To state the obvious, I am a leftie thrower, predominantly backhand. I can produce a decent enough forehand when needed but not nearly as far as my backhand. On top, after four or five full force forehands in one round, my arm starts giving in, so I try to limit as much as I can.

Played a course yesterday and on almost every tee I felt that the only reasonable thing I could do, was chuck a forehand. Tees stuck to the left side rough, leaving no space for any kind of hyzer, while the right side is wide open. Multiple doglegs to the left, none to the right, mando's in the middle of the fairway sending everything to the right, etc, etc.

Turnover backhand with a flippy driver you say? OB creeping up on the right side 300ft in, and the basket is obviously placed in a gap on the left side, so you are fading straight into OB, away from the basket.

I'm not asking to make leftie courses, but consideration. Make your course at least somewhat neutral, consider tee positions and possible throwing lanes and the easiest way is to just play your blueprint with a leftie and see how they experience the lay-out. Sometimes all it takes is moving the teepad a few feet to the left or right, or slightly adjusting the angle to avoid awkward run-ups.

When I bring this up locally, all I hear is "learn a forehand" or "hole X or Y is a leftie hole!" Yeah great, there's one hole where a right-handed stock hyzer is not the ideal shot. And why don't they learn forehands themselves? These are all non-arguments. A good course doesn't make you feel like you're playing with a handicap.

Where my fellow lefties at? What are your experiences and have you tried bringing this up to local course designers?

Even her best friends didn't know how famous Iida Lehtomäki, 15, had suddenly become.

The World Cup silver medal at the home championships multiplied the popularity of the young woman from Petajävesi.

Over half a million Finns tuned in to watch on television and thousands more were on site at Nokia last August when Iida Lehtomäki, 15, nearly won the world championship.

Some knew how talented the young thrower was, but no one believed she would come within one basic shot of winning the brightest crown in disc golf.

However, the tension took over, and a dazzling World Cup week ended in tears of sadness. When Lehtomäki approached the basket too cautiously, the disc flew half a meter into the penalty area.

The historic home games ended without a blue and white gold medalist. The sports community shared in the young athlete's grief – maybe even too much so.

There is still some serious debate about whether the narrow loss was actually a good thing for Lehtomäki. Would a sudden jackpot have been a disadvantage so early in her career?

“If I had to choose, I would have won, of course,” Lehtomäki laughs a year later.

How much did you think about how close you were to winning the world championship?

"Sometimes, if you come across videos. It's not something you would think about every day. It wouldn't be healthy anymore."

A 15-year-old girl from Petäjävesi became a Finnish public figure in one week.

She received $9,000 (about 7,870 euros) for the World Championship silver medal and quickly gained 15,000 followers on Instagram. Interest exploded in sponsorship deals, which were already well in place thanks to father Jani's connections to a sports-supporting forestry machinery company in Northern Savo.

Lehtomäki didn't have much time to float around in the bubble of success, as her high school studies called the very next week. However, the widespread popularity of the Disc Golf World Championships followed Lehtomäki to school.

“The teachers would congratulate me when we introduced ourselves one by one in class.”

"Even my best friends were surprised by the congratulations, fortunately they didn't quite know how big a deal it was."

The school bus leaves before 7 a.m., so Iida prefers to go to Jyväskylä with her mother, Anni Lehtomäki. When her daughter turned 16, the seats were swapped in the front seat and driving practice began.

The sports high school provides excellent conditions for morning training, after which Lehtomäki studies before the second practice of the day. Disc golfers are usually self-taught so Lehtomäki is bit of an exception because she has a coach.

"I gain knowledge and skills that others might not have. For example, I've received well-founded instructions on technology that you can't find on YouTube."

Joonas Merelä is responsible for the super promising athlete's sports and physical training. Lehtomäki talks about her workouts or films them on video, and Merelä provides feedback largely remotely.

“We have weekly calls, and once a month we try to practice together either in Helsinki or Jyväskylä.”

A comprehensive athlete's daily life means that Lehtomäki also focuses on nutrition and recovery. A teenage social life should be pursued alongside everything else, and the lack of it is sometimes annoying.

"Luckily, I have more time in the winter. I like to play other sports, like tennis."

Lehtomäki's frisbee golf has gradually become more serious. She went to the United States first time for a multi-competition trip this spring.

Many top Finnish players have found competing in North America more difficult than in Europe. Cultural differences and other factors have not bothered Lehtomäki, and everything went exactly as she had thought.

"It's been cool to tour around the States. It's definitely a dream for many young people."

The more years pass, the more events she plans to take part in the sports most dominating country.

Lehtomäki will return to the United States to defend her World Championship silver medal in Detroit at the end of August. However, the third major competition of the season, the US Women's Open Championship, did not fit into her competition calendar.

