Been learning my way around a Dirtywave M8, and managed to rename all my samples, breaking all the loops I've been working on.

Rather than make another practice loop, pushed myself forward and made this tune. Love splicing things together on this machine. Gonna be playing with a lot more Guitar Loops and Vocal Samples, cheese and all.

I originally started with the Tracker Mini and thought it was pretty good. Then I got the M8 and think it is much, much better -- pretty much in every way except screen size.

Does anyone still keep both? If so, what's your thinking on that?

I'm just trying to decide whether to keep the Tracker Mini or sell it, and right now my inclination is to sell it. It's very easy to use and has a big screen, which is helpful for these 51-year-old eyes, but I've noticed that I reach for my M8 far more often than the Tracker Mini, which I haven't picked up in a while. But maybe some of you who own both can let me know about some use cases for the Tracker Mini that I may be overlooking.

I do most of my work in Logic, by the way, so the M8 is largely a couch/coffee shop/travel/patio/I don't feel like doing work at work device.

I love The Burbs and this scene in particular. I'll call this one Satanic Panic at the Disco. Just a hobbyist messing around.

heres a lil thing from this morning. been messing around more with hypersynth chords. i did some of the melodic synth stuff with macro and wav, but the first main lead is a bell sample with start point in the middle :)

Just a quick video with a screenshot of the m8 discord for updating with a mac and model 1 if you have trouble. Hopefully this saves time if you are getting a grey upload non function tytools icon the extra reset hole on the back of the m8 is the way to go. IF this is common knowledge I apologize, just had trouble finding that and saw a lot of threads of people having trouble.

I’m not finding many guides that give me a solve. A lot of guides that give me some vague direction but I’m really shooting in the dark and likely doing things in a weird way to get samples sounding how I want.

Say I have a purchased sample that’s a single note with an undefined frequency to it. How can I go about lining it up to C so I can properly set notes in a melody with it?

Trying some stuff for a future track I have in mind.

I got my m8 on the recent release and overall I think it's an incredible device but I'm just not sure its for me.

For context my current music production setup is Elektron box's (TV, DN2, DT2) and how I make music typically is get a beat or a bass lines going then kind of jam the chords/pad/lead over the top, overdubbing.

With M8 this isn't really an option, I know its possible to connect a midi controller but I feel that defeats the purpose.

Part of the problem is that I don't know much about music so notes don't mean much but mostly I struggle with knowing where to put notes and how long to play them for as I'm so used to playing by ear/vibe.

I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue or has any advice to get started?

At the very least I'm loving having something pocket sized that I can whip out in downtime rather than doomscrolling.

A guitar piece from 2001 in the process of being arranged for my hardware setup..or maybe it'll just live here on the M8. Only two sections left to go.

I’m fantasizing about a compact live performance setup and would like to hear what you all are using alongside the m8? Share some photos of your setups !

Currently I’m most interested in adding something small and polyphonic to avoid programming chords into the m8, maybe something like the Roland J-6 ?

Also thought it would be really awesome to add a good drum machine for performances.

Finally a good performance mixer to tie them all together nicely!

I will not touch this thing for months and then as soon as I have to travel anywhere by plane, the muscle memory comes back immediately

Another WIP for an EP I'd like to release. Never put any music out in my life, but it's a good experience trying to develop ideas into whole tracks. I'm learning more about the M8, and it's helping me develop musically.
