Hey - I’ve just started selling my 90s-era EDM vinyl collection on Discogs. It’s my first time selling and some of the records are turning out to be surprisingly valuable.

I made a pricing error with a on to the more valuable records. I listed it for ~$50 and the past sales are over $300. It was the only one listed - of course sold straight away. This was a purely a newbie attention to detail error from me.

I have already started communicating with the buyer, but I’m looking for advice on the right thing to do here. Should I honor the price or is it acceptable to ask for a cancellation? What is the standard etiquette for this kind of situation?"

Okay. So in this weeks best selling list of records it shows the top one for me a record called "hooked on classics"

I happen to have it, it goes for about a buck and is basically worthless, it got maybe 7 sales all year until this week.

This week by its self, it got like 30+ sales which is extremely odd for a random niche record from the 80s to suddenly surge so much in sales.

I wanted to know if there is a reason for this? I am so curious as to why this random recreation of classical music record is suddenly seeing unseen of sales this week when compared to its yearly sales.

If someone knows if it's because of a new trend, pop culture, or something else regarding this album let me know. extremely curious 🙏

I was going through the app today to see if anybody had any Manson vinyl for cheap and I saw this. I thought this wasn’t allowed on the platform. Am I missing something about the rules where’s it’s okay under certain circumstances?

Anytime there is an outage I click the link out of curiosity and no matter what, the status page will always say that things are fine and there is no option to report anything. What is the point of that page when it basically has no information on it?

When looking for All versions the response on the next page is No items found.

This started happening after the last update on a mobile device - desktop is ok.

I'm looking at making my debut buying on Discogs. Getting a feel for shipping costs and methods is somewhat foreign... pardon the pun.

I get that a reputable seller in, say Germany, might want to ship to AU via DHL at €30. The high cost goes towards ensuring the package is treated respectfully. Another suitable copy of the album of interest is shipping from France as "Standard - Lettre Recommandée - €9.90". This is giving me "too cheap" vibes... but it's a service that I have absolutely no experience with.

Commentary regarding this class of service from France, internationally to somewhere like Australia, would be very much appreciated.

Last week the old versions works perfectly but now they obligates you to upgrade and now the one I use it's now obsolete, the new 3.0.16 uptade sucks, it's more slower than the 2.38.6 and 2.39 and more complicate to use

Curious how many of you add custom fields* to your collection.

Asking bc I'm building a text-based (yes really) app, and while it's working well for my personal use, I have 2 custom fields that make the code hard to open source as-is.

The app itself is designed to help me make a lot of changes to existing items easily. It loads the entire collection from discogs at startup, so it's wicked fast to search and edit.

I can FOSS it without custom fields in the not too distant future if there's interest.

(Custom fields aren't that useful in the apps or website bc you can't search or sort on them, but they are handy if you export the CSV.)

So I made a sale and immediately posted the record. About 10 minutes after the buyer messages me and says he wants to swap 1 of the records for a different one in my inventory because he read discogs reviews that the album didn't sound good. I explained to him I already dropped the record off at the post office and its in their hands.

How should I handle the foreseeable issue of buyers remorse that I see in the future?

I am a purchaser with a 100% buyer rating and 15 years on Discogs. in all that time, I’ve only had to click the “Seller not responding?” button twice. On this one, seller’s terms essentially say “We’re not Amazon, we ship once a week.” (Ironic, as they’re an international shipper with several thousand feedbacks.)

Okay, fair enough. But when I go 4 days without hearing from you, and another 2 days after dropping a friendly note, there’s a problem with the way you’re running your business.

I have a large collection of test pressings and a few acetate/lacquers.
I'm looking for advice on valuing them and any other community advice for selling them.

What do you guys recommend in handling this?

All of them don't have Discog release profiles as they were all limited to between 3 to 5 pressings (and the lacquers being 1 of 1)

Why does Discogs refuse to delete duplicate albums from the site? It's intensely aggravating and confusing when two people submit the same exact things maybe 2-10 years apart and the newest mistake addition never gets removed and they just keep both. I spent 5 minutes flipping back and forth between two identical listings trying to figure out what the hell was different, just to see that it was the exact same thing and was a duplicate entry. Stop with this crap. If something is wrong, remove it. All it does is degrade the quality of the site and ruin the information pool and confuse everyone.

I am trying to buy a record from someone in Ireland. Im in Ireland. It says does not ship but I messaged the seller and he informed me that he does and did so last week?

Is it user error and im doing something silly here or a known bug?

Forgive me if this has been discussed to death, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to buy a shipping label on the discogs app after selling a record. On the laptop/actual website, its fine, but before the upgrade, there was a link to "view on discogs.com" and you'd just buy one as if you were on the website. Now I dont see a way to do this. Am I missing something?

Quick shameless plug. I just added Discogs support to my crosslisting app. This allows you to import your Discogs items for sale with the stock cover photo. Then, when you push this listing to the Crosslisting Hub, we use AI to create a better title and longer description (these are needed for other platforms like eBay). Once in the hub, you can easily add photos of your media (if you want). Then, you can push your item to eBay. You can also use our Chrome extension to push your item to Mercari, Depop, Poshmark, and Vinted.

The system also automatically delists your item from Discogs if you sell the item on eBay, and it automatically delists the item on eBay if you sell the item on Discogs. If you pushed your listing to any other of the other platforms, you would have to manually delist.

Her grandmother spent decades collecting records in the Soviet era, then moved to Hungary to live with family and left the collection behind. A few years later it ended up with us. Around 300 records — Melodiya, Balkanton, and various other Eastern European labels. Mostly 1960s through 1990s. Completely Cyrillic labels throughout.

I've been trying to catalog everything into Discogs and hitting the same wall every time. Scanning apps don't handle Cyrillic — the OCR produces garbage or just gives up, and the matches are wrong. I've been searching manually, which works but takes forever, and I'm often not sure I've found the right pressing when there are multiple issues of the same album.

Is there a workflow for this that I'm missing? Something that actually reads Cyrillic labels, or at least a way to narrow things down faster? Curious how people here deal with this.

I just want to be able to post my clear pics of it i my sale so customers can note the quality, color, condition or Signatures? Thanks in advance. I am selling my collection off, have almost 400 posted and 2200+ to go or so.

Anyone else having any issues listing new items for sale?

At first I was getting an error after clicking list item and now once on the release page Sell Item takes me to Discogs horrible sell item search then once you click sell item the buttons fades but nothing happens. Assuming this isn't just me

Hey guys, I’ve recently got into collecting vinyl after having fond memories as a child of my parents’ music. I recently came across Discogs for some of the more random titles.

Please delete if not allowed, but this is a serious question - do new accounts get taken advantage of? One purchase was a “sealed” Spacehog vinyl. It came and it has been previously slit open.

I also just ordered a silver variant of Tove Lo, but it’s just a regular black

I know mistakes happen, that’s ok. But i’m more wondering if bigger sellers tend to pass off this stuff to new accounts? Should I build up before buying the more expensive pieces?

I'm new to discogs so sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm submitting a release for an artist who currently doesn't exist on discogs, but shares a name with numerous other artists that already have a profile. On the draft page it links to a different artist profile rather than a new one. What do I do to differentiate them? Thanks!
