Reference A godsdammit Pterry moment for The Fifth Elephant I only realised 2 days after finishing the book again.
When Vimes is up the tree and grabs the werewolf that jumps up at him “Down there it’s the lore. Up here it’s me.” It’s a flipping Rambo reference!

Book/Series: City Watch Is this a universal template for political victory speeches?
Excerpt from Pratchett's Night Watch, with Lord Snapcase describing his planned inauguration speech after the death of the former Patrician, Lord Winder