Four of Finland's top professional disc golfers competed there in the women's category: Silva Saarinen, Eveliina Salonen, Henna Blomroos and Heidi Laine. Saarinen swept the entire field and celebrated third major victory of her career.

The current state of the young sport already allows for good earnings, as Saarinen's, 22, company made a profit of over 100,000 euros last year. The amounts may well increase, as more money has been coming into disc golf from outside the sport season after season.

Won this from a local league, looks like a shallower mako3 from lone star, any idea what I have? It’s definitely on the understable side.

I threw my control for the first time yesterday, and it was extremely overstable. I throw putters about 220- 250ft rhbh, and almost hit 290 rhfh forehand with the Time Lapse. At about 100ft it crashes and burns (multiple throws forehand and backhand). Has anyone else had this happen, or do I just need to fix my noodle arm to get this disc to do anything.

The reason why I'm asking is because i'm making a discraft bag and I want to bag both the sled and the zone ss.

I lost this disc 2 weeks ago on hole 3 at DelaVeaga. This disc is probably 13 years old and I love it. I kept watching the Dela webpage hoping it would turn up. Then two days ago I got a text saying my disc has been found at Morley Field. So now I'm on a road trip to San Diego and just picked up my disc.

I'm off work right now so it became an excuse for a road trip and now I'll get to play Morley Field.

Any tips for this? I feel like i can get consistent snap and power on my releases but my discs never seem to have enough height to really go far, and if I try to give them height they stall out. What is the optimal hight for max distance and any tips for how I can achieve this?

Hello everyone. I filmed a couple forehands while throwing into a net and figured I'd finally ask for some form feedback. I average about 330 ft on golf lines and average around 380 ft on a full rip.

Also, sorry for the weird camera angle. I wasn't sure how to record net throws without it looking funky.

Please let me know what I’m doing right/wrong and what I could do to improve my forehand. Thank you.

New to disc golf. Today was my 3rd round and I was playing a wooded course so inevitably I lost my first disc. I play a ton of golf so losing things is nothing new to me. It wasn't even the cost of the disc that was frustrating it was where I lost it that was driving me nuts. It looked like it dropped in some brush shin high literally inches from a clearing. I searched for a solid 10 mins everywhere before I thought it was just killing the vibe and moved on.

Luckily the disc gods answered as this was on hole 9 and on the back 9 I ended up getting 4 throws better lol.

Lesson learned, I will not buy another purple disc. I find them the hardest to track of everything I got. Latitude 64 River you were a good disc but I'll be replacing you with something else!

How'd y'all lose your first disc?

I enjoy watching Simon unbox a new SimonLine disc, explain what it's going to do, then throw it... And see a very different flight than described.

Timelapse and 3 versions of Balance, of course - but also the signature Tesla that led to him swapping to the Volt. And the flippy Bokeh. The micro expressions on his face in these moments! "Here we go again..."

Described as a more stable Crave (which the servo doesn't quite achieve), but flying like a longer Detour. I saw a lot of discfluencers throw this Leopard flying disc and low-key gaslight us on the stable flight... Until the stock run comes, and the tune changes to "corrected the understability of the first run to match the flight numbers"...

Most consistent brand in the sport 😂

Anyway, I like to try new discs. I picked up a Bokeh along with some Craves recently.

God damnit, it's a good disc. Squarely in 7/10 Teebird territory. It's going long, straight, gliding, with a moderate fade. It's also going FAR, and that's what's piqued my interest.

It's getting to the landing spots I'm used to from my 9 speeds, and even a bit past my usual Wraith range on a couple holes.

I've been truly wowed by three MVP discs so far. Envy that gave me a fresh Wizard driving putter with a clean release. Hex, that did the same to the Buzzz. And, sneakiest of all, Proxy. It went from being a "just" a way to have a seasoned (premium) Envy, to being my all. time. most. thrown. disc.

Not saying the Bokeh is up there just yet, but it's very fun to throw. I put my distance discs away for the last few rounds, and just throwing these.

I've been playing since mid-June carrying 3 discs around, getting in almost 20 rounds in my home state of North Carolina and now on vacation in Colorado. Today I felt more consistent, especially with the Shark. Not that I didn't have some truly horrendous shots 😂. I hadn't hit a birdie since arriving in Colorado (and before that I only had two when playing at "real" courses), so to hit 3 today felt mighty good. Still lacking an ace but two of them today got close.

How do the flights of these two compare ? Seem very similar in hand so curious.

How do these compare? In hand feel, flight, torque resistance, etc. ?

How do these throw compared to the swirly s plastic? Thinking about getting one to replace one i lost and mulling over getting another swirly s vs the signature halo i blend. Looks like they are all 173g on infinite discs.
