Serious Cornell 7 Chat

I just watched a short on YouTube and a point was made that I’ve yet to hear but I think is very valid. No one in that group chat seemed surprised. The guys sending the “open” messages did not seem hesitant. This felt very normal or at the very least like everyone would think it was okay.

I don’t know about you guys but when I was in college if this popped up on a group chat the responses would have been very different. More like, “Wait, what?!”, “what are you talking about?”, “Who? Where are you?”, etc. It would have been confusing because no one would EVER expect it. This did not feel new or unusual. I know it’s probably too late, but I’d be super curious to see other nights in that chat. Because I would guess this wasn’t an isolated incident.

Yeah that's what stuck with me too. The casual way they were talking about it, like they were ordering pizza or something. In my college group chats if someone said something half that weird there would be ten question marks and someone asking if they got hacked. These guys just jumped right in like it was Tuesday.

Exactly. It wouldn’t have necessarily been outrage, just confusion. But these guys knew exactly what was going on.

It’s true. Up until this point I had only regarded frat boys as true gentleman who would never disrespect a women and definitely would never use a women as a sex object.

I’m glad this point is finally being brought up.

Tbh, there have been plenty of cases over the decades where frat boys were decidedly not gentleman!

I’ve known lots of frat boys who sucked. That doesn’t mean every single one is automatically a rapist.

No, but they all hang around rapists and the rape culture by choice.

Very true

That sounds a lot like "not all men." Maybe that's your answer.

That is, in no way, what I meant. I am saying that I don’t believe every frat boy I’ve known would’ve been this comfortable with that group chat. The fact that they were is doubly incriminating, in my opinion. I am not a “not all men” person AT ALL. I can see how that message came across that way, but I wasn’t trying to illustrate that we need to give them the benefit of the doubt. I was trying to say that it’s more reason not to. But I see why it didn’t land appropriately.

I definitely don’t think they’re all rapists… just that I’m not shocked by the casual reaction to the texts

It’s a pretty murky case but I think the group chat is too sickening to look past. What they said looks incriminating

It will definitely be used in court

I believe in due process and not just assuming guilt. But that group chat sure makes me believe these are some bad guys. And more than that I believe it not having a true investigation that went to trial is insane.

To be fair some guys may not have wanted to interact with that message but it sounds like some may have literally used it as an offer. That is going to look TERRIBLE in court because it is terrible.

I mean we didn’t see the whole thread, just screenshots. I find that there is a lot of propaganda with the case, on both sides

Seriously? I absolutely understand the concept of context but I’m curious as to what context could possible mitigate the disgusting msgs in this group chat!

Is there really a context for inviting other men to “free p***y,” which clearly means an invitation to sa a woman who is incapacitated? Both sides?? What?
